Welcoming hosts. Lovely room with view of the sea. Outdoor verandah area. Coffee and tea available in the dining room. Delicious breakfast, hotplate, toat and preserves. Best light fluffy blueberry pancakes to date of my 2 months of travelling Canada. I would stay at The Island inn again.

There's road noise but very quiet after about. 8.30pm.

Breakfast was good. Nice hosts. Close to many things. Very nice verandas.

Bed was poor and room was warm with no AC.

This Hotel is like you are in Jail , the owner is always sitting at main door and smoking, he have always questions about your stuff you are taking in and out from your car …OMG Never Do Mistake Renting this place …Mattress are so cheap quality you can not have good sleep . And Almost 50 years old carpet , two days my whole family was sneezing with allergy. Never Recommended

Very friendly check in. Room was very comfortable and homey. The breakfast was excellent and delicious. It was pleasant to chat with the other guests in the morning too.

No table and chairs; so had to sit on beds. No place to hang towels to dry to be able to reuse.

With luggage, it was quite a challenge navigating the steep narrow stairs leading to our room located on the 3rd floor.

We spent 2 nights at the Island Inn during a trip around Cape Breton soon after the April-May 2021 lockdown ended. Our room was at the front and had a lovely view of the water with a comfy bed, a small desk (something we appreciated as we needed to check in with work), and a clean spacious bathroom. The owners were friendly and knowledgeable about the area. They were always masked in our presence and were clearly following all current covid protocols. They also made sure we had a yummy breakfast and made sure to ask about any dietary restrictions (not something that applied to us but always a good sign in my book). The location is great as a place to base day trips in Highlands National Park and while during our visit there were only a limited number of options for lunch and supper, more opened each day we were there. One other note, there is an inn cat, but one who is passively curious about visitors but not overly affectionate. He's not allowed upstairs (there's a door blocking his way) and from what we could see mostly spends his time lounging outside or on a chair. He accepted a pat when offered but otherwise kept his distance

It's a great spot to stay with all the comforts we could want, good food, and great location, and nice people with a lot of local knowledge, but it's a simple family run B & B so lots of amenities it's not going to be for you.
