Just amazing, we loved it so much. Bishnu and his family are so welcoming. Saoru’s cooking is beautiful, everything is cooked from scratch, and there is plenty of it. The lodges are basic and functional, providing a base for you to enjoy all that is on offer. Bishnu offers a wide range of Safari experiences, we recommend them all. We would go back in a heartbeat if we could!

The family are great, the peace and quiet at the lodge is excellent, the food was very good, and the safaris were amazing.
If you are looking for the creature comforts of a resort or hotel then this is not the place for you. The rooms may be spartan but they were clean. This is the place to go if you want to be away from the crowded tourist district, and value some peace and quiet. You will have a large variety of birds around your room, and maybe the occasional jackal at night if you are lucky (don't worry about them, they are great to see and go in the other direction as fast as they can if they see you).
The family who own the lodge are all lovely and welcoming, and they supply some great tasting food (the nearest shops are a 10-15 minute walk away.
Bishnu from the family who runs the lodge is also the safari guide, and he is great He is a local who truly loves and cares for nature, and who is very knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna. I went out on my first jeep safari within a couple of hours of arriving and to be honest I was not expecting to see much. I would have been happy with a few birds and just seeing the park. What I saw far exceeded that. We spotted our first rhinoceros within a couple of minutes of entering the park and saw several more (up very close). There were dozens of spotted deer, hog deer, gharial crocodiles, mugger crocodiles, macaques, wild boar, and a huge variety of birds.
I went on another jeep safari two days later and saw 9 different individual rhinoceros that day as well. Some of them were within n 5 metres of our jeep. On that second safari we also saw plenty more of the other animals I have mentioned, including a huge range of birds, including some migratory species which are rare to see in this part of the world.
Unfortunately I decided not to do the canoe ride or the walking safari, but have since been in touch with other tourists I met there, who said that was also a wonderful experience.
HIGHLY recommended.

The rooms are basic but functional. The food is delicious and prepared with fresh ingredients! Bishnu, the owner and guide for the tours is very experienced and does a wonderful job. We had the privilege of enjoying the majestic appearance of a beautiful tiger during our jungle walk safari, absolutely stunning! The Lodge and the tours it offers are 100% recommended!! We did the boat, jeep and walk safari :)
The rooms could use a little up grade :)

My stay in Chital Lodge in Megahauli, hosted by Bishnu and Saoru, was fantastic. Although I enjoyed my walking safaris near Sauraha as well, I do wish I had spent all my time here near Megahauli. Less known and less touristic, beautiful and just as wildlife-rich area of the national park. The safaris are guided by the host Bishnu who clearly lives and breaths the natural world of Chitwan. Bishnu and Manoj were amazing and knowledgeable guides who put up with monsoonal rain, heat, and bugs to help us see many rhinos, monitor lizards, great hornbills, and, lucky enough, even a bengal tiger. And way more. And as a huge plus, Saoru is another very kind host and a wonderful cook. The food was always delicious. The lodge is clean and pleasant, I added an extra night just to relax there. If I return to Nepal, Chital Lodge will be a place I revisit. Grateful to have found this beautiful gem.

Everything.
This lodge is run by very nice family.
They prepared for us an amazing food and also organized the best walking safari!

Bishnu is a great guide and we really enjoyed his knowledge of the jungle during our walk and jeep safari.
The lodge is located in a very beautiful and natural location.
We expected the lodges to be simple and rustic, but maybe not so much. The mattress is incredibly hard, the bathroom is tiny and was pretty dirty, the sheets and towels were very old and had holes in them, there are frequent power outages that leave you with no fan for hours... In summary, it is not a very comfortable stay. However, if you spend most of your time doing activities in the jungle, you won't spend much time in the room.
The lodge has no food menu, which means you don't know what is available and how much it costs. For me, that was a confusing and a bit awkward system of getting your meals.

Atmosphere was very relax, good food

Bishnu and his family were just awesome. Good food, good service. Picked me up at the bus stop without knowing it. Brought me to the bus stop in the morning and organized the ticket for me.
The walking safari with him was great. Exactly what I wanted.
Everything is basic but it’s clean and for that price there is absolutely nothing to complain!
Thank you very much!!!

Our stay at Chital Lodge was truly amazing. The setting was a perfect blend of tranquillity and serenity while being surrounded by wildlife. The lodge was clean and spacious, and the beds were comfortable. The outside area was great to sit and relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Bishnu and his family were fantastic. We had delicious homemade food every day. They really looked after us. Then there was the safari. Bishnu offers a range of different types of safari. We chose a walking safari. It was one of the most exillerating things I have done in my life. We saw a large variety of wildlife, including lots of Rhino! Bishnu has a great passion for the wildlife in Chitwan, and what he doesn't know isn't worth knowing. We always felt safe with him. Thank you to Bishnu and his family. We will cherish these memories forever.

We had a really nice time in Chital lodge. Bishnu is the best guide! It is wonderful to see how passionate he is. We saw a lot of rhino's, birds, deer etc. Also the food was amazing! The best Nepali food we had during our travels.

We went for a guided walk in the Safari Park and saw an Indian tiger

Everything was perfect ! The lodge is really beautiful, we really enjoyed our stay there ! The food was good and Vishnu was an extremely competent guide who went out of his way to give us the best possible safari experience, I could not recommend this lodge enough
Everything was great !

Away from the tourist centre. Peaceful and authentic. The whole family were so helpful organising transfer, bus tickets, safaris etc. Basic rooms in a beautiful location. Food was superb.
The most knowledgeable guides for two days walking in the national park. We saw tigers, bears, rhino's etc, etc. Highly recommended

This was a fabulous place to stay. The owner does walking safari and this was amazing and we got to see rhino’s. The facilities are basic but the showers are hot. If you are looking for 5 start this is not for you. It js a step back into nature and a beautiful setting. The meals are fantastic and there is an fire pit in the evening to enjoy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
Nothing.

Chital Lodge is a magical place! We loved our stay! Bishnu and his family are beautiful hosts! Food was great and lovingly made. Bishnu is a great guide for the jungle and will take you on spiritual adventures into the national park! Namaste 🙏🏼 Thank you Bishnu, we will never forget this experience!

The Lodge was as expected being in a forest village area. The lodge was simple as in a rural village. The host family was really good in terms of immediately providing attention and for meals.
The tour safari was good having been able to see spotted deer, rhinos, crocodiles and a variety of birds.
The bathroom and wash area could have been cleaner. Needs some plumbing work done. There was a green wash bucket where the previous user had left a tissue in it. The commode was not cleaned well.

very local and near to the park, the hotel owners are Wonderful and they take extra care for you in everything.
the worst bed We’ve ever stayed in. very cold rooms with no option for heating.

We had a great couple of days exploring the national park with Bishnu and Raj, we saw lots of animals both during our walk and jeep safari and really felt our guides' experience, knowledge and passion. A very authentic stay in Chitwan.
Just a reminder to bring enough cash for the activities and everything you'll need during your stay, their place is quite remote.

The location of the lodge is amazing. The cabins are basic but it really suits the vibe. It feels like you’re actually staying in the jungle. The owners are super nice & friendly. They make sure everything is perfect during your stay.
It’s also possible to do walking & jeep tours through the National Park. The owner will be your guide. An absolute must.
Nothing!

The setting of the lodge is amazing! Beautiful forest sounds and really clean air. It it a very tranquil place. The family are extrememly helpful and accomodating. The jeep and walking safari were great. Bishnu is an incredible guide with a wealth of knowledge.
The rooms are very close together so you can hear everything your neighbour is doing, including going to the toilet! It feels like they are beside you. However, you spend so little time in the room it's not really a problem. The total price was also higher than extected. Throughout the stay we were offered food, tea and snacks, I didn't realise you paid for things like popcorn but probably my negligence! You need to make sure you have enough cash as it is totally remote. So yes, it's a pricey activity to factor into your travels! But once you know that in advance you can be prepared.

If you want to go the for the best walking Safari in the area then this is the place to go.
It's a 5 minute drive from the lodge to the rover crossing into the park. The owner is the guide and we were out for nearly 10 hours looking at animals. He was so passionate about the animals and the park and knew so many secret spots to watch over the animals.
I 100% felt safe walking around the park with the guide and would recommend this place to anyone who's passionate about animals.
We ate his wife's Dal Bat for dinner which was some of the best I've eaten in Nepal.
Obviously this a cheap place and is not some luxury tourist hotel so you get what you pay for.

I had the best time staying at Chital Lodge! It‘s a family owned guesthouse and it kinda felt like a Homestay. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming! Bishnu who is the owner of Chital Lodge is also a guide, he has gone to the jungle since he was a child and his knowledge is simply impressive! I can really recommend going for the jeep safari and especially the jungle walk with him. That was one of the best experiences I had during my travels.
Food at Chital Lodge is also amazing, everything was so good!
The location is away from the tourist center - it‘s located outside a village and it‘s one of the only guesthouses around that area.
It‘s a great place with amazing people if you‘re planning to go to Chitwan Nationalpark that‘s the place to stay :)

Best way to visit chitwan national park! Amazing accomodation and tour guide all in one. As Meghauli area is less visitied, Bishnu can bring you to calmer areas of the national park during his safaris, increasing the chance to see a lot of wildlife. He is a very knowlegeable and calm guide, making you feel safe during walk safaris at all time. The accomodation itself is very authentic, simple, but comfortable and peaceful surrrounded by nature. Bishnu's wife prepares amazing food daily.
As hosts you couldnt be more hospitable than Bishnu and his wife!
Nothing, it was perfect!

We spent 2 amazing days with Bishnu and is lovely family. They opened the doors of their house and made us feel immediately at home. Bishnu’s wife always cooked amazing meals for us (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and their children entertained us with typical dances.
We also did the walking safari with Bishnu and his friend and we saw a lot of animals ( including a bear!!!!).
Thank you so much again for everything!
It was a little bit warm in the cottage

Solo traveler; since I booked Bishnu was really great giving me information. I was on a budget so I arrive to barathpur in tour bus and followed his easy instructions to take a public bus to arrive to the place. (Bishnu also offers pick up but if you select my option download the map to now when to stop. From the highway where you get down the bus is a 5-10min walk)
Since I arrive I felt their hospitality. The safari that bishnu offers really brings peace, its a walking safari, no animals are used and lets you breathe and take your time and just let the nature reveal itself. Also if there is enough people (or if you asked for it) they arrange a presentation with some locals to show their traditional dances. (It has a cost but is not expensive)
His wife cooks really great I tasted the Dal Path and the Pakora. They are made with products from their farm and are some lf the best I have tasted.
The rooms are basic but clean and have a really good mosquito net (You will needed) and the wifi is really good.
Big thank you to bishnu and his family!
Ps: Bring a good camera, its worth it.
I don't have anything bad to say, for the ones reading just remember is not a 5 star hotel, but they do have a 5 star staff and its not in the same place as all of the hotels in the chitwan area.

Bishnu run a familiar lodge with great expertise in jungle tours. He help to arrange the transfer and indicated the cheapest way to go the airport.
Besides, Bishnu is a very nice person who is loved for nature and helping the guests.

It's a wonderful place to stay. The owner has a good reputation in the surrounding for organizing safaris, walks and other activities. A sweet family lives here to look after the guests, young kids can also meet good friends here. The food served is home cooked, one can choose whatever he/she wants to enjoy as meal & snack. No strict policies here, you get your own freedom to stay happily without chains. The owner has good contacts in local town and throughout Nepal, thus it's wise to keep his phone number handy in case you get stuck somewhere (+9779845951439). You will enjoy living in cottages here which is all together a different fun away from a concerte jungle.
Access to the lodge is poor. Hard to locate during nights. I have requested the owner to fix some sign boards on the main roads. Night traveling is not advised. You won't find people on roads to guide you if you are lost, also language becomes a big barrier. When you are travelling towards this place please ensure :
A. Stay in touch with the owner.
B. Carry a phone with international roaming.
C. Download offline maps in your phone.
D. Be an early bird, arrive at lodge in day time. Don't get stranded on service roads, in a dark shivering night where you don't find any local person to guide you.
E. Chitwan is a very big area, thus please be specific in asking for the lodge location. The location is 27 Meghauli, Bharatpur. The landmark on main highway is Chitwan Medical College in Bharatpur, post reaching there drive towards Meghauli. There is a big roundabout on the main highway and the lodge could be located at 25 km away from the roundabout. A milestone mark could be found depicting Meghauli 25 KM.
