Amazing views and lovely homely feel to the cabin. Having the cabin at 25* was also a welcome treat after the cold weather! Ideal veranda for watching the Aurora out of the wind! Well equipped and supplied with linen and towels. Only improvement would be that the blinds are replaced as very difficult to put away in the day - had to spend a while persuading them to draw back up. Thank you a real treat of a place to stay.

The property has such a cosy feel to it, that we instantly felt relaxed and at home. We arrived at the end of a unseasonably late cold spell, with the garden stream still frozen solid, but the house was utterly warm and comfortable. The views across the frozen estuary were captivating, and the steep mountains a way to the rear also made for a really interesting setting in which to start the holiday. We had one query (about securing the tub) during our stay, and the owner was extremely responsive in helping us figure something out.

The place was perfect for a 7 day stay with 5 adultes. Spacious and cozy. Well located to visit the beauté of Iceland.

Perfect location to enjoy the quiet side of Iceland. The cabin was extremely comfortable, clean, and filled with charming decor. The kitchen was very well stocked with equipment and basic staple ingredients. Karl was a fantastic host, responded quickly to questions, and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was as enjoyable as possible. If you're looking for an escape from the metropolitan experience of Reykjavik and want to enjoy the natural beauty of the Icelandic countryside in comfort, I highly recommend this location.

This was our third trip to Iceland but our first time staying at this cabin. The kitchen was well stocked with pots/pans and dishes and the place was well maintained. The view is stunning! I would recommend this as a good home base for exploring the west side. Thanks to our hosts for accommodating our last minute request as well.

Such a lovely property. Warm, cosy, well equipped with fabulous views. The sunset panarama was amazing to witness. The property is well situated for exploring the peninsula and Golden Circle sights.

We really enjoyed our stay in Borgarnes! It was the beginning of our Iceland journey. The house was only 45 min drive from Reykjavik. We explored Hraunfossar waterfall, which was one of our favorites in Iceland only 45 minutes East of the house. The drive takes you past local farms, just beautiful. Also not far from Snaefellsnes Penninsula….. we went there 2 days (less than an hour drive from the house).

This home was beyond expectations. The views were incredible and the hot tub was extremely enjoyable after a long day exploring.

Great property surrounded by water and hills. Only a ten minute drive into town but still get that great wilderness feel.

This home had all of the amenities needed for a perfect stay.

Warm and comfortable house in a beautiful location.

This is a wonderful property with stunning views all around. It is centrally located for exploring western iceland. The stairs to the upper bedrooms might be difficult for some. Hot tub was a lot of fun.

Very nice, clean and comfortable house. Great hot tub, far enough out of town to see the Northern Lights, which we could even see from the master bedroom.

Äußerst gemütliches Holzhaus, großzügig eingerichtet, prima Aussicht in alle Himmelsrichtungen. Sehr schön gelegen, etwas erhöht über dem Fjord. Hot tub am Abend sehr entspannend.

Von der Ausstattung war alles vorhanden, was man benötigt und wie es nach Beschreibung angegeben ist. Es ist alles eher in einem älteren Zustand und manche Sachen auch nicht mehr heile, aber für eine Woche mit Freunden im Urlaub ist es ausreichend. Kontakt war sehr gut und auch bei Fragen vor Ort wurde sofort geholfen. Der Hot Pot funktioniert auch im Winter.

Karl’s house is a lovely place to stay on the West coast of Iceland. The location is excellent, with 2 waterfalls easily viewable from the house. The house itself has an oven, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and a hot tub, which uses water from a local hot spring. I appreciate Karl can’t control the weather, but the west coast of Iceland is windy especially in Winter. Overall though our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We stayed several different places on our two week visit to Iceland, this was by far our favorite. We saw the northern lights on our first night there! The cottage was very comfortable and well supplied. But best of all the views from every window were spectacular!

Three wonderful days at this enchanting place. Perfectly located for exploring the west part of island. A cosy retreat to return to at the end of the day to reflect on the sights and plan the next adventures. Everything we needed was at our fingertips. I loved every minute. Thank you for hosting us.

This was our first couple of nights in Iceland and was a great location to start our exploration of the western side of the country. The cabin is placed right against a tall mountain and the views in front of the cabin and behind the cabin are unbelievable as are the sunsets. Beds were comfortable, hot soaking tub was wonderful and generally the cabin was just what we were looking for. Nothing fancy but good clean simple space with all necessary amenities.

Our family stayed here for 5 nights in the fall of 2017. The home was spacious enough for 6 adults and 1 child. We found the home clean and equipped with the essentials. Karl kept in contact via phone throughout our stay. Tap water is absolutely delicious. Take your empty water bottle and fill it daily at the house to take with you when you go out exploring this incredible area. The hot water is HOT, so take care with young children when washing hands or bathing them. The few toys at the house entertained my toddler while we made dinner each night. Bought groceries from Bonus in Borgarnes---but their opening hours are short (11:00-18:30), so plan accordingly. Mountains behind the home and river in front with horses grazing nearby are views iconic to Iceland. Even though there are other homes in the area, this one was situated so that there was plenty of privacy. We did not use the hot tub and the northern lights did not come out to play during our stay so we cannot comment on those... We would recommend this home to families looking to get away from it all. You can use it as a home base as we did if you are willing to travel a bit to see some of the more famous sights outside of West Iceland. The sights/vistas along our drives were well worth the journey.
