Hands down one of the best vacation rentals ever! It’s such a sweet property and the attention to detail is amazing. The cottage itself is attached to a main house, but feels completely private. Every space is tranquil, especially the master bedroom, enclosed front patio, and large backyard with a hammock. The house is well equipped with everything you could possibly need, and the owner Helen was quick and responsive to my texts throughout my stay. Overall this was an absolute gem of a place to stay while we searched for a home to buy in the area.

A hidden retreat
We were greeted with fresh flowers in every room and a basket or organic fruit and other treats. The property is attached to a main house but is so private and hidden you would never know there is anyone next door. The unit is beautifully appointed, spotless and the extra amenities make you feel like you are a guest in someone's home not in a rental. The place is prettier than is pictured. What you cannot see in pictures is that it is equipped with extra feather pillows, every toiletry you might have forgotten, laundry soap, a first aid kit, a desk with supplies, fully stocked supplies in the kitchen -baggies, napkins, foil, fragrant candles. The furnishings are comfortable with several throws and pillows, the towels are soft and plentiful, the place is spotless and a parking spot off the street! Helen is responsive and gracious in every way. If you get the chance, I absolutely recommend you stay here.

Home Away From Home
We stayed in Helen's place for 3 months while we were searching for a home - we sold our home in AZ and moved to California to be near our children and grandchildren. The place couldn't have been better. The little house was stocked with everything you could possibly need from spices and seasonings to laundry detergent. We felt right at home and our 2 little dogs loved hanging in the gazebo and roaming around the fenced in backyard. If there was a problem (only 2 times we needed someone to come fix a toilet) Helen had someone come that day .The home was situated in a wonderful part of town with plenty of restaurants and shopping. Helen recommended many places for us to do our shopping and eating. We highly recommend this property.

Between homes
The Hartsook House was the ideal home while we waited to buy and remodel our new condo. The house is very tastefully decorated, has everything and more than you need, and is in a very quiet and peaceful neighborhood, close to a park for exercise or walking. Helen, The property manager, was very responsive to a few special requests and the house was actually nicer than advertised. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

Wonderful spot!
We had a great 3 week stay. Close to a market for necessary goods, great place to walk, close to Magnolia Blvd. and our grandson (in Burbank) and close to freeways. A very relaxing, quiet, lovely spot. We hope to do it again next year. Helen and Diane were very quick with answers to any questions and very helpful.

Just as lovely, comfortable & convenient as advertised
This was the most pleasant VRBO stay we've had -- partly because of the location, gardens and interior decor, partly because of how thoughtfully and well-provisioned it is -- just like a real homey home. And partly because of Helen's responsiveness to our questions ahead of time. We were delighted, and are already planning to reserve when we come to LA again next fall.

North Hollywood Getaway
I recently stayed at the Hartsook Guest House and found the house charming and comfortably relaxing. The house had all the things one might need when traveling. The house was conveniently located near a bus route that connected us with the LA Metro. The house had plenty of space for my family of four to spread out and relax. We felt safe in the neighborhood with the doors open and enjoyed watching a squirrel in the backyard. This retreat home is a hidden gem in the city. We plan on returning again.

We have rent several houses trough Home Away but this has been far one of our favorites.
The house itself is beautiful, kitchen is packed with everything you need and even more.
Very high quality all the way around from towels to pillows, comforters, shampoo, conditioner the list goes on an on.
They absolutely tough of everything to make their guests feel comfortable and at home.
Neighborhood is nice and quiet and very close to Universal Studios.
Last but not least the backyard is perfect with lot of trees, barbecue and a beautiful hammock to relax on after a fun day.
So to say the least it was really hard to go back home we had an absolutely perfect stayed and we will for sure visit again soon! Thank you very much for the wonderful memories my family was able to make in your beautiful place.

Valley Village Wedding Weekend
We were 2 couples enjoying the house as our base during a wedding weekend. While the house is nicely appointed the 2nd smaller bedroom would be more welcoming if it was more well appointed as the master suite is.
It’s hard to share this house “fairly” with another couple for that reason. The garden was lovely and the owner and staff responsive. The only thing that would have made it a 5 star stay is that there was noisy repair and renovation work being done on the adjacent property owned by this host and we would have preferred it being done after our stay and not during.

Spacious, quaint, cozy, convenient
We enjoyed our visit! Several locations to relax in the private back yard, spacious living room and front patio. Kitchen was very well stocked. Great mattress in the master bedroom. Plenty of space for 3-4 adults and having a second full bath was perfect. The place is clean, cozy and very comfortable. Quiet neighborhood but easy access to the highway. Check in was a breeze. Our host was responsive and easy to connect with, but we had no need to reach her. We loved the place, had no issues, and would definitely stay here again!!

The property was in a cute neighborhood, and the accommodations were very comfortable with a washer and dryer and ample kitchen supplies. Our family of 4 enjoyed 5 nights being close all kinds of Los Angeles spots and attractions. Would definitely book again!

Hartsook Heaven!
This property is an adorable bungalow in N Hollywood. Immaculately clean, safe neighborhood and has everything one would need as well as convenient to anywhere in LA area. Property manager helped with not only reserving but how to get around, best routes to avoid traffic-even fresh flowers in every room. Would recommend 100%!

Peaceful Retreat
Nice quiet space to just relax, especially if recovering from a medical procedure. Fully equipped 2 bedroom with everything needed in the kitchen. All is there if you wanted to do full on extensive cooking. Only minor drawback was this property is on flight path of I assume the Burbank airport.

We really enjoyed our vacation in this guest house. The instructions and information that Helen sent us prior to our arrival were extremely valuable, from where to grocery shop to restaurants, local attractions, and even a local dentist should you need that type of help. The best feature was the location. Only 2 miles from Studio City, about 5 miles from Warner Bros. studios in Burbank, and about the same to Universal. Didn't even need to get on the freeways in some cases, which is a blessing. We did have an issue with the furnace and a small roof leak (probably because we got more rain in one day than they usually get in a month or more), but Helen had both issues fixed within a few hours.Don't let that concern you. I'm sure this was an isolated incident. We would definitely stay in this house again. Thanks, Helen!

Thoughtfully stocked, from a shoeshine kit to a welcoming goodie basket and real flowers! Helen and her team manage this lovely cottage so professionally and gave such great information so the only surprises were nice ones. Located in a quiet neighborhood, but it is close enough to everything. The cottage is so nicely decorated, well-equipped and relaxing, it was a thoroughly delightful treat to stay here!

This is the fourth property we have rented through Helen Walker. We have never been disappointed, The descriptions don't really do this guest house justice. Everything is first class and attractive. and the kitchen is so well supplied we could happily stay much longer and entertain much more than we needed to the 3 nights we were there - this time to take in the Rose Bowl and visit with our children and grandchildren. The openness of the rooms and the access to the outdoors are big pluses. The little patio at the front with comfortable chairs and couches and vine covered trellises is lovely to look out upon from the living room. I would readily recommend the property to people visiting the area who want a quiet, very convenient, and lovely place to stay, complete with off the street parking.

Just spent 3 days at this cozy guest house and I could not have been more comfortable. The surrounding area felt safe. The house has lots of privacy, the master bedroom is spacious with lots of natural light, the kitchen was just the rights size and the house is modernly decorated. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Note, don't try to squeeze in a 7th person unless they plan to sleep on the floor. The outside was charming. Helen communicates very well and answered all my questions immediately.

My husband and I and our two daughters nine and eleven stayed here for a long weekend. We have stayed in many VRBO rentals, and this was hands down the most well equipped and decorated home we have stayed in. Everything you can think of is there from shampoo, to muffin tins, to zip loc bags. It has two lovely outdoor spaces that are wonderful in the LA weather. It is incredibly comfortable and well laid out. The home is close to grocery stores (Gelson's, Vons and Whole Foods), as well as freeway access. Helen was an efficient and fast communicator, and the property instructions made check in easy. While the house is part of a larger property with another house on the property, we never saw another person and felt like we were in our own private oasis. I would not hesitate to rent this lovely home again.

The guest house was perfectly neat and clean when we arrived and there was a welcome basket of assorted fruit, cookies and popcorn. As we unpacked and settled in, we found the amenities to be excellent. We have rented many properties through HomeAway, but this was the best-stocked rental we have seen. There were plenty of towels, every kitchen utensil and appliance you could want, an excellent washer and dryer and cable tv with all the basic channels plus movie channels. The owner thought of everything for this guest house.
The house is situated on a quiet street in a nice neighborhood, but close to the major freeways in the valley. The private back yard is a very pleasant place to relax, as is the front veranda with Bougainvillea growing on the front trellis. The furniture is comfortable, the closet space is ample and there's even a gas fireplace. The owner is very nice, communicates well and is very accommodating.
If you're planning a visit to LA, you should definitely consider this property!

We were a group 16 people gathering in LA for a family wedding. We couldn’t have picked more perfect places to stay. We rented the main house and guest house plus Helen has another unit within walking distance of the Hartsook houses located Westbrook. I highly recommend any of these places; there was ample room so we weren’t all on top of each other. We liked to cook our own meals in the well-stocked kitchens; everything you could possibly need was there. Lots of fluffy bath towels, to the wonderful candles throughout made our stay like being at home. There are plenty of books to read, handy brochures to get you around town plus you are in a great location close to restaurants and grocery stores. These units are very homey with nice backyards for BBQ, I can’t say enough, this is the only way to go instead of a campy hotel, and they are clean and well managed. The only bad thing is we didn’t get to meet Helen in person. Oh and the personal touch of a welcome basket was awesome. Thanks so much Helen!

I would return to this property in a heartbeat. I do a ton of rentals for travel and this was the most well appointed rental I have ever stayed in. Beautiful furniture, robes, and well decorated. Kitchen had snacks, spices, fruit, oil and was beautifully appointed. The cleaning people did an excellent job as well. We were well cared for. You will not regret staying here. We loved all of her recommendations as well.

What can I say about this property apart from Amazing!!!
When we arrived this house was very clean (and I mean clean!) I felt as though I should take my shoes off before entering. This property is very well furnished and unbelievably stock. the area that this property is located in is fantastic, only 10mins away from Hollywood and Universal. This house made a great difference to our stay in LA (a previous stay in a different property was not so good). The only issue that I had with this house is that fact that its so welcoming you don't want to go out exploring LA, as we were only In California for one week and had a lot on our itinerary we didn't get much time to enjoy the house (BBQ, garden or hammock).
My wife loved all the small touches like spare cosmetics in the bathroom, condiments & teabags in the kitchen along with the space in both bedrooms.
Ive already saved the information of this property and will be recommending it to all family and friend that are thinking of taking a trip to LA, This will also be the first place I look for if I do get a chance to re-visit.

Not only is this residence beautifully decorated and maintained, but also all the kitchen and bathroom cabinets are fully stocked. What a convenience! There are thoughtful touches throughout - lots of non-skid hangars, a laundry basket, books, kitchen gadgets galore and a very comfortable bed and bedding. It's also close to several freeways and subway stations. Be aware that this is not a separate guest house but more a wing of a larger rental house. The small bedroom shares a wall with the larger residence. It also has a sizable skylight - a lovely addition, but not so great for anyone other than early risers!
