5 couples enjoyed the house for the weekend. Quiet and peaceful trip. House was note than big enough to accommodate our group!

The property needs some love. It needs updating and is very worn out and run down. The sliding windows are fogged up, paint is chipping, the shower in the master bathroom is a cheap prefab one, the cabinetry in the kitchen is cheap and gross, the toilet seat in the master won’t stay up, the upper rack of the dishwasher is broken, there is mold and mildew around the house, dining room chairs are broken and uncomfortable, reception on TV’s upstairs was not good, the outside shower did not work. For the amount of money we spent, over 13K, it was a very disappointing rental property. Would never go back!

When we read the reviews we were hoping the owner would have taken notice and fixed some of the things people stated months back that were going wrong with the house but that wasn’t the case. We also found a better house for less money that slept more people and thought we had time to cancel this one, only to find out Vrbo misleads with their “refund” calculator. The manager of this house was extremely helpful and responds quickly tho. She also stated Vrbo needs to word their cancellation policy better.
Pros:
*The beach is amazing and beautiful! it’s close to the house which is helpful with little ones.
Cons:
*Front door lock just spins
*Kitchen island chair broke, as in screws fell out onto floor
*Kitchen dining chairs are so uncomfortable and hideous and falling apart. Dining table needs a good refinishing.
*Bottom kitchen cabinet door right of stove is broken
*Upstairs bathroom door doesn’t lock, had to block it from the inside
*Several mattress’s upstairs need to be replaced, they are in shape of a V
*Bunk bed room shade broken, doesn’t open
*Main back deck top step is loose
*Main back deck is missing rails- dangerous for children. We laid a lounge chair down to block opening.
*Can’t see out main patio door which is a shame bc the views from the side windows are beautiful.
*Major lack of towels per person.
*Steak knives are extremely old and dull
*Pans are old
*Nailheads sticking up in floor of car port
*Car port floor also had moss or grease or something extremely slippery that unfortunately two of the children didn’t see and ended up flat on their backs on the hard floor. Had to cover that area with lounge chairs also
The shape of this house is really a shame,-it has just been let go and we hope it gets the attention and the maintenance it deserves soon.

This property is a really nice, large house. It is in a great location right on the beach. The beach is also a little more private since it is only houses in that area which was also nice. It was only about 4 miles from Hangout and all of the restaurants and attractions that surround it. Our only complaint was that the downstairs air conditioner did not work the majority of the week, but if you left a window cracked it felt fine. Overall a great stay. Would stay in the house again.

Beautiful, well laid out house, great location, but needs better attention to detail. The sliding glass doors downstairs were opaque with wear, somewhat corroded, missing handles, and broken locks. The downstairs lights flickered whenever kitchen appliances were used. The kitchen was well appointed, but all the food prep knives were dull as butter knives. The dining room chairs are past their useful life and falling apart. Shower valve in upstairs bathroom was loose and almost falling off. All TVs except the main one downstairs had constant tiling or pixillating problems and were sometimes unwatchable. We would stay there again but hope management pays more attention to details.

Where do I begin! For what we paid to stay 1 week the house had some issues. The upstairs bedroom floor was falling in at the patio door,the handle broke off another patio door in another upper level bedroom, only 1 TV worked and it was in living room,no outside light worked on balconies,upper bedroom light and fan wouldn't cut off,and had to buy some cookware because the biggest frying pan was only 12in.,and last but not least the air stopped working and maintenance didn't show until I called twice!..,and ants was all over the balcony and they will sting you,so the house needs attention before someone else has the same issues and has to pay hard earned money to stay there!we checked out a day early because of these issues!this was our 2nd stay at the sandy castle but I'll look elsewhere for next year!!!

Our regular house changed hands and is no longer available on VRBO, but we have done Gulf Shores/Fort Morgan for the past decade. This house is about as cozy as a DMV. Upon arrival the door lock (that is covered in caulk?) just spun when trying to get in, luckily one of the back sliding doors was unlocked so we were able to get in. Plenty of room for my family of 5 and one pooch, just desperately needs some remodeling and any kind of life from the decor. Don't get me wrong, we go for the beach, and the access is perfect and it is a great section of beach. However when traveling with kids everyone likes a little entertainment at night and there are only 2 TVs in the house that offer more than over the air channels. Half of the pans are burnt up, each room has 1 wall decoration. We brought 2 vehicles because we had to bring everything from garbage bags to beach chairs.
I have rented much better places at this price point and after seeing the properties under Pickett management while driving around for next years stay, they are obviously the cheapest intown based on the properties they rep. There are way better houses out there at this price point from my experience of renting beachfront, pet friendly 4BR+ houses since 2010

This house was perfect for our group of 5 families - 9 adults and 5 kids. We all fit in the house perfectly without feeling cramped - it was very easy to hang out and enjoyed meals together. The best part of the house is the proximity to the beach. We have been coming to Gulf Shores for the last 16 years and it was the most private experience we have had on the beach.

The property location was great for us. The beach is so private compared to the East end. We had 16 of us with 6 kids from 3 - 12 yo, so dining out was not an option for me. We loved grilling out and having large family dinners.

Dirty but Great Location
Overall, the house was spacious and accommodated 14 people nicely. However, the place badly needs updating. The kitchen was filthy and the floor in an upstair bedroom was starting to rot because of rain water seeping through the sliding glass doors. Yes that happened during a bad storm. There were broken locks on sliding doors and broken faucets on the outside shower. Location is perfect. Just need to put some money into the house to update it.

Spring Break 2022
We loved this property, easy to book, great for a big group, plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. Decor is very nice and relaxing. Beach is right off the deck, and secluded. Plenty of room on the beach for a full size volleyball net. Easy to get to town for dinner if you want to go out. We made most of our meals at the house, kitchen equipped. We will be back. Thank you.

The property was beautiful and clean. It had plenty of room for our family to spread out and do our own thing but plenty of space for us to all come together for meals, games, and conversations. The beach was just steps off the back porch and made it easy to go back and forth to the house with a toddler! We would highly recommend staying here, we hope to stay again soon!

Big house right on the beach
Very pretty house. The location couldn’t be beat. It is right on the water. We had an issue with a cabinet door and our last night the downstairs a/c was acting up, but the property manager was very responsive. I hate that hurricane Ida cut our stay by one night. All 10 of us that stayed there really enjoyed it.

This house is in a great location. Down fall is the house desperately needs some updates. Especially on a couple of bathrooms. The downstairs master bath needs updates. Shower has Mildew on it’s caulking. As baseboards are needed and what is there needs painting. 1/2 bath was ok. Upstairs master needed updating. Matress in downstairs master is not comfortable at all.
