No central air conditioning, just 3 room units in a very large house, thus we were grateful for the cool (55°) nights.
Alton is remote. Closest retail is miles away and very expensive. We purchased groceries in Kanab on the way in at reasonable prices.
The family truly enjoyed the golf setup, grassy yard, fire pit and large, comfortable rooms.

We had a wonderful week at Alton Lodge. Plenty of room for our large family vacation with 9 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms in the main lodge. We also reserved the adjoining 2 apartments over the garage. Plenty of beds for everyone using the queen mattresses in the lofts. (We took our own sheets (which are not provided) to use on the loft queen size mattresses). We are very grateful the mattresses are provided for optional use. The area is absolutely beautiful, many deer and fun trails to explore. We had nightly volleyball games at the sand court on the property. S’mores at the fire pit was so fun!
Having so many bathrooms (11 in total!!) was a big plus for a large family with children. The AC units provided adequate cooling and at night we just opened the windows to the cool night air. Orderville is 19 miles away and we found everything we needed at Terry’s Food & Drug (grocery store). The golfing was a plus on the property and several of our group went to Thunderbird Golf Course for a day out. Lots of places to sit for meals, comfortable living areas and lots of room indoor and out. We are hoping to book for next summer. One of our favorite places and locations. Comfortable beds and ample kitchen space for food and storage of refrigerated items. The ICE MACHINE was a marvelous surprise! Plenty of ice all week! We have been renting for family vacations like this for 30 years and this is the one we want to go back to again. Thank you to the Heaton family for sharing!

The house and apartments, above the garage, provided 11 bedrooms for my group of 26. Great gathering spaces in the LARGE home, but we felt secluded in the quiet neighborhood. Lots of outdoor space with a large patio and plenty of parking.

The Lodge is true luxury. It’s very clean and extremely spacious. Lots of games & activities for all ages.
We had our small wedding reception out on the lawn and the hosts were super accommodating!

Lovely large home with more than enough room for our family of 17 to gather from Virginia, Oregon and Canada for a week. Located within and hour of Bryce and Zion. Lots if other neat hikes, caves and museums nearby.
Very clean, well stocked, comfy beds and furniture. Two refrigerators, large freezer and ice machine.
Owner open to suggestions for some needed repairs.
Would definitely stay again.

We had a great family reunion on the property and found lots of fun activities nearby. The lodge is beautiful and spacious. The only drawbacks were we were there during the middle of July and the rooms were uncomfortably hot with minimal air conditioning. A mouse or squirrel must have died in the laundry room making that area disgustingly odiferous. More portable fans in the bedrooms may have helped.

This a wonderful home. The house was excellent for our large extended family. Our group had a variety of ages from 6 months to 68 years of age. The kitchen & dining spaces inside & out were lovely. The extra fridge & laundry were a huge help. We found the location to be excellent for hikes in Bryce Canyon, Cedar Breaks, Grand Canyon N Rim and Zion National Parks. Julie the owner was wonderful to work with and communicated with us on everything. We would definitely stay here and again and highly recommend it.

We loved our stay at the Alton lodge. It was perfect to accommodate all our family. There was 28 of us! I wish we had known they don't provide linen for the mattresses in the lofts. There are enough beds for 24 people in the 9 bedrooms. Plenty of places to sleep with the mattresses in the lofts, but bring your own sheets if you want to use those mattresses. There are 9 bathrooms which is great when you have a group that large. The outdoor property is amazing! Perfect area for all our outdoor games. The kitchen/dining area is perfect for such a large group! The location itself is stunning, so beautiful and peaceful. The owners are great to work with. Very easy to get a hold of with questions and needs. We will definitely be coming here again in the future.

We had a lovely stay at the Alton Lodge when we travelled to Utah.
Plenty of room for Family and Friends to be together, and a good location for visiting Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks!
We even made it to Lake Powell for a day!
Host was communicative and helpful.
Rooms and bathrooms were comfy and clean and nicely decorated.
Fire pit was fun….we brought our own wood.
Weather and time prevented us from using the volleyball court.
Pool table could use some updated pool sticks but the upstairs was wonderful and warm.
Garage apartments were perfect for those in our group that needed to check in with work and also for extra friends that joined us.
Kitchen was well stocked and we loved cooking together most nights.
Outdoor deck had beautiful views and was wonderful for coffee each crisp morning.
We will never forget our time together in this welcoming place.

My hubby & I are newly married and brought our 2 family’s together as one this spring. Some driving from Cache Valley & St George to Alton. Ours was a family event of 15 adults and 3 children.
For me I judge a cabin by kitchen and couch sitting room. This is the first cabin that I have rented that had more then enough sitting room. Couches upstairs, downstairs and a favorite of my children’s was the sunken room around a gas fireplace.
A spacious clean kitchen with gas oven and 2 fridges. We had more then enough room for all.
9 bedrooms with adjoining bathrooms fit our group perfectly. Upstairs is a tv area and pool table that the kids played while adults watched tv one night.
Our group played hide and seek inside, which was so fun we didn’t get to our card games. But there’s plenty of card game table space inside. FYI, Bring your chess, checkers and your own cards.
Everything is in working order. Outside in the garage is a gym and ping pong table that the teen boys loved. Other games the family used is corn hole.
The mountain view is beautiful, the town is lovely.
We had snow outside due to Utah’s high snowfall level this spring, so the family played and sled in the snow. Some jogged down the roads for exercise.
Whether you are a large or small group, the views and cabin atmosphere rate high.
My advice is stay longer!

I wish I had 2 more hands to give the Alton Lodge 4 thumbs up. This was my 3rd time renting this property and will for sure be back. The house is perfect for large groups. We had about 20 people-mix of adults and kids and we all had a blast. There was snow on the ground when we went and the kids would play for 45 min and when they got cold they would come in and warm up and then back out. Plenty of space for everyone to relax and not feel on top of each other. The Heatons are great communicators and they replied to our one issue with the ice maker within the hour. Highly recommend this place!!!

The cabin is big and beautiful. Just needs some updating. There were some things not working and it is getting a little run down. With some updates it would be amazing.

This was our first time here and we had a large group with handicapped and elderly. Had a great time. The commercial kitchen was excellent and fully stocked. The cabin was wheel chair friendly and we had a sibling with muscular dystrophy who also enjoyed herself in her wheelchair. It was able to accommodate three or four elderly that came that couldn’t do stairs. Perfect for family vacation with grandparents. It was very beautiful and accommodating. I’m thinking to do more outings out of this cabin. Thanks!

This home was beautiful inside and out with large open areas to play in. There were nice bathrooms in each room. Huge kitchen area that was stocked with everything we needed. The volleyball court had soft, beach -like, beautiful sand and chairs around the edges. The outside views were gorgeous. The downside is that whoever cleans this home left the tile floors dirty. When we had a spill the paper towel came up black as did the kitchen chairs. The screen doors didn’t run in there tracks which caused stress with children running in and out. BUT we would rent it again if there was a little more attention to it’s up keep. The cleaning fee isn’t being put to good use.

Great Place!
The lodge is beautifully finished and furnished in a rural farming community, and proved a wonderful place for our family reunion. It is conveniently located to Bryce Canyon and other beautiful southern Utah scenery.

Wonderful Family Vacation
We experienced an amazing week at the Alton Lodge! The family had a wonderful time playing around the spacious yard; the chipping range was a hit, the volleyball court made for several friendly matches, the surrounding scenic landscape was beautiful! The kitchen was spacious and well equipped; the oven door gave us fits for the first couple of days but once we figured a work around it all went smoothly. Thoroughly enjoyed the property and highly recommend the Alton Lodge!

Beautiful lodge for a large family group vacation to Bryce
This lodge home is huge, with plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the beautiful scenery at Alton. There was plenty for the kids to do including a huge yard to toss balls, practice golf, do cartwheels, and more. The gorgeous kitchen was great for making meals for a big group. Bryce NP is about an hour away. Our extended family had a great time here!

Overall, we had a very enjoyable time. The only issue was that the extra rooms were rented out to strangers if they weren’t rented by us. Just a little confusion we’ll avoid next time.

50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration Vacation!
Six adults and six children stayed in this gorgeous property! We all had plenty of room to be together and apart with our own immediate family. It was a wonderful 50th Anniversary celebration for my husband and I because we had the whole family with us to share it! We toured Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon and ended in Sedona. This home was a perfect start!

Second time at Alton Lodge and had a really good trip with the family! Had a few minor issues with the hot water but texted the owner and they were on property within an hour to fix. Really great place to stay! Will be back for sure..!

Awesome Location and Awesome Cabin
This is the 2nd time I've used this booking and it is a great place to stay. Julie has been very responsive and helpful to us. The mornings are amazing to wake up with a cup of coffee and look out the big bay windows.

Perfect for our large family getaway!
We booked this cabin for our family Christmas party. We knew it would be nice but it exceeded our expectations. We really enjoyed our stay. This is the perfect setup for accommodating large groups. We hope to stay again.

Beautiful well maintained spacious property.
Alton Lodge was amazing! The house was beautifully maintained with many upgrades. We visited with 3 families, 16 people, (all with teens, young adults and one with a wheelchair). The house was set up well for us to be together, but there were also separate areas for those who wanted to break off. The kids enjoyed all the fun activities the house had to offer like a golf hole, pool table and playing games on the lawn. The kitchen was large, well equipped and easily sat all 16 of us with two large kitchen tables. The living room area was a spacious and comfortable place to gather in the evening to relax and play games, with a gorgeous view of the mountains and a few cows:). If you are looking for quiet, this location hit the nail on the head. Alton is a very small farming community with no businesses. It is centrally located between Bryce and Zion (about an hour from each). The owners were quick to respond every time we had questions and even stopped by to fix a small problem we had while we were there. Alton is a very safe community and we felt very safe while there. If we had one suggestion it would be to fix the locks on the back doors. While we always felt safe, it would just be nice to lock up at night or while sight seeing during the day. Otherwise, if you are looking to get away from the craziness of life or big city, this is the place for you.

Had a great time with plenty of space for 40 people. Loved the out door lawn area. Appliances could use an upgrade, and lots of flies being next to cow/horse pen. But overall great time!

Great Home!
This is a fabulous property out of the way yet right in the center of the outdoor playground of Southern Utah. Loved the house and the owners were wonderful to work with. The home had plenty of room for a large group and many options for entertainment on property and nearby with all of the outdoor fun in the area. Thanks for a wonderful place to build some amazing familiy memories.

We had a total of 14 family members. We travelled from Texas, Florida and California. The house was perfect for our group. Lots of room to spread out both indoors and outdoors. So much to see within easy driving distance. I can see us doing this trip again in the near future.

Awesome place!
My family and friends throughly enjoyed this cabin, several activities were available in the surrounding areas and within the property as well! Duck creek, navajo lake and Bryce canyon were our choices of the surrounding activities. The cabin was super clean and communication with the owner was great.

First VRBO Experience
Our family and friends had a great experience at this authentic log built home that had all the amenities and then some. We even bought a giant ball at Walmart to enjoy the professional volley ball court. I would highly recommend this property as home base to visit Zion and Bryce. One tip is to buy all your food and beverages before arriving as you will be off the grid. It’s a good life.

Amazing lodge!
Highly recommend Alton Lodge - couldn't have had a better stay and the location is so peaceful. Only issue was the coffee maker wasn't working properly and guests should know to buy groceries before arriving as the nearest store was about 30-40 minutes away. But highly recommend and hope to be back!
