This was a really enjoyable, vintage beach house. It was convenientnto use an elevator to bring in a carload of supplies. The kitchen is well equipped, and the beds were comfortable. It is a great house for hide and seek! There is plenty of seating available and the 4 full bathrooms were convenient. The one thing the house could use is better lighting. The ceiling lights are almost too much and there was only one floor lamp in the livingroom area. The bedrooms had table lamps that needed brighter bulbs. So, if you are looking for a classic beach house with lots of room, this one is great!

Our stay at Forbes Fever met our needs and more. House was nostalgic enough to make a homey feel.
Kitchen was stocked well that met our cooking desires. All of the kiddos loves the private pool. Nice jaunt to the beach with private access.

Nine family members ranging in age from 28 to 86 enjoyed a week at Forbes Fever in mid March, 2023. Our stay was delightful. We came from Kansas, St. Louis and Wake Forest. The house allowed us plenty of together space but also allowed us to have our own private spaces. The home is lovely with a well equipped kitchen and a large dining room table that accommodated everyone and was a great place for playing cards and working puzzles. We were there preseason so it was cold some days but we enjoyed the walks along the ocean even if we had to bundle up. This was a great central location for visiting Hattaras and Roanoke and Manteo. Our party also included a seven year old Wire Fox Terrier who thoroughly enjoyed himself. We loved staying in this charming beach home. The elevator was a bonus and really helpful for my mother.

Forbes Fever is a gem. She is an Old Girl, but well maintained, clean, and cozy. New updates to baths noted, and decking updates started as we left. It was fully stocked, even with spare heaters and blankets tucked away as it was 10 degrees one day. Elevator was great for grandparents and for our old dog whose back went out during the stay.
The outdoor space was amazing. View from upstairs is beautiful and the direct walkway to beach was nice. Our dogs had the time of their lives! It was completely dog friendly but you would never know dogs had been there (no smells, hair, fur, stains, scratches, wear and tear).
The layout is unique but cool. It allows for cozy nooks and separation of space, but with large common areas. There are 2 upstairs, not connected to each other on second floor. This allowed for the older kids to have their own "kid's floor" on 2nd floor.
The property management company was very responsive, even on a holiday. They were very kind and easy to work with.
Location is very convenient to shopping, outlets, entertainment, lighthouses, pier, restaurants, veterinarian and urgent care, groceries, pharmacy, etc. Best of all Ocean Front.
We had family come in from all over NC for Christmas, we brought a full size, pre-lit tree, decorated it with shells and coastal ornaments, drank eggnog, baked cookies, exchanged gifts, and played games.
When I have read books set in beach cottages, this is what I imagine. It is very cozy but surprisingly spacious and can accommodate large families. The mid century coastal decor and original door latches are perfect!
We did not get to use the pool or utilize the decks and gazebo this time, but we hope to visit again in warmer weather!

Loved the house!
Loved the Old Nags Head Style! We need a large property for our family vacation & this property fit the bill! The dogs were able to enjoy their stay with easy access to the dog run too! We were a little hesitant after reading reviews with the maintenance/linen operating out of the underside out of the house but there were absolutely no issues and we did not even know anyone was there. The pool, decks and access to the beach are excellent and we were all able to enjoy all our favorite parts of OBX - swimming, boogie boarding, crabbing, fishing, building sand castles - all of it! The rental company is by far one of the best I've rented from and went above and beyond even after our stay was over.

Family Vacation June 2022
We weren't sure we'd like the "old" style house, but once we arrived we really liked it. Everything was as described in the listing and the property manager was extremely attentive to make sure our stay was wonderful. We would certainly book again.

Right on the beach
This property seemed exactly as described on VRBO. There were a few amenities I didn't see listed anywhere; iron and ironing board, plenty of blow dryers, all TVs had live shows. With a range in age from 56-82, the elevator was a must and was in good working order. It goes to the 3rd floor as well, which I didn't see anywhere in the listing, so that's very helpful.

What a wonderful classic ocean side house. We loved the old charm. Being able to walk out your door and be oceanside was exactly the r&r we where looking for. The beds and furniture inside where all very comfy. The chairs under gazebo are beyond shot and need to be replaced, unsafe!

Amazing house and gorgeous beach location
We had an absolute blast staying here. The beach front is so lovely...gorgeous dunes and amazing view of the beach. The house is so much fun...everything you need and so much character and hidden surprises. It was a truly wonderful place and I'd highly recommend it!!

Long Relaxing Getaway Weekend
We were charmed by the house. The paneling is beautiful and the decorations are unique and eclectic. The house is well kept and was very clean. The kitchen was updated and well-stocked. We loved that we could hear the ocean from inside of the house (with the windows and sorts closed)! That’s rare. The master suite on the third floor was perfect and the private roof deck it has was one of my favorite things about the house. The Roku TVs were a nice bonus. We also loved reading the information about the owner’s impressive bio and that the proceeds from the rental still help fund the charities she donated to when she was alive.
A couple of minor suggestions: 1) Please update the instructions for the elevator (and post them inside of the elevator) to explain that you have to push the button for the floor again once you have arrived at that floor, in order for the door to unlock - we had to call for help because we were locked inside of the elevator when we first arrived!). 2). We know there were comments that the outdoor furniture will be replaced this Winter. This is good - and necessary. I sat in one of the rocking patio chairs in the gazebo and it flipped backwards, which hurt my neck.
We highly recommend this rental!

Super location!
Loved our trip to Nags Head with family to celebrate a surprise birthday. House was very spacious and the views are phenomenal. The house is very “old school” kind of like the spending the night at Grandma and Grandpas. Very eclectic lots of random knickknacks. Beds were very comfortable.

Perfect Get-Away
We celebrated 38 years of marriage with our adult children and 2 dogs. Everyone had plenty of room, with a good mix of private moments and group fun.
Comfortable furniture and a large dining room table gave us space to gather together. I loved the gazebo!
My only request would be installation of safety hand rails around the tub and shower. My old knees aren’t what they used to be.

We had a great time with easy beach access. My issue was I was not aware housekeeping would be out front and under the house most of the day, every day.. This kept me from enjoying the front porch on most days. I felt the property should clearly state that housekeeping is there all day on the first floor and in front of the house working. I
could hear talking from a bedroom early in the morning. This was an inconvenience to me and my family as I felt like we were intruding. There was an incident where our cars were blocked for a short time as well.

Family vacation
We had a great time! House was clean, plenty of room for everyone. My grandsons really enjoyed the pool (age 4 and 5) my grand daughter loved the privacy of the upstairs bedroom (age 11)
I think the most used and everyone’s favorite spot was the gazebo a lot of memories made thank you

A perfect location and wonderful "old school" beach house!
We loved it at Forbes! It was the perfect house for our family of 9. The outside decking could use some renovation and the cleaning service is housed in the lower level of the home which we weren't expecting, but they were very nice and responsive and we barely knew they were there. We hope to stay in the home for years to come. Thank you!

I selected this cottage based on the beach location, proximity to areas of interest, and the traditional cottage appeal. We were not disappointed and we truly enjoyed our time down at Nags Head.

Great Vacation
covered all bases for a great beach vacation, rooms kitchen and bathrooms are all fine for a week at the beach. The only change I'd like to see is better outdoor living on the backside of the house. Would def return!

Forbes Fever
Pros: the agency was very easy to work with. Actually awesome. The house was very clean and no bugs. A big plus ! The cleaning and maintenance crew were very respectful and you didn’t even know they were around. The house is very Accommodating for a large group. The kitchen is very well-stocked with every itemyou need it cooking in. The pool is an add a touch after coming off the beach.
Con: The gazebo was an added touch to sit out of the hot sun but the porch furniture needs replaced. I’ve had three back surgeries went to sit in the chairs and unless you propped it up against something the chair went completely back. Just a warning to people who have back issues or for the elderly. The chairs actually need to be replaced. The house is a little dated and could use some new furniture.

Great Property
We absolutely loved this house. A private walkway to the beach made it so easy and then coming back yo enjoy the pool, we couldn’t have had a better time.
For alone time, there are tv’s in all bedrooms and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and the old style nautical decor was perfect! We will be back

Great stay!
The house fit 12 people comfortably, was very clean (which is huge for me), had a great beachy feel, and was overall as advertised. We couldn't have been happier--it was a great vacation.

Fun for all
Property was just as the listing stated. I have rented numerous other houses and this one was top notch. I have never saw a kitchen that was that stocked with everything and anything you could possibly need. The bedroom's were roomy and the mattress were wonderful. My 5 year old cryed when we had to leave, she wanted to stay another 10 days. Great vacation!!!

Nice Getaway!
We really enjoyed our stay in this home. It is an older home, but has so much charm! We enjoyed the pool and sitting outside under the gazebo. We wished that we could have seen the ocean from the back deck, but the water was just a short walk away. We would definitely stay agagin!

We had a good time with family however there are many faults with the house - from windows that are impossible to see thru to walkways that are falling apart to lounge chairs that have the stuffing coming out of the cushions. There were windows that fell apart when opened, blinds that wouldn't work, an old bed frame in the sand outside the house, chairs that, etc. However, my biggest complaint is that you did not show on the listing that this was Grand Central Station for your cleaning and maintenance crews. People coming and going at all times; items being spray painted in the driveway. I was going to ask for a partial refund since I thought we were sharing the house with others but my wife said to let it go. Finally on our last full day, you had a roof repair person banging away for at least 2 hours of our rented time in the house. The house certainly needs repaired but not when it is being rented out. That should have been done with no renters there. Ronnie was great - but your listing did NOT accurately describe what was being rented.

Nice place and dog friendly
It was easy to book and communication was very clear so we knew what to expect. The house is older however well maintained and in a great location. My wife and our dogs loved the place and being right on the beach made for lots of beach time. The elevator was a bonus when unloading and loading the truck rather than carrying everything up a flight of stairs. Our older lab enjoyed the elevator as he's not great with lots of steps. Would definitely stay there again.

Absolutely loved this house!
This house is just great all around! The location, the space inside, the comfy beds- but most importantly (to me) was how clean it was!! And absolutely zero issues with bugs. It was so amazing to be able to hear the ocean from the deck, and even inside the house using the screen door. It was also really nice having tv's in all the bedrooms as well- I was able to play some music videos for my kids during nap time/night time like how we do at home. I would definitely stay here again and again!

This house was extremely clean for being pet friendly. It was a great house and a great stay. The pool was a nice addition to an oceanfront property and the outdoor shower helped to warm up chilly bodies. The private access to the beach was easy to use.

Awesome Place to Stay
My family and I stayed at this property for my birthday. Although it was cold outside, we enjoyed being so close to the beach. We bundled up and took our 2 dogs for walks and utilized the grill to cook outside. The home is very spacious. The bedrooms are in separate sections of the house, which was nice. My husband, son and I slept upstairs and my in-laws and their daughter slept on the 1st floor. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook breakfast and dinner each day. I enjoyed the beautiful sunrise and sunset from the master bedroom deck. I would definitely love to spend my birthday here again.

Great price and location
The house was very clean. We loved being right on the sand and enjoyed our short stay even though it rained the entire time. We also loved the location of the property.
