Villa Romantica, una casa espaciosa, luminosa, aireada y pacífica de la época colonial en el bullicioso centro histórico de Mérida. Esta casa es una creación del reconocido arquitecto local Henry Ponce y cuenta con una cocina y comedor interior / exterior, así como una espaciosa sala de estar interior / exterior que rodea el patio y la piscina.
En la planta baja hay dos habitaciones espaciosas con aire acondicionado, cada una con su propio baño privado para su privacidad y comodidad. Un dormitorio tiene una cama king size con dosel y el otro tiene una cama queen con dosel. También en la planta baja hay una sala de estar formal donde puedes ver la televisión de Netflix con comodidad con aire acondicionado.
Desde la sala de estar interior / exterior se encuentra la gran escalera, que es en sí misma una obra de arte. En la parte superior de la escalera está la suite principal que da al patio. Habitación con aire acondicionado, 2 camas grandes y baño privado con un hermoso atrio. También en el nivel superior hay una gran terraza en la azotea con vistas a la ciudad. Lugar ideal para tomar un café por la mañana o tomar un poco más de sol.
Cuando cae la noche te enfrentarás a una decisión difícil. ¿Subes las escaleras y disfrutas del cielo nocturno estrellado y escuchas los sonidos de la ciudad incluyendo el clip clop, clippity clop de carruajes tirados por caballos? O tal vez simplemente relájese en la cama junto a la piscina al lado del patio de abajo y disfrute del increíble ambiente creado por la iluminación y las fuentes de la piscina. El Paseo De Montejo, el amplio bulevar bordeado por mansiones construidas en el siglo XIX, está a solo tres minutos a pie. Desde aquí, puede hacer un recorrido por Paseo en caballo y carruaje.

This house is absolutely incredible. The location was absolutely ideal and the host maintained constant communication with me. I have had the pleasure of staying at numerous accommodations on VRBO and Air B&Bs, and I must say, this particular one has secured the top spot on my list. Our party of six recently stayed at Villa Romantica in the Centro district of Merida, Mexico, and we couldn't have been more pleased with our experience. Before we arrived, our host Colum was incredibly responsive and accommodating with any questions we had. During our stay, he texted us often to make sure that our stay was perfect.
One of the highlights of our stay was Colum's helpful suggestions. He provided us with a list of must-visit attractions, local restaurants, and some of the hidden gems in the area. Thanks to his recommendations, we were able to explore and experience the city and truly immerse ourselves in the vibrant culture of Merida.
The villa itself was absolutely amazing. The charming architecture and tasteful decor created a romantic and cozy atmosphere that made us feel right at home. There were three bedrooms, each with an attached bath. The rooms were very spacious, clean, and well-maintained, providing us with a comfortable retreat after a long day of exploring the city.

First, my 6-yo wants to just move into this place and live there. :-) It was gorgeous, exactly as we expected from the photos.
The hosts also go out of their way to offer ideas and suggestions during your stay. For instance, they connected us with their recommended driver, who was really more like a tour guide. He suggested different cenotes than we’d planned on seeing, and omg are we glad we listened to him! I’ve been in a lot of cenotes, including scuba diving in one, and the place he took us was like out of a movie.
The hosts also suggested a massage therapist, which really helped my 70-yr-old dad when he was having hip and leg pain.
I wanted to book here again for our next vacation, which was several months away, but this place was already booked! Get a spot here if you can.

The property is every bit as stunning as the photos suggest, furnished with everything a guest could need. Every detail has clearly been well considered for both aesthetics and ease of use.
Beyond that, the level of support we received from Natalie from well before check-in to after we were on our way was extraordinary. Super host, super concierge doesn't begin to describe it -- the best host experience I've experienced from a vacation rental by far.
Booking Alejandro for day trips to Celestun and to Izamal were also highlights.

I can't say enough positive about Villa Romantica. We have rented properties all over the world, but will never forget this oasis of cool calm near the very center of Merida. We were wowed by the online pictures, but they don't quite do justice to the scale of the place--it's huge! After hot days climbing Mayan ruins, it was the perfect place to come home to. Merida is a dense, busy city--but step through the door of Villa Romantica and you instantly relax. Nothing was missing--kitchen well equipped, beds comfy, A/C well-functioning. Natalie was responsive and eager to make sure we were happy. Don't hesitate--book this property!

This home is just incredible. So beautiful and so comfortable. The owners went above and beyond in welcoming us and providing tips for things to do with our young kids. The location is extremely walkable. The pool was too chilly for me in December but my kids had no problem. Really an incredible oasis and plenty of space for larger families or groups traveling together. Highly recommend!

Walking in to Villa Romantica was breathtaking. It was hard to believe that on the other side of such a simple looking facade, was an hacienda style, instagrammable magnificence. The rustic decor, the high ceilings, the archways and the lighting in all the right places gave the house a charming and romantic vibe. The icing on the cake, was the atrium and the pool within the living space was the cherry. I don’t think it could’ve gotten better than those features… until we got to the top of the house. Wow! Really blown away… a view of perfection. The lounging and relaxation space was so well thought out with such beautiful and colorful furniture and decor. The view of the town was pretty good.
I didn’t want to leave the house. Each bedroom was spacious with its own spacious bathroom and its own air conditioning unit that is a must for those really hot moments. I couldn’t recommend Villa Romantica more in your next vacation to Mérida. It was a true experience.

The pictures do not do this place justice, we have stayed all over the world and this is by far the best property that we have ever had the immense pleasure to stay. You walk in and everything is exquisitely decorated and everything is hand selected for you to have a perfect experience in this house. The smallest detail for your stay has been thought about, the music system with Alexa, the lighting of the courtyard, the bedrooms being so comfortable and quite (sleep is everything to us). The property manager/owner was so incredibly responsive and thoughtful. This is a historic home that has been restored to its original glory fit for the aristocratic which it was built for. My only regret was that we wished we could have stayed longer.

First the house is beautiful! Well apoointed furniture tastefully decorated. Owner communication was top notch! Close to many restaurants and points of interest. Owners even placed an order that we asked for from walmart and items were in the house. They even made restaurant recommendations. Everything about the house, hosts and location was amazing. Natalie and Colum were excellent hosts. Their communication was responsive and helpful, even before we had even booked the house. The house is truly amazing. If you think the pictures are beautiful, it is even better in person. Every room (and outdoor space) had so many unique design details. The downstairs king bed was very comfortable. The location was great for walking to everything - restaurants, shops, and the tree lined Paseo de Montejo. We felt 100% safe walking around the neighborhood, day or night. We visited many of the restaurants the hosts suggested, and all were amazing.

Words and photos can’t do the Villa Romantica experience justice. The property and most of all the hosts were simply incredible. This is by far the best VRBO experience we have ever had.
We rented Via Romantic for the month of February 2023. We had been to Merida several times in the past so knew how much we enjoyed the city but Villa Romantica and Natalie and Colum made us fall in love with this old colonial city.
The property is very special. A beautifully renovated old colonial in PERFECT location (walk to everything…and a wonderful bakery/coffee shop 2 doors down). The rooftop garden is glorious in the morning and the evening. The plunge pool provides a lovely place to cool off after a day exploring the city or nearby ruins. Natalie and Colum have seen to every detail for their guests. The linens are lovely, the kitchen is well-equipped (although with all the great restaurants in Merida, we rarely ate at home), the laundry facilities (a malfunctioning dryer was fixed within hours) were modern and easy to operate, and bathrooms were spotless. Natalie and Colum had stocked the frig and pantry for our arrival and had them restocked during our stay. Colum even arranged to add ESPN to the TV channels so my husband could get his morning sports talk show fix. They responded immediately to any questions. We’ve never had such thoughtful, attentive hosts; they treated us like old friends from the moment we arrived. Don’t miss this very, very special experience!

Our family of 6 including a 77 yr. old grandma and 3 children ages 10,10, 5 absolutely loved Villa Romantica. Aside from the home itself, the owners, Natalie & Column were AMAZING. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a great trip. From helping with restaurant reservations, groceries, and ultimately securing a doctors visit for our 5 year old who flew with a massive ear infection. They also helped us contact Alejandro for daily excursions and he was wonderful to work with. We cannot thank Natalie & Column enough and we will definitely be back knowing we are in such great hands. THANK YOU both!!!!

We’re always on the lookout for the unique & well appointed place that will feel homey & relaxed, yet be a step above everyday life—it’s a vacation, right?!? I can’t say enough great things about Villa Romantica. The hosts were super communicative, all of the instructions were easy to understand & the property is SO spacious. The setup is great for sleeping privacy but entertaining & socializing ease! We hired a private chef one evening & they were as impressed with the home as we were. Enjoy this magical property.

They made us dinner reservations at some of their favorite restaurants and also set us up with their driver for some excursions. When some issues arose at the house they were immediate in the response and had people there the next morning to fix it! We will stay here again when we return to Merida!

Villa Romantica lives up to its name. This is a beautiful rental, and the hospitality shown by Natalie and her team was amazing. On our very first day, we left a laptop bag in the taxi coming from the airport. With help from Natalie and Alejandro (our driver we had not even met yet), we managed to retrieve the lost bag from the taxi driver within hours despite not speaking any Spanish. We felt very well taken care of by the local Yucatecan community.
We stayed a Villa Romantica as parents with our four teenagers aged 13 - 17. It suited our vacation needs perfectly. The kids loved the pool and the outdoor deck was lovely. So many places to lounge!
We took four day trips with Alejandro as our driver. We were so happy to have found him as our guide. We chose Uxmal, Sisal, Chichen Itza and Mayapan as our primary destinations, and Alejandro filled in the extra stops on each trip. He gave us choices on cenotes and restaurants to work into our plans, and they did not disappoint. He knows the entire region really well - highly recommend.

Villa aromatics is an absolutely amazing property. It is impeccably maintained and professionally managed. Colum and Natalie were the perfect Hostess and Host. Magical Stay at Villa Romantica
There was no exaggeration of this lovely property. We considered ourselves very honored to be entrusted with the home. Every room was beautiful and we were torn between going out to explore and experience Merida, or simply lounging near the pool or on the terrace to visit and snack on goodies from the amazing bakery next door.

Gorgeous home in charming Merida
Villa Romantica is an equally stunning and comfortable oasis for travelers to Merida. We stayed in this home with our two daughters (ages 6 and 9) who had a blast swimming in the interior pool, dreaming in their canopy beds and queuing up music from Alexa. We enjoyed evening cocktails while watching the sunset on the lovely roof deck. Clean drinking water is hooked up to a special sink faucet and to the fridge for ice and cold drinking water, so access to bottled water is easy.
Apart from the beautiful home, our stay was made even more special due to the help of gracious hosts, Natalie and Colum, who were always available to answer questions and find/vet resources for trips or services. We especially loved our driver and guide, Alejandro, who took us on day trips to Sisal, Uxmal and Cenotes. The property managers were also very pleasant to interact with. Thank you for a relaxing and culturally-rich experience in a beautiful setting, Natalie and Colum!

Villa Romantica was amazing, really fitting for a special ocassion
Villa Romantica was amazing. The House was really comfortable and it was the perfect place for a very special weekend. My parents and I stayed there during our trip to Merida for my brother's wedding. Not only was the House beautiful and perfectly located (conveniently between the two main activity centers of the city, Paseo Montejo and Plaza Grande), but the attention was out of this world. Natalie and Colum were incredibly attentive helping my family and I find things that we may need for the wedding (transportation, tours, grocery shopping, services recommendations like hairdressers, barbers, etc). It was a really special weekend, and my family and I are very appreciative of Natalie and Colum, their support team, and the great stay we had at Villa Romantica.
The terrace was a great spot for morning reading or afternoon drinks, the pool area and the hammocks were amazing for hanging out, and the bedrooms were comfortable. It was a bit chilly for Merida standards during the time of our visit, so we didnt get to use the pool as much, but it definitely looks like an amazing asset for regular Merida weather.
Highly recommend this house and would definitely stay there if I visit Merida again.

A perfect vacation
First, this property is in a perfect location, one block from the southern end of Paseo de Montejo. The Villa is beautiful and filled with touches that go beyond any Vrbo that we have ever stayed at. The pool that splits the living room from the kitchen is stunning. The roof deck area was the gathering place for morning coffee and evening planning sessions. Always a cool breeze blowing through. But the best part of this rental was by far owner Natalie. We mined her knowledge of the city for dining and touring highlights. Always spot on. She also arranged for us to get our return home Covid test done right at the Villa making the process stress free. Huge plus!! Thank you Natalie, well done!

First Family Vacation in Years
Although we might be compelled to keep this treasure a "secret", that would be wrong because it should be shared and enjoyed by anyone who is able! Everything about our experience was first-rate, including all communication with Natalie and her assistant who answered our questions and assisted with requests (early check-in, daily updates about cultural events in town, Covid testing appointments and taxi reservations) quickly and efficiently. The villa is jaw-dropping beautiful with thoughtful, colorful decorating throughout. For us, having three couples (our two adult, 30-ish daughters and their partners) enjoy complete privacy (with equally lovely bedrooms and bathrooms and oh, the showers!) as well as many different places to gather (both a sunny and shady sitting area on the rooftop and dining table, area near the pool and "front room" on the main floor) was ideal. The kitchen is very well-equipped and we especially appreciated the toaster, blender and grater that other rentals sometimes lack. The binder of information was really helpful for taking full advantage of the villa itself as well as food and excursion recommendations. We were so very grateful to be able to spend our first family time together in 20 months in such a truly magical place. Thank you to Natalie and Colum for making the villa available to others. We genuinely hope to return!

Truly Unforgettable!!!
The house is even bigger and more beautiful than the pictures convey. The pool and garden courtyard is incredibly unique. We cooked, ate, had drinks and relaxed by the pool all in the courtyard. The rooftop patio was also grand and beautiful with lots of plants and flowers. It was hard to leave the house, but when we did, we hound a wonderful city. Merida’ is an amazing! The rich history, colonial buildings and vibrant people make it unforgettable. The hosts made us feel welcome in their home, from the ease of check in, the information given about the house, the welcome letter and even small gift. They also stayed in contact with us through out the visit to offer suggestions on things to do, places to eat and interesting places to see. Thanks Natalie and Colum!!! We look forward to our next visit!

Perfection!
This beautiful casa is absolute perfection! I travel quite often & have never experienced such a special home. From the breathtaking design centered around the indoor pool and surrounded by lush greenery, it just doesn’t get any better. The owner is also the sweetest! First trip to Merida
Villa Romantica was everything it was billed to be - in a great location and a beautiful place to stay. The pictures accurately portray the villa and it was fully stocked with everything we could need. We spent our early evenings on the upstairs terrace talking about our day and drinking our favorite Mexican Chardonnay. Great local restaurants were in walking distance as was the shopping. A wonderful little bakery a few doors down had recently opened and we took advantage of their amazing breakfast pastries and delicious breads. Natalie and Colum were wonderful and responsive hosts, making our first visit to Merida an absolute pleasure in spite of the breaking news related to COVID-19.

Perfect hosts, perfect location. Perfect in all ways.
Natalie and Colum are meticulous, articulate, thoughtful hosts who are well-prepared in all ways, from their manual covering all topics, to their messages about things to do, places to eat. I've been a host for over 10 years myself, and will be rethinking my efforts to be a better host due to my experience with them.
Besides being excellent hosts, their place is expansive, clean, well-appointed, and in an ideal location. My group loved going next door to SOCO for breakfast and the proximity of both Paseo de Montejo to the north, and the zocalo to the south. We couldn't have been more happy with our choice. The rooftop deck is a special place and a wonderful addition to the typical hotel/motel type of accommodation. I highly recommend this place.

A Beautiful Home With First Class Hosts!
Our stay in Merida was wonderful, and our experience at Villa Romantica couldn’t have been any better. We have stayed at many different houses all over the world and Natalie and Colum are some of the best hosts we have encountered to date. Their communication throughout our stay was excellent.
The house is well stocked with everything you could possibly need. I feel it would be rather redundant to go into a lot of detail regarding the house, as there have been many well written reviews about this special house. If we return to Merida I hope to stay here again.

If I could live anywhere in Merida this would be it.
To give context on my review, I am an archaeologist working in the Maya region for almost ten years and have been coming to Merida every year since 2011. Besides being a dream of a home, Villa Romantica is truly situated in one of the best locations of the city. It's a short walk to all of my favorites. Santa Lucia has long been a favorite park of mine with amazing food, music, and dancing. It's lively, but never feels overcrowded.
Speaking of food, right next door to this home is Soco Bakery which blew me away. It is so hard to find bread of this caliber in Merida. The cinnamon rolls are to die for and make sure to make note that fresh bagels are made on Tuesdays ;)
Back to the location. Villa Romantica is also only a few blocks from the Paseo de Montejo and it is a hop skip and a jump away from two of my favorite bars, La Mezcaleria and La Negrita.
It's literally at the heart of it all.
The house is beautifully restored and has thoughtful details throughout. I particularly liked how in the entry way a small portion of the original wall painting was left untouched, so that you can see the state in which the property was before its restoration and the skill and care in which they took to maintain its authentic beauty.... Architecture and art history enthusiasts must stay here.
In terms of comfort, the house has all the amenities and then some so I'll focus on my favorite parts of the house which were the day bed by the pool and the master bathroom's vibes. I loved that bathroom so much I did my morning yoga in there.
If you know Merida, you also know its a very very hot city in the summer. But Villa Romantica is designed in such a way that it stays quite cool and comfortable at all times, which was soooo refreshing after a long day out and about. Although there was AC, we hardly needed to use it.
The owner and property manager are communicative and helpful in such a way that no matter what trouble comes your way you can count on their understanding and support. They were there for me in a jam and trust that they would be there for any of their other guests.
I could go on all day, but I'll stop here because if you aren't convinced already to book your stay here, I'm not sure if anything will make you happy. This is the spot. Can't wait to come back. Thank you!

Wonderful Home in a Great City!
Our group had a wonderful time at Villa Romantica. The home was simply beautiful and everything was in great working order. We enjoyed many relaxing days lounging by the pool as well as on the upstairs terrace. The owner and her team provided us with helpful hints about area restaurants and activities, and also kept us well-informed about when the cleaning and pool maintenance personnel would be arriving. The home is in a great location - - -close to the pretty Parque de Santa Lucia as well as the Paseo de Montejo. Best yet - the delicious Soco Bakery is only 2 doors down. Our group also recommends the following restaurants: Catrin, Oliva, and Kuuk. If you're in town on a Thursday night, snag a reservation at Apoala so you can enjoy the Serenta Santa Lucia. It's a lot of fun. In fact, there's something going on almost every night in Merida.
