This place is absolutely amazing! Beautifully decorated, super comfortable beds, thoughtful extras (heated chair, telescope, books on local history and wildlife, board games...), hot tub, stocked kitchen.....and the view! WOW! The balcony hangs high above Navarro beach with unbelievable ocean views! I had a question upon arrival and Margie's response was immediate! Loved the tips and recommendations she sent beforehand, as well. Our only regret was only staying for one night! I hope to return for longer stay one day!

PARADISE! This was our third visit and Baleen just gets more incredible each time! This place and its host deserve every superlative. Words fail to describe the effect of sitting on the heated loveseat (!) out on the deck looking out at the sunset over jaw dropping views with a glass of wine. But I'll try nonetheless: It's the most beautiful, calming, spotlessly clean, luxurious, pampering and exquisite place and Margie is the most thoughtful, responsive and detail oriented host we've ever encountered. It's obvious she spends a lot of time (and money) making sure Baleen is so well designed, furnished and maintained. It's at once the perfect vacation getaway and also the perfect home you'll never want to leave. My wife and I have traveled extensively and stayed in many places across the globe over the years and Baleen remains our #1 all time incomparable favorite. We'll keep coming back as long as Margie will let us.
The house itself is GORGEOUS, with beautiful artwork and furniture, super comfortable beds, a romantic fireplace and every pampering and modern amenity and detail you could imagine - from the fully equipped kitchen through the heated floors and lush towels in the bathrooms (we ordered those for our home we liked them so much), to the hot tub with the best views in America and down to things like fast WiFi, smart TVs and super helpful explanations and recommend

Everything was perfect from the start. The manicured driveway and front yard leading to the back deck with the best view. The house was tastefully decorated and every need was thought of. Very clean and comfortable. The hot tub was heavenly and the heated stone seat was an unexpected treat.Margie the owner was super and felt like an old friend. We were celebrating our 42nd anniversary and couldn’t have picked a better place. We will be back.

Baleen was perfect. The house was nicer than the pictures implied. The view was ridiculously fantastic, 180 degrees of Pacific coastline and waters. House was extremely well equipped and prepared. Margie (host) was very responsive. Only comment would be that the notes for local attractions, restaurants, etc. should be updated. As an example, much is made of Queenies as a breakfast option in the notes. It appears as if Queenies closed down 2 years ago! Baleen is a place we may very well return to.

Better than our first! I didn’t think it could get any better but it did!
Since we knew the lay of the land, we stopped for supplies and wine along the way from Santa Rosa. It’s true, once you arrive, you don’t want to leave. Everything you could want or need is here for you to enjoy. Close the gate and leave the world behind. We’ve already planned our stay for next year. Yes, it’s that good!

Five long-time friends stayed at Baleen, and for all of us it was love at first sight! We were seeking refuge from the Texas heat, and Albion provided that, but our stay at Baleen was icing on the cake. It is not only beautiful but so very comfortable too, and the view from the deck is breathtaking!
Margie has thought of everything to make it the perfect place to stay, and she was so very easy to work with.
I've used VRBO all over the US, and this has been my favorite! It's perfect for a couples or friends getaway.

This was our second stay at this property and I would just move in if she would let me! The sounds and smell of the ocean, the beautiful redwoods, whale watching from the deck, secluded and very private beach, we just really couldn’t ask for more. Baleen was the perfect spot for us to recharge after a very long, cold, snowy winter. The house was very clean, comfortable and inviting!
The views were absolutely spectacular! We loved the time we spent out on the deck, enjoying the hot tub, the hot chair, and watching the sunset and the stars appear!!

This is the best rental property we've ever stayed in. I almost don't want to explain why it's so amazing, as the word will get out and we'll never manage to find another booking, lol. But I must be honest, which requires me to note all the amazing aspects of Baleen. Nicely renovated home, FULLY stocked kitchen (sharp knives, a first!!!), and the sweetest host in Margie. She called us the day of our check in to make sure my mother's accessibility needs were met. And I don't need to mention the view, the pictures don't do it justice. Bring groceries to cook in the amazing kitchen, as you won't ever want to leave this beautiful property. We already want to come back!!

I've stayed at several properties in Mendocino and this is, by far, my favorite. Very private and secluded, but still close enough to town. The property is exactly as advertised - everything was clean and well maintained. The kitchen is well stocked and appointed. The bathrooms, bedrooms, and living areas all were top notch. The views of Navarro Beach and the ocean really can't be beat. Don't think I will want to stay anywhere else.

We loved our stay, beautiful home, great location, unreal views in every direction. We had deer, rabbits , foxes and lots of birds. The cleaning crew could do a better job,lots of dust and dirt around fridge and couch. We have stayed in a lot of places along the coast, this is the best yet! Great communications with the owner very helpful.***** five stars!

Margie (the owner) has thought of everything to make your stay perfect. Mendocino is close as well as the beautiful botanical gardens in Ft. Bragg. Throw in a few wineries and come back to enjoy this fabulous home. Highly recommend!

Total Bliss
The photos cannot do justice to this magical home. We spent 10 glorious days here and hardly left.
Baleen is so well furnished with top of the range furnishings - just loved that powered Lazy Boy recliner and couldn't get enough of the outdoor heated Helios loveseat. Spent hours just sitting there and watching the hypnotic waves below. Even saw a momma sea lion teaching her baby how to fish!
And Margie, the host, is there for you in an instant if you have any questions. Her recommendation for fresh fish from the Princess gals in Noyo Harbor was spot on - the best fish we have ever eaten (we got Sablefish and King Salmon).

A Magical Getaway
We stayed at Baleen over New Years weekend, and the experience surpassed all expectations. The house soars on a cliff over the ocean, granting its visitors stunning ocean views from nearly every angle of the house. At night there was nothing better than relaxing in the hot tub under a sky full of stars (and the Milky Way)! Our 10-year-old found the heated loveseat and spent hours contemplating the seascape and reading from her perch. The beds were amazingly comfy, and the house is furnished with everything you need for a relaxing, restorative getaway. The whales were abundant the weekend we were there, so be sure to keep an eye out for them in the water! We will most definitely return and cannot wait to do so.

A Slice of Heaven
Margie is wonderful to work with. Her guide she sends is very helpful. We found the house with no problem. Our stay was aahhh-mazing; enhanced by the comfy king beds and really nice linens, and a view that takes your breath away. The majority of our time was spent either walking along the beach below the house or sitting on the porch (the heated love seat is incredible!!) watching the waves. We could not have asked for a more lovely place to stay!

The most relaxing 4 days I’ve ever had! Baleen will steal your heart and soul and you will never be the same. Breathtaking views and a heart filled home with everything you need for a relaxing escape from the world. Stop off on your journey to pick up gourmet supplies and let your stress melt away. Million Dollar View
We have stayed at Baleen twice and will probably return many more times. The property is always pristine and the amenities are the best. We had a private chef for one of our dinners and it was amazing! We stay in VRBOs all over the world and this is one of our favorites. It’s just so hard to leave.

Anniversary getaway
This is a beautiful property and if the sun came out, the pictures of the breathtaking views would be match the online photos. The home is spectacular! Beautifully decorated and comfortable. With two master suites, two couples can easily have their own beautiful space and privacy! Perfect place to celebrate our anniversary as well as our close friends. Our hostess was very helpful before our arrival and checked in during our stay to make sure we were well taken care of. We will come back!

Three day Holiday!
The picture of the ocean was what sold me on this property, and the reality of the ocean did not disappoint! The views from the deck are spectacular! The property has many amenities (heated chair, porch swing, ceiling to floor windows) to allow for further enjoyment of the ocean breezes. We were two couples and the double master bedroom design allowed for privacy and equal enjoyment of the ocean views. The kitchen was well equipped so our group decided to dine at home. Restaurants were full up or closed so I suggest early reservations if you want to dine out. The host was very responsive to my questions and her handout provided all information on amenities en route to the property and nearby.

Unbelievable view and so much more
The view is amazing - comfortable deck furniture, a heated loveseat and hot tub all allow for taking in the breathtaking view. We even watched a whale feed back and forth in the cove directly below. Beyond the view, the house is clean, well decorated with attention to detail throughout. Three spacious bathrooms, a well stocked kitchen, and bedrooms with amazing views as well. The beds are enormous and comfortable. This home was a relaxing retreat and a perfect spot in our CA adventure. A short drive to multiple beaches and Mendocino made for a great location.

Beautiful Home!
We had a wonderful time at this home. Beautiful views and lots of space. This home is definitely not kid friendly but we managed. The owner let us know in advance about the cliff and there is a fence. I had a 2 year old with me and I just never let her go outside without an adult in arms reach. There were a few things that needed maintenance but the owner also let us know in advance. The only other issue we had was the downstairs TV wouldn't run Amazon Prime. It just kept loading but the TV downstairs is very old so that may have been the problem. The upstairs bedroom also had a strange odor. I would still highly recommend this home. Sitting in the hot tub with that beautiful ocean view was my favorite.
