Great location with a clear view of the ocean and close enough to hear the surf. The place had everything we needed and the beds were comfortable. Appreciated the AC and ceiling fans. Only small complaint was the driveway, though I don’t know what could be done. Scraped the bottom of my Prius every time. Janine and Chuck were very responsive to our only problem. Would definitely recommend it and would stay again.

Surfrider 2 was a very comfortable and convenient location for our family during our long weekend in SD. We loved being able to walk to the water.

Ck in was easy! The only negative, but we knew ahead of time, was the stairs to second floor. Two family members are 80 & 76 so it was a little challenging. We requested 2 items be corrected and they were immediately taken care of. We’d stay here again.

The condo unit was in good location and views of the ocean were lovely. The beds were very comfortable and the unit was tidy and well appointed. Nice to have our own parking spot too.
The only complaint was the noise and thumping from guests staying in the unit above and the spiral staircase behind the building.... we weren't expecting that.

Met up with my best girlfriends and we had an amazing weekend. Great location, had coffee on the balcony every morning and wine with the sunset each evening. Couldn’t ask for anything better.

We loved our weeks stay at Janine and Chuck’s property. The location is perfect- just 1/2 block from the beach and we loved how quiet the street is. The condo was very clean, beds super comfortable and well stocked with everything we might need including tons of beach chairs, umbrellas and beach toys. They were both very responsive and kind. We can’t wait to stay again! Thank you for sharing your property with us!

The property was perfect for our La Jolla family vacation. It was a short walk to the beach with plenty of towels, umbrellas and boogy boards for all. It was also conveniently located to the various areas of La Jolla for dining and shopping. I would definitely recommend this place for those visiting the area.

Wonderful location - easy walk to the beach. The property had a well stocked kitchen with all the necessities to prepare meals. The beds were comfortable and the beach accessories were a great convenience.

There was a keurig (but very few pods provided so bring your own if you want to use it) and a coffee maker. It’s one street back from the beach but you can see the sea from the couch and also from the balcony. Not even a minutes walk to the beach. Windansea beach is lovely and fairly private. Worth it…
Location was great, house was clean, property was as advertised.
Feedback:
1.Driveway was really steep and made it so I could not park my car in the driveway/garage with scraping the bottom of my car.
2 house was very clearly however the cleaning crew does not clean the grill. I went to use the grill and it had food caked on that had been there for awhile preventing the use of the grill.
Outside of that, the place is fantastic!! I would definitely rent it again

Great beach getaway for our family with teens
This condo was great! It's one street over from Windansea Beach, and on the 2nd floor with a view of the ocean. We ate every meal on the deck because of the view. It's a nice, quiet neighborhood about 5 minute drive from the La Jolla shopping streets. There is a bagel shop walking distance from the condo so we'd grab bagels for breakfast on our way out. There is also a local grocery market close by. Our 14 year old is an intermediate surfer so Windansea was a bit above his level, but we drove to several beaches in the area to surf. We drove north to Moonlight Beach in Encinitas so we could see all the other beach towns along the way. The condo itself is perfect for two adults and two kids as the 2nd bedroom has two separate beds. We had plenty of space and the kitchen was well stocked with cooking supplies. It was nice to have a garage to store the surfboards when we weren't there. I would definitely recommend staying here. La Jolla is a great area, and our teen surfer wanted to stay in the condo longer. Both our teens loved being able to just walk over to the beach whenever they wanted. The owners were super easy to communicate with so that was all seamless as well. Thanks for the great beach getaway!

Stunning view and property to match
The property was perfect for our family of 4. Close and easy beach access and short walks to eat and shop. The condo had everything we needed and even some extra touches for a great stay.
Janine was kind enough to give us a late checkout and was so easy to work with. Definitely on our list to return.

Great Location
This is a great condo in an ideal location. We walked down to Windnsea Beach most days, either sitting on the beach or watching the sunset. It was a central location to the best that La Jolla has to offer. Janine responded to requests quickly and gave us a couple of great recommendations. We had a great week here.

Location, location, location!
Fantastic rental in ideal location! The owners are very responsive and easy to work with, and they have outfitted the rental thoughtfully. Super comfy and homey. The very best feature though is the proximity to WindanSea. You can look out and see the ocean from the balcony and living area, and you are exactly one block from the beach. Every night we would simply pause whatever each of us was doing at the time and walk out together to catch the beautiful sunset. Thank you Janine and Chuck!

Great location just yards from the ocean
The apartment is situated only a short block away from the Pacific but is in a very quiet street. The centre of La Jolla is a short drive away and there are restaurants and shops within walking distance. The apartment is well furnished and the owners were very helpful in meeting our requests.

Great condo, close to beach!
This was a great property and we had a wonderful time during our stay there. It's very close to the beach and we loved walking down and sitting on the rocks and watching the surfers. Also, it was a great central location because we wanted to hit several beaches...La Jolla, Torrey Pines, Coronado, and Sunset Cliffs.
This condo itself was very nice and had everything we needed for a family of five.Loved that it had 2 full size beds in one of the bedrooms.
Only issues we had were the area itself was pretty congested and we would have loved to have had one more chair in the living room. We just brought in a chair from the patio, though, and it worked. Other than this, everything was great!!

Wonderful! Great location near beach paired with amazing, well equipped condo.
From the moment we arrived we loved the Surfrider 2. From the sounds of waves breaking on the shore welcoming us to the condo, the deck offering a view of the sea and the great accommodations, our stay was wonderfully relaxing and tranquil. Would definitely stay here again!

Great base to enjoy the beach and La Jolla
My family of 5 (2 adults, 3 teens) stayed here for part of our spring break. The proximity to the beach was excellent, as well as to downtown La Jolla. Having two bathrooms and bedrooms gave us a bit more space and privacy, especially having older kids. The kitchen was well-equipped and there were plenty of beach chairs/equipment available. On-site laundry (shared with the other 2 units) was a nice bonus too.
Some reviewers mentioned noise from vacationers in the building's other two units. To be honest, we did hear the family staying below us, but not enough to be a problem. No one stayed in the unit above us, so I can't speak to that. The access to the top unit, though, is a staircase that is literally right outside of the bedroom's sliding glass door. If someone were above us, I'd feel like I'd have little privacy in my bedroom and certainly wouldn't feel comfortable having that sliding door open. The bathroom window is also in direct line-sight of the staircase, so again, I wouldn't want that window open for lack of privacy.
The only other issue I see is the lack of hooks/hanging space for wet swimsuits and towels. Being that most people would use the beach, it'd be nice to have a designated spot to shake out the sand and dry the swim gear.
Overall, I do recommend staying at this home. The location was perfect and we had all the basics we needed for a restful stay. Keep in mind that you will be sharing the building with other vacationers so you will not have complete privacy if that's what you're searching for.

Absolute Favorite .. Perfect family vacation
We've stayed in many VRBO properties but this was one of our absolute favorites. From our first interactions with Janine to the four nights we spent in Surfrider A, this was a phenomenal experience. The keyless lock system is awesome. Every Airbnb should do this. The property had everything we needed and more. Thoughtful touches were found throughout. We felt at home as soon as we walked in. The property is beautiful, well-maintained, and perfect for a family vacation to La Jolla. The beds are incredibly comfortable. Little things like beach chairs, beach towels, convenient laundry, and basic kitchen items elevated the quality of our stay. The location is ideal. We've traveled to La Jolla before— now we've discovered the perfect spot to stay. Thank you, Janine, for making our stay so wonderful. We'll be back for sure!

We stayed at Surfrider 2 for a family Christmas vacation. A terrific area of La Jolla.
We loved the Surfrider 2 Good separation of space. The kitchen is modern and has all you need for a beach vacation. Thoughtful things like beach towels and chairs. Steps to Wind and Sea beach. Could not have asked for a better spot. Thank you Janine and Chuck!!

You have to take the good with the bad
Cute apartment. Great view. Super close to ocean. But there is studio on top and in order to get there, the renters have to walk up metal stairs past the master bedroom. They basically see right in. Not only that but it’s so loud. So if you’re asleep you are instantly woken. While we were there, two different couples stayed there, coming and going very late at night and very early in the morning. And to make matters worse you can hear every move they make. Walking, toilets flushing, chairs moving, it’s really bad. Kind of wrecked our vacation.

Great Location
This condo exceeded all expectations. The beds were very comfortable, the place was beautifully appointed and the owners very welcoming. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because the small condo above unit b was also rented out and it seems there is very little padding between the floors so every footstep, shower and toilet flushing was heard which was tough to take at 6 in the morning.
