Our group of six women friends getaway for a few nights every summer. This was an incredible place to relax, so very peaceful, and comfortable.

We were very impressed with the amenities and spaciousness of the property. There are lots of little nooks and seating areas to discover. My party was very comfortable here. Highly recommend.

We had a very nice stay at Barry's place. It was very clean and we had everything that we needed. We enjoyed staying in his property and looking forward to revisit another time.

Barry met us when we arrived to show us around. The house is was well equipped to handle our family of 5 adults and 3 children. Kitchen is very large and well stocked. Beds were all comfortable. We loved all the upgrades to the home. There are wood burning stoves or fire pits inside and out and an outside rock fireplace by the spa. This is a very special home with to much to write in this review. Highly recommend this home for rent as a retreat or family time. Absolutely lovely.

We love this place and have stayed here 4 times now. The house is clean, well-lit and comfortable, and is located on a spacious and lovely property. The kids love the private pool and hot tub! Though the house is very private, it is also conveniently located close to nearby towns, including Sonora and Columbia. Barry is the perfect host!

Our daughter and her family live 15 minutes away from this casual resort property, and last year we decided to do something different by staying in a new place for a three-day. Hotels are fine, but we wanted something special and memorable - and we found it.
We looked forward all year to repeating the experience and this time we had even more fun. Everything about The Gem suits us perfectly. It's spacious and tasteful without pretension. Everything is spotlessly clean and well-appointed. The swimming pool and spa were the highlightt for our 4 & 7 year old granddaughters. Making meals together in the spacious kitchen and then sharing those meals at the dining table came a close second.
For us,a big bonus was the proximity to my daughter and son-in-law's home. We could spend all day together, yet they could go home to sleep in their own beds. The perfect combination. But anyone looking for room to host a larger group will be pleased with the accomodations.
We hope to repeat this experience many times.

Our family had a terrific stay over the 4th of July. The property was terrific, Barry was extremely responsive and the neighboring town of Columbia has a great 4th parade/celebration.

The home and property are just as advertised and perfect for a large group gathering, from a spacious interior that offers smaller intimate areas to mingle in, and then an exterior to roam, settle, appreciate and just enjoy alone or together.

This property is amazing and an idyllic retreat in the heart of the Sonora foothills. It truly is a Pearl hidden among the rocks and an oasis of water and wonder.
With 3 couples and some day guests, the property was spacious and accommodating. The various gardens and lounging stations, the bedrooms and linens, and the well equipped kitchen were very thoughtful and nice.

We just returned to this property for the third time. We are a family of four with a 10 and 14 year old. The property is wonderful - nothing to complain about, and if there was, we know that Barry (who is great) would quickly take care of it. The hot tub is probably the best we’ve ever enjoyed, anywhere. We look forward to coming back!

Barry's house is absolutely gorgeous. We can't wait to come back in the summer to enjoy the pool! The pool is not gated but Barry did a great job warning us about that.

This home is fantastic and has so much to enjoy that you don’t even have to leave the house. Very relaxing and inviting home. Barry the owner was very nice and enjoyable to talk to. Would recommend to anyone. You will not be disappointed.

This place is wonderful. Quiet, private. The house is large and comfortable, the kitchen has every appliance you might need plus staples if you’ve forgotten anything. The beds, couches, chairs are comfortable and there are multiple sitting areas inside and out. The pool and hot tub are fantastic, so much fun and so refreshing. We could hardly stand to leave for any amount of time. Barry, the owner, is gracious and welcoming and full of information. He was there if we needed him but very inconspicuous. We loved this place and hope to return sometime.

I was amazed at the rock work which Barry himself has created. I only wished I had more time to talk with him. Amazing human being. One of my favorite authors books being in the guest room, made it feel homey.
The property was clean and bright. The kitchen was great for the entire family to be in there cooking, eating, and gathering in comfortably.
The pool is magical as is the hot tub. The weather was over 100 degrees during our stay and the pool was where we spent a majority of our time.
Absolutely everything you could need as far as shopping with a seven minute drive.
Our stay was exceptional and I look forward to another stay with Barry and his beautiful wife.

From the moment we walked in until the moment we left, we felt at home and cared for. The kitchen was stocked with every conceivable appliance and utensils, the furniture was excellent, with many intimate area set up for small groups. Barry, the owner, was very responsive and always looking to improve our stay. We could not be happier with this overall experience.

This was our third time staying here! The lovely home, pool and yard make for a wonderful relaxing getaway and our kids can’t get enough of swimming and jumping off the bridge over the pool. Brand new A/C had no trouble keeping us cool in the hot weather. Barry is the perfect host! Can’t wait to return again soon.

Convenient and private but near essential services!
We rented this home for a family reunion, which included people from three generations. The area is beautiful and the neighborhood (Lambert Lake Estates) is off the beaten path but 2-5 minutes from any service you would ever need. Neighbors are far away enough you’d hardly know they’re there.
The property was perfect for our purposes. Pool and spa were clean and enjoyed by all. Our group went to Columbia State Park (10 minutes), Pinecrest Lake (40 minutes/rented a party boat) and Yosemite (1 hr.+). Very convenient!
We plan to return next year for our annual reunion. Host was accommodating and friendly. Beds were comfortable and house was clean and had everything we needed. No complaints.

Probably the best experience we have had renting a home. The home was better than pictured. It is beautiful inside and out. My kids spent lots of time enjoying the amazing pool. The house was extremely clean and well cared for. We love to cook and the kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed. The best part was that Barry was the nicest host who made sure we all had a great vacation. He even asked my 9 year old son if there was anything he could do to make our stay better. My son of course said no because everything was great. We have rented many homes and have high standards. I can honestly recommend this home to anyone based on our great experience.

Excellent get-away with my family
The hot tub was my favorite. We went swimming in the pool even though it was a bit chilly. We relaxed with cooking on the bbq and enjoyed the time together.

Beautiful grounds
We had an amazing girls weekend. Barry was a great host, and helped us out a few times with a couple things which was so appreciated. The grounds are beautiful and the pool was amazing, the house is very clean and of all the vrbo’s I’ve stayed in, I’ve never stayed in one that is so stocked, and had every appliance you can imagine, it was fantastic! Can’t wait to come back again and stay longer!
