I cannot recommend Casa Alma highly enough. The location is perfect in the beautiful and tranquil Phase 1 of Playacar. There is plenty of space and plenty of bathrooms! The daily housekeeping service is a huge plus for this property.
The host, David is as good as hosts get. He personally met us at the property on check-in. He even supplied the house with enough food and drink to get us by for the first day, and provided fresh flower arrangements!

A group of 7 people stayed in the House in March 2023, everyone liked the house, the house was very clean and well kept, the cleaning lady came each morning and cleaned the house. It was a block or so from the beach and within walking distance to 10th or 5th avenue. We would definitely stay here again. You won’t be disappointed

A Fantastic Find!
Casa Alma was the perfect property for our three (!) families vacationing together. It was as though each family had their own hotel suite, yet we were all able to be and dine together in the living and dining areas on the main level. The kids loved the pool, which was best midday and for evening swims with the lights on. The teenagers loved laying out in the sun on the rooftop spaces, and the adults loved having their morning coffee on the balconies off each of the master bedrooms (there are two coffee pots in the house--necessities for our families!). Everyone benefitted from each room having its own bathroom--a luxury we don't even have at home! But it was certainly a welcome benefit with so many people together under one roof.
The location was ideal for us--away from the party beaches closer to town, yet still walkable to tons of shopping and dining options. I also took an inexpensive cab ride to Walmart and grabbed tons of groceries and beach toys that we were able to use up during the week. The beach access was fantastic! We were grateful to have access to the Sunset Fishermen Beach Resort, but we all loved just being able to head down less than two blocks to a great sandy beach spot and jump into the water! The little kids were in love with the sand--it was the softest and finest sand they've ever played with, and had the consistency of kinetic sand when wet. We got boogie boards for the bigger kids and adults and the waves were just right for that.
David was an incredible host. Highly communicative and caring. I had asked several questions prior to our arrival (such as transportation logistics) and he had wonderful suggestions ready for us to use. Bruno was also available to help us on-site, and he was quick to respond whenever we had a question or issue. But the (additional) unexpected luxury was having Sara come every day of our stay to tidy up the entire house and make every bed. WOW, she worked so very hard each day and truly made our stay feel like we were at a hotel! We also took advantage of Candy coming to cook with us one evening, also at David's recommendation, and that was such a fun experience and one of the most memorable meals of our trip.
We felt so fortunate to find David's Casa Alma for our trip to Playa del Carmen and would not hesitate to come back! We highly recommend Casa Alma to anyone looking for a touch of hotel convenience, yet with more space (and bathrooms!).

Is short we got more than what we asked for, the house was immaculate, the rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, etc. was all 5 stars. David was an excellent host always very attentive giving us tips on nice restaurants, shopping places, etc. The club that we had access because of the house was outstanding Fisherman Sunset Place. We had an awesome time and plan to come back again and again.

Fantastic stay!!!
Our overall experience at Casa Alma was simply amazing! From the moment I booked the property to the very end, the property owner was incredible at communicating with us and keeping us informed of every small detail, i.e., great places to go, booking the chef, even where to go for our Covid tests prior to travel back home! The house was beautiful and immaculate, and Sara did a great job with housekeeping on a daily basis. The proximity to 5th avenue, the beach and all the shops and attractions within walking distance was so convenient (and saved us a lot of taxi rides)! The neighborhood is so beautiful and peaceful, it's like a slice of heaven in the middle of all the action. I can go on and on. I will close by saying this will definitely be where we stay in our next family trip to Playa. No doubt. I highly recommend Casa Alma!

Great Home, Close to the Beach, Close to Town
Home is fabulous. Has 5 bedrooms, all with bathrooms attached. Ceilings are tall, feels very spacious. Its well stocked with dishes, and cooking implements. Small pool in the back is cool temp-wise, but fine mid day. Lovely roof veranda, though we didn't spend much time there.
The home owner lives nearby & stops by daily. A broken A/C unit was fixed right away. We got in late and the home owner likes to meet you for check-in, but fortunately a lock box is on the premises. The house keeper comes daily to clean & is great. She dId our laundry without being asked. We'd stay again.

You have an expansive, well-kept property with amazing ocean views just a short walk from the beach. Everyone in our group aged 23-80 had an outstanding trip. The benefit of having own bedrooms and bathrooms meant we could be as together as we wanted with the option of privacy.
Sara did an wonderful job keeping the house clean and tidy for our party of 8. Your ownership at Fisherman’s Village is a real blessing. Thank you for the invitation to visit there, where we loved the pool and the beach, plus the convenience of the bar/restaurant and all the facilities.
Words cannot quite express the tranquility that Playacar Phase 1 evokes. I feel at peace here almost immediately despite a pretty high-stress job in NYC. We are also very interested in investing here, and you were very generous with your time and knowledge.

Wonderfull Place
This stunning, modern but comfortable house easily housed our family of 11. We arrived to a fridge stocked by David and a fresh made meal cooked and served by Candy. The location was perfect with easy access to the beach club and 5th avenue. David was a gracious and helpful host. Daily housekeeping was provided by Sarah, and we did have Candy cook for us 2 nights. The food was fantastic. We would certainly book with David again.

Amazing hospitality
Casa Alma is a dream, and was perfect for my family of seven adults. Everything was clean, and the house exceeded our expectations.
The pool was perfect during the times we relaxed in the house and it was hot. The roof top was perfect for the late evening and at night time.
For our first and one of our last dinners Candy came to the house and cooked for us. She is lovely, and her cooking and services were phenomenal. Thanks for the suggestion David!
Additionally, Sarah came by the house every morning to ensure everything remained clean and organized- she is a sweetheart.

Maravillosa estancia en Playa del Carmen
We spent a wonderful vacation in casa Alma. These modern house is in very good condition it has a lot of nice details and amenities to make your stay enjoyable and feel at home.
David´s great disposition and friendliness made our stay even more pleasant. Also worth mentioning, the wonderful Yucatecan dishes that Candy cooked for us during our stay, and Sara´s quiet work keeping the house neat and tidy every day.

Fantastic Getaway at Casa Alma!
We had the good fortune to call Casa Alma our home for 5 glorious nights in January. The home itself is even better in real life than on the page. My group of 8 ladies had more than enough room to hang out, take in the sweeping panoramas of the Caribbean Sea and rest up for our next adventures. Having daily housekeeping was a nice touch, as we didn't have to worry about day-to-day clean up making this an extra luxurious and relaxing holiday. In terms of location, the home is PERFECT. It's a short walk to the beach and Fifth Ave and the area is truly awesome. If safety is a concern, you needn't worry - the Playacar community and the surrounding area are well kept, monitored and patrolled. All told, it was one of the best ladies trips yet - and Casa Alma was the perfect base for catching up and going out. Communication with David was amazing and he truly went the extra mile to make us feel at home - from the welcome package, to the airport transfers, and recommendations of local spots - he took it to the next level. All told, I wouldn't hesitate to come back and I would recommend Casa Alma over any other Playacar property, based on the amenities and level of hospitality and service from David and his team. Thanks so much for sharing your home with us and hope to be back someday soon :) PS - travel times from PDC to Mayan ruins (Chichen, Ek Balam, Tulum, etc) are shorter than from the hotel zone in Cancun. We loved our excursions with Make Your Own Tours and guide Gabriel, as well as Fishing with Ivan (best snorkeling of our lives). Tankah Pueblo was also amazing! Based on my previous Cancun experience and our time in here in PDC, head to PDC and stay at Casa Alma - you will be glad you did :)

Perfect!! Nothing to improve upon.
Casa Alma ended up being the perfect place to stay in Plays Del Carmen for our family reunion of 10. There was more than enough room in this gorgeous house. The kitchen was perfect for those that like to cook. The location of Playacar 1 was perfect in that it was quiet and surrounded by other gorgeous homes and next to the much prettier beaches that are south of town. The hustle and bustle of town was a short 5 minute walk through a jungle with ruins. David, the owner himself, is really what made this rental stand out from other great rentals that I've had. I've never checked into a house and had it stocked with 4 hot roasted chickens, a refrigerator full of beer, wine and champagne, fruits, vegetables ,rice, beans, and more. He had our rides to and from the airport arranged and was always available thru texting for any other questions. Large fresh flower bouquets were all through out the house. We couldn't have been happier.

Wonderful Week!
This house is amazing and is perfect for families or large groups! You are within steps of the beach and walking distance to town. David is a great host, providing some yummy food supplies to get you going. The top deck is fun place to sit at night, watching the cruise ships and ferries coming and going. We also had a full moon. We highly recommend this house.

Everything we hoped for and then some.
Our party of 8 were pleasantly surprised with everything about Casa Alma. David and Sara attended to our every need.
The home is beautiful and equipped with everything you need or want. David found us a wonderful chef on short notice. She prepared a tuna and 2 mahi mahi that we had caught. It was the best meal that we had the whole trip. We also enjoyed Rilandos for some italian food and steaks.
Our transportation to and from the airport and welcome food package was the cherry on top. It was extremely nice to have that in the package. We used taxis quite a bit and they worked great for us on longer trips. We got a van for 8 and sometimes a car for just a few. We consider our overall experience at Casa Alma was worth every penny. We plan on returning.

Extraordinary!!
Everything about our stay was incredible. The highlights:
1. David, the owner, has a gift for hospitality. He arranges transportation from the airport, stocks the kitchen with your favorite wine, beer, fruit and lunch items and is attentive to any concern or need you might have during your stay.
2. The home is large and is situated in a neighborhood that was built around Mayan ruins. Yes, you can visit the ruins on your walks around the area and on your way into town. The home is a lovely 10 minute walk into the heart of Playa and 3 minutes from the ocean beach. It is nestled in a quiet, safe collection of other homes.
3. Playa itself has grown up considerably in the last few years. You can shop old world Mexican street vendors or you can go to "western" chain stores that have emerged in the area. The same is true for restaurants. Classic older Mexican restaurants still exist as well as newer up and coming places featuring French cuisine, sushi, steak or fine Italian. There is something for everyone.
4. Our trip is best summed up by my 16 yr. old son who, when we returned to the states said, "Dad, I'm a little scared after that trip. That trip was so perfect I'm afraid I'll never have another vacation like that again". I told him not to worry. We'd be back at the same place next year trying to have an even more perfect vacation.

Excellent Playa del Carmen vacation rental
This is a beautiful and comfortable home in a gated community just a couple of blocks off the beach (not really blocks, very short walk) with great second, third floor and rooftop views of the Caribbean. We had more than ample room for seven guests (teens and above) and every amenity we needed was provided. It's a great place to relax and unwind. David, the owner, was amazing with his support, including providing fresh fruit and other food and drinks, arranging airport shuttles, taxi providers, restaurant and activity recommendations, coordination of a private chef for a wonderful dinner at home, and more. It is situated just outside of Playa such that it is a quick walk to almost anything you need in town and near taxis or rental car offices if you want to go on tours nearby--yet away from the busy town. We felt very safe both at Casa Alma and walking in the neighborhood, on the beach and in town. The ride from Cancun Int'l Airport was less than an hour after arriving on a Friday afternoon and evening and only 45 minutes going back each time on each of three trips leaving at different times on three different week days. It is also less than an hour drive to Tulum and very close (e.g., 15 minutes) to activities such as Rio Secreto (cave) and several cenotes. We loved the open living room/kitchen and patio and the teens loved the second floor "TV den". Daily housekeeping by Sara was great to have and very unobtrusive. Wonderful vacation and great rental with a superb owner/host attentive to all details.

Great House and Location!
Our group of seven stayed at Casa Alma over Spring Break and had a wonderful time! There was plenty of space, beautiful decor, fresh flowers in the bathrooms, and constant contact from David and his stepson, Eddie. Quick walk to Fifth Street and the beach. We have stayed in three other homes in Playacar Phase One and this was by far the best! We will be back!

Lovely Villa and Fabulous Location
Thank you David for being right on top of any question or concern. The property was perfect for our family of nine. The kitchen is a well equipped with every item needed to cook meals at home. The beds are comfortable and Villa is cleaned daily. Playa was a five minute walk and the beach is one block away. One note to tennis players the court is in rough shape but the view from the area is gorgeous. We would book the property again.

Gorgeous villa, amazing views, beach quick walk
We'd like to thank David for his hospitality during our recent weeks stay at Casa Alma.
The villa is fully equipped with more of anything you could even think of.
The location to both 5th Avenue and the beach is perfect.
Our Morning walks were so doable,as the entrance to the expansive beach is only a short minute from the house. Walk either direction for as long as you desire.
The spacious rooftop deck with its multiple seating was our favourite spot to hang out.
With incredible views of the water, the cruise and ferry ships, as well as Cozumel.
Enjoying the soft breezes, listening to the waves, birds, and sopping up the sunshine, while enjoying our glasses of wine, reading and using the Internet up there, to still rescue dogs in the USA made this perfect.
The kitchen is fully loaded for cooking. An ice maker in the fridge for our drinks. Wonderful European pop up cabinets and self closing drawers. Sara is the maid who does a fantastic job.
The maintained pool is just off the main area to enjoy, and easy to keep an eye on children.
David's recommendations of restaurants and activities was extremely helpful.
A worry free accommodation,with all the amenities of home, wrapped up in turquoise blue waters
And crystal non hot white sand on the beach.
We did rent a car online from the villa, at Dollar rental. We walked a very short distance to pick it up.Just $100 with third party liability and airport drop off included for three days. We had our own CDW printout from home. A car is not needed at this home, but for sight seeing it's great. Parking at the villa.

Holiday at Casa Alma
I stayed with my family of 10 at Casa Alma in the summer of 2017 there were three generations of family aged between 70 and seven.
We all had a wonderful time the facilities in the house were beyond what we had expected. the bathrooms were to a great standard with wonderful showers. The beds were very comfortable and I had some of the best night sleep in a long time. There is individual air-conditioning in each area of the house which allows for a more environmentally friendly approach to keeping the house cool. The air-conditioning also works extremely quickly and so you do not need to turn it on until about half an hour before you want to go to bed which I was very impressed with.
The kitchen is very well equipped with all that you would need to make your meals. The table and seating area is also plentiful and allows for everyone to be together at the same time.
On arrival we had a welcome pack which had all that we needed to make our first meals before going to explore playa And the local supermarkets which are great. You can try well-known American supermarkets or shop where the local shop and great get some great deals and try some new foods.
Sara attends the house six days a week to clean and does an amazing job.
There is a dishwasher washing machine and tumble dryer. Which makes holidaying with children much easier.
There is a pool at the house which is the same depth from one end to the other and is great for games and a quick dip, however the beach is only about a three minute walk from the house at the most.
There is a bedroom on the ground floor which is Good for those unable to do the stairs there are then three further bedrooms on the middle floor plus an extra living area which our children enjoyed hanging out in in the evenings. there is a third floor with a self-contained apartment and a beautiful roof terrace with hammocks and comfortable beds to sleep on you’re able to see the sea from there and the island of Cozumel.
I would thoroughly recommend this property to stay at. we ran into no problems well staying there however I feel if there were any problems that the owner would deal with them swiftly and professionally

Casa Alma - Incredible Caribbean Getaway!
After months of searching for the perfect vacation house for both our immediate and extended family (12 in total), we selected David Bowyer’s Casa Alma (https://youtu.be/k404XoESBGI) in Playa del Carmen. It was ideally located near the beach, less than a two minute walk away, where white sand and crystal blue water awaits and a 15-minute walk takes you to a variety of delicious restaurants, coffee/pastry shops, as well as boutiques and big box stores.
The house was everything we expected and more: modern, clean, spacious and cozy. We swam in the private pool right off the open kitchen and living room, enjoyed the cool breeze while relaxing in the hammocks, and watched the spectacular sunrises from the fourth floor upper deck. Sara, the housekeeper, kept everything clean and fresh.
David was an exceptional host! From arranging transportation to/from the airport, to making sure all of our “special requests” were fulfilled, he took care of everything and made Casa Alma feel like home. It was like having our very own concierge service. We lacked nothing and our stay was a refreshing escape from the craziness of life and cold weather of our home state.

Location, Location, Location & the Beach!
My wife and I along with our two boys have visited Playa del Carmen and the Riveria Maya several times over the past decade or so. We love the area obviously. We've gone the all-inclusive route, rented villas, and stayed in hotels. Our trip this past summer we discovered Casa Alma located in a lovely, gated community walking distance to the heart of the city.
The accommodates are comfortable and spacious. The kitchen is well appointed and with the daily maid service meant the place was spotless. There was plenty of room for our family and the family of four we traveled with. The owner left great instructions about the property and a list of local restaurants off the beaten path to get the real local flavor. My kids still rave about Bovino's!
As great as the property is the best feature has to be the location. Walk out the front door turn the corner and you're greeted by white sands and the Caribbean. It is also super convenient to fantastic beaches up and down the coast for exploring and snorkeling. Akumal, Xpu-Ha, Xel-Ha, Porto Morelos - the list goes on. And after a day out you come back to comfort and seclusion.
It was a super vacation and we'll be looking to visit Casa Alma again soon.

Great holiday! Casa Alma delivers!
We loved Casa Alma for it’s ultra modern and spacious design and beautiful furnishings. The photos don’t do it justice! It’s really luxurious and it’s location is outstanding with the beach close by and Playa town just a short walk away, passing by Mayan ruins.
The scenery off our balcony and the upper terraces was amazing, with panoramic views of the emerald Caribbean; seemingly at touching distance. Early morning we would regularly brew up coffee, make our way to the beach and watch the crimson sunrise. Pelicans would be following the waterline with frigate birds gliding by at a higher level.
The advert promised “pampering” and we certainly felt that way with Sara, the housekeeper’s care and attention. And David was very helpful with recommendations for local restaurants etc.
We highly recommend Casa Alma!
