After a long day of travel my friends and I were very excited to arrive at the treetop house. The property is absolutely beautiful and while it was late when we arrived, we were all blown away by the house itself. Upon closer inspection the house had noticeably been neglected. Spiders and dead bugs were abundant in the beds at the lowest level, while spider webs were visible on the ceilings in every room. There was a nest of baby spiders in the lowest bathroom, which really stinks because that shower was cool. Another issue we ran into were the ants. Ants were everywhere. Even before bringing any food into the house we noticed ants in some of the beds. By the end of our first full day here there were ants everywhere you looked. There is also nothing sealing the doors closed, so one night while we were playing games in the upstairs room a tarantula hawk somehow made its way into our space. We were able to handle all of these things ourselves as 6 friends in our early 20s, but I feel these things are important for people to know before booking the space. Don’t get me wrong, we still had a fantastic time at the treetop house. Check in was simple, same with check out. Sabine gave very clear instructions on how to get to the property. There were plenty of rooms to accommodate our group, despite not entering the lowest level after the bug issues. It is a great location in monteverde, and it feels pretty secluded. I would recommend to a friend, but it would come wIt’s a warning!

Monteverde is a magical place, and the treehouse offers a great location, charm, and amazing host for new and returning visitors. Sabine offered insightful advice and help with sketching out and booking an itinerary and was attentive in all communication. The various levels of the treehouse have private access points/keys so you can easily allow groups to spread out and get some space for individual privacy and downtime while easily being able to reconnect as a whole group. Completely luscious surroundings and beauty. It's a very special property in a place the whole world should strive to visit.

The property is whimsical and charming, but a lot of stairs and different areas are not connected to each other. Fairly close to town and some shops and coffee houses. Great views of the forest. Loved hearing the birds in the morning. The kitchenette was bare bones and not easy to cook in. We ended up going out for more meals than we planned on.

Our 8 person stay in the Treetop House was great! It was a little difficult to find, in the rain, but we managed. If you're visiting, the driveway to the property is next to a golden round globe. We drove past it a couple of times!
The house itself is super interesting. Lots of fun spaces, funky decor, and a maze of interconnected rooms. You really are in the trees, and the experience is well worth it. I have a super sensitive nose, so some of the earthy smells of the woods inside the home threw me off, but the host was super responsive, listened to my concerns and quickly attempted to address them. The kids, ages 11-19, loved that they had their own space, in some cases their own floor, and didn't want to leave.
All in all, I recommend staying here if you're into eclectic, natural spaces.

Everything about this property is unique, the way it has been built on the side of a jungle cliff, the design of every room is amazing and there is loads of space. A memorable part of our holiday. The owner was very helpful with advice on excursions and it close to the major attractions

My family with 5 boys spent a couple nights at the Treetop House and had a great time. The place is huge. Very artsy and unique. Much more of a rustic experience, though we personally were fine with it, just be prepared!

Such an awesome and unique place to stay. Everything is comfortable and cozy while the outdoor areas encourage you to be outside and enjoy the nature. Perfect for anyone wanting the full Monteverde experience. Super friendly and accommodating owner.

This was a fun place to stay. I loved sitting on the porch in the mornings with my coffee watching all the birds. My only suggestion, I would have loved a sofa/lounge area where we could all comfortably hang out

We loved this very funky house! Plenty of bedrooms for all, and several spaces to gather and watch wildlife. We saw toucans, parrots, monkeys, and even a pair of golden-browed chlorophonia. Within walking distance of several restaurants and Curi-Cancha Reserve. Sabine is communicative and very helpful.

Very unique place traveled with a bunch of teenagers and they loved exploring this property. Good communication. A lot of creaks in the flooring so pretty noise with all the kids running around about still a fun quick stay

Pros- the host is very helpful with booking activities in town for my family. Lots of beds so great place for several people. House is near cute local cafes and art shops and walking distance to a beautiful waterfall.
Cons- the floors creak so much. You can hear every footstep from the floor above. There was no hot water so I hope you enjoy cold water showers with very little water pressure. The bottom level shower head is over the toilet. Whoever is using the bathroom after you has to basically dry the entire bathroom and toilet because there is no shower curtain. The beds are very hard. Bring your own pillows and bath towels.

Spent Christmas break with my daughters and their children. The house was perfect for providing privacy for our party of 8 that included 4 teenagers who appreciated having some personal space. Sabine was a most wonderful host - helping plan our activities, securing reservations and recommending knowledgeable guides. Plenty of nearby restaurants, shops and vistas to explore .

One of the most unique homes we've ever stayed in. Great experience. A little spooky for the kids at first because of the wind, but that was a part of what made for such a great experience. Location and host were amazing as well! Incredibly responsive and helpful.

Anduin's review is spot on for both pluses and minuses. It is a great place to spend a couple days but I think the quirks would quickly turn to annoyances if we were staying longer than that.

This house is a bit unusual but in a good location with lots of space. Be prepared for some steep outdoor staircases though! The rooms were nice with enough space for everyone to spread out. The views of the trees and the visiting birds were great.
The house was closer to "civilization" than I expected. On the up side this meant there were about 4 restaurants, two hiking areas / reserves, and a shopping area within walking distance. CASEM is in the shopping area and has great souvenirs. There is a small market next to it with basics like milk but also flour and sugar. Not many American brands though. There is also a nice selection of milk, cheese, and bread at the Cheese Factory. However being so close to all these things meant we had more road noise than I expected. Not bad, but I really didn't expect any. It was mostly noticeable in the morni g and late afternoon. There was also noise between floors (mostly walking on the floorboards) but once everyone was settled for the night it was quiet.
We had a little problem with hot water and toilets but not too significant. Kitchen was better than expected, although small. Knives were dull but plenty of dishes, pots and pans, etc.
The stairs are not for the faint of heart, especially in rain and/or dark. No one fell or anything but everyone was nervous especially if the were carrying something.
Overall we really enjoyed our time there and would recommend it.

Unique stay in the jungle
We really enjoyed our stay at the tree top House. It felt like sleeping in the jungle. The location is great and there is a lot of space for everyone. we were a family of 7 adults but there would have been enough space for 10 more:). The only challenge was the strong winds at night that kept my kids awake a little but to me, this is part of the charm.

Treehouse adventure for our families
We had a wonderful time staying at Sabine’s treehouse with our 2 families. There was plenty of space for all of us, and Sabine was wonderful in planning all of our activities for us. She scheduled guided tours with amazing guides, gave us great recommendations, and answered every question properly. She even went so far as to order birthday cakes with hand-written messages (one regular and she found a gluten free cake as well!) for us as we had two birthdays to celebrate. It took a lot of the stress of planning away from the trip and made it a wonderful experience.

Great Place for Families
Amazing home! 2 families, 4 adults, 5 kids 7-17. We put one family upstairs, one family downstairs, and all the kids on the middle floor. Everything we needed and more! Sabine was attentive to all texts. Thank you Sabine!

Cute Treehouse
The overall property was nice and in a very unique location - it was nice to have so many options for beds as well. There is limited bathrooms and not a lot of hot water so that was a little frustrating for the group. For some floors you do have to go to other levels to use bathroom, and one of the stairs had a damaged step which cut my foot. There also isn't a microwave which was fine but just an FYI to people when shopping for food.
We did see monkeys, lemurs and other cool animals from our treehouse which was very fun! Located within 10 minutes of longest zipline in latin america

Fun unique house set in the clouds
Sabine's house was a beautifully set unique home with 5 levels and multiple bedrooms. Loved the view from the small porch area on the third levels where wonderful birds visited every morning. Sabine was easy to communicate with and any supplies we needed were readily available. The property was set outside of Monteverde and private. The towns square was easily accessible with a short 2 minute drive. During our time there we went horseback riding at her stables and zipling at the original canopy tour both a must in our opinion.. our 4 children ages 6,9,11 &13 loved the many different places to explore on the property.
Loved our time at Sabine's treetop house.

Highlight of our trip
Hard to capture how cool this house is with just a few photos. The beds are very comfortable, the house is clean, the location is great, and the host was very diligent. 10/10

Truly Tree Top
Sabine was great, she set up tours, arranged transportation and was readily available. If you won't have your own car I suggest getting groceries before you check in. The house is set up into mini apartments with a lot of stairs which could be difficult for some. The decor fits with environment. We had a great time in Monteverde, it is a beautiful area.

Fantasy Tree House
If you ever dreamed of living in a tree house, then this is the place. This 4-level home really brings that feeling alive. It's got lots of fun architectural details that will make the kid in you smile - and kids of all ages will love it. There's a ton of beds and enough bathrooms. The 4 floor lay out gives everyone their own space. Although we had a minor issue with the propane stove on the first night, we managed to cook for 7 people in the top floor kitchen. This space would not be good for people with mobility issues, but for anyone else it will be a very memorable and enjoyable vacation stay.

We stayed here in early January with extended family and 2 small children. The check in was easy, others mentioned no hot water, it is just tricky to get it right, but once we figured it out we had no issues. Location- a little tricky to find, but super close to monteverde Kitchen -quite small, we rented the entire space, but had enough equipment to make several meals, the table only sat 4 people.Layout of house - lowest level- 2 beds and bathroom , 2nd floor - 2 beds and a bathroom, level 3- 3 rooms, 1- has 1 bed that is very odd shape so good for 1 person, the other 2 have 2 beds, but there is no bathroom so you either have to go downstairs to an outside bathroom (toilet only) or upstairs. Top floor has the kitchen and 2 beds that have curtains between them. The top floor is very noisy, and the wind scared our children. The floors are pretty noisy so when people walk you can hear it and also the sounds travel. Parking is easy for 3 carsInternet was slow but workable

Great stay in a charming, unique home
Our group of 12 had a wonderful stay at Sabine’s spacious home. Sabine, our host, meet us at check in and gave us a thorough overview of the house and things to do nearby. She provided restaurant recommendations when needed and returned any messages immediately. Thanks to you and your daughter for the fantastic stay!

Fantastic house, great location, perfect base for biological reserve
The house has a range of rooms allowing everyone in our group of 9 to find their own space. Kids enjoyed chilling out in the hammocks and the querky, arty feel to the house was lovely. They provide indoor shoes (lovely touch) as floors/ steps are slippery. Bus to the reserve and main town stops at bottom of the drive so the location is spot on for the biological reserve or the children’s eternal forest. Only negatives- Very windy during our stay so noisy in top room due to typical CR roofing. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Hope to visit again soon

Quirky house - lots of fun
We recently stayed at Treetop House in Monteverde, and we loved it. This is a very quirky house - loads of character which suited us perfectly. A word to anyone who is not fully able-bodied - there are loads of stairs in the house, so be aware.
Sabine is a wonderful host, and she helped us get situated in the house when we arrived. She also arranged several tours for us with amazing guides / venues.
Sabine told us that you have to play / fiddle with the taps to get hot water, and we fiddled a lot but we were only ever able to get hot water from one of the 3 showers in the property (top floor). The other two would give a blast of hot that quickly turned cold.
Not a big deal, but there were a few minor things that folks renting this place should know... There isn't any shampoo / conditioner / etc - not a problem, but since most properties have it, you just need to be aware. There aren't any extra towels in the property, but Sabine will swap out for fresh ones if you ask. There are two kitchens in the property - top and bottom floor. Pick one - the cooktop doesn't seem to work in the bottom level, so go for the top. That's also where the dish soap was when we were there. You really don't want to be going back and forth with the soap.
Overall, we would rent this property again. Sabine was very helpful, and we loved the quirkiness of this house. We'd give it 5 stars if there was reliable hot water for showers and a few more amenities (working cooktop, extra towels, shampoo, more dish soap...)

eclectic house fits perfectly with the location, plenty of space and the kids loved it!
Wonderful stay. Sabine was a gracious and helpful host. There was plenty of space and our children loved exploring all the different levels and rooms. This was by far their top choice! We also scheduled a horseback ride with Sabine's stables and this was a highlight of our trip!

4 families traveling together stayed here. The 6 kids loved exploring the house, playing hide and seek, and hanging out on the deck with swings and a hammock.

Sabine was helpful and friendly.
We were 4 adults and 7 children (ages 4 to 12) and we all loved the tree top house. There were plenty places to sleep and spread out. The kitchen was functional, but small. There is a second kitchen on the lowest level, but we cooked and consumed our meals together, so that wasn't practical for us.The location is wonderful and very private. We observed parakeets, coatis and even a spider monkey around the house. We can only recommend hiring a guide for the cloud forest tours, they are all extremely knowledgeable. Thank you, Sabine, we had a wonderful time in your house and Monteverde.

Rustic treetop house
Our 2 families enjoyed our short two day stay at the Treetop House with its many unique rooms, stairs and rustic feel. It was much colder and windier than we anticipated and we were not prepared, however there were plenty of blankets to keep us warm and we made the best out of our time ziplining and enjoying the town.

Abolutely Amazing
The TreeTop House was the highlight of our Costa Rican Vacation! The house used to be an art gallery, and the intricate detail within the home was astonishing. Each of the rooms in this quaint multilevel building has the lookout to the treetops. (Tree are part of the house). We were quite a large group (my two kids, husband, and sister's family) and this house provided us with the perfect mix of private space and common area. Apart from this exquisite character of the house itself, its location is close to restaurants and easy to find. Additionally, the hostess, Sabine, made our stay even more enjoyable. She helped book our tours and transportation and we were picked up at the front door! She was also available to answer any questions we had through out our time in Monteverde. All together a great stay !!!

What a fun home!
My party of nine arrived in the middle of a rainstorm which made us a bit late but Sabine was patiently waiting to greet us. She made us fell welcome with a tour of the house and offers to book any of the adventures we chose. The home itself is one of the most interesting we've ever rented. I was a little worried about the outdoor stairways with the storm but they're all under cover and we kept dry. We used the top level for gathering and games and the rest for sleeping and privacy. The middle level deck was perfect for morning coffee. Definitely quirky, cute, and well located. We had a blast!

The best Monteverde housing for big groups
I recommend the TreeTop House emphatically. We had an unbelievable experience here! Sabine is such a gracious host and we could not have asked for a better location. It's smack dab between the Monteverde Cloud Forest and Monteverde the town, so you can easily get to everything. Sabine made us feel right at home and recommended a lot of restaurants that proved to be some of our favorite meals in Costa Rica. Plus, there's a kitchen in the property so you can save money and cook for yourselves.
Sabine was easy to communicate with leading up to the trip, answering all our questions and helping us plan our arrival. She booked a shuttle for us to get to and from the TreeTop House. Once we arrived, Sabine helped us plan our itinerary and figure out which things to do in Monteverde.
Besides being in a convenient location, it is also in a beautiful location. The TreeTop House is surrounded by trees and there are few places in Costa Rica as magical as sitting on the hammock and enjoying the view on the upper deck.
The house itself has plenty of room for multiple families. It's nice because there are tons of beds for everyone, but it never feels too crowded. You can fit everyone while still enjoying privacy. So if you are coming with big groups or multiple families, this is the place for you.
All in all I would tell just about everyone and anyone to come and enjoy this gorgeous home away from home!

Very unique house
There's nothing like the Treetop House anywhere else. One of our kids compared it to Alice in Wonderland's house - another thought we were living like Curious George. They especially loved loved loved swinging in the hammocks!
It's not the most comfortable place, however. The house could be upgraded very easily by just the addition of better beds (the beds are just thin mattresses on top of bedframes made with 2x4s - there are no boxsprings), mattress pads (there are none), and better linens / blankets. We found dead bugs and body hair on the sheets making me wonder if they're washed after each visitor. Our 7-year-old son was bitten by a scorpion one night that was hiding in the bedsheets. I don't blame the house for this - after all, we were staying in the jungle and these things do happen.
It's also an incredibly noisy house - if anybody upstairs (and there are four floors so there's always someone "upstairs") walks around you can hear absolutely every creak and step.
That being said, there is incredible charm here just because of its uniqueness. Also, Sabine is such a gracious host - she was so helpful booking our adventure tour at Selvatura and a night hike (both highly recommended!). And we loved being able to hear the howler monkeys in the morning.

Magical Ambiance and Setting in the Cloud Forest
We stayed for three nights with 6 young girls and two adult couples and we loved every minute of our experience in the tree top house and Monteverde! The house is completely unique in its architecture and attention to detail. You truly feel like you are living in a tree house with the tops of trees and the valley as your view outside of every window. Our girls (and adults) loved the balconies and outdoor staircases and feeling like you’re part of the environment but with all the amenities of a home with warm water, comfortable beds and a very hospitable ambiance. There are lots of great places to walk to from the house as well, the creamery and Stella’s café were our favorites. I wish we would have had more time to stop in on the restaurants. The whole area has an artistic vibe and the people are so helpful and kind. Sabine was also incredibly helpful in making our stay easy and enjoyable. She booked all of our excursions and gave us great recommendations—highly suggest going on the Selvatura zipline and bridges tour. We also went for a fabulous horseback ride through Sabine’s stables. She paid attention to every detail and even stayed back with my six year old who got spooked and personally gave her a one-on-one lesson to put her back at ease with horses. Everyone loved the experience and enjoyed steering their own horses instead of letting the horses follow each other at a very slow pace like most places in Costa Rica and the United States. Her horses were also very well cared for and well treated. I would highly recommend Sabine’s house and horseback riding for adventurous adults and older children that want an unforgettable an unique experience in CR.
