We had a great time. It was great to have extra space for 2 boats and waverunners. The pool table was cool. We would like to stay again. Pam

Our family enjoyed staying there. My 11 year old loved the fishing and pool table. Loved the fenced in yard for the dogs. It does seem like an older house but with that in mind we were comfortable there. We would stay here again.

Plenty of room inside for 6 adults and pets. The kitchen was more than sufficient for us to make all of our meals. We caught 10 different species of fish right off of the dock. Excellent location for paddleboarding. We enjoyed the mangrove protected lagoon on windy days, and so did 5 different manatees! If you are a fan of planes, as we are, there are plentiful varieties during the day. It felt a little like an EAA fly in. The home is very quiet and we never heard the planes in the morning or evening if inside the home. All in all, we definitely would stay here again.

It was everything we needed. Clean rooms and bathrooms. Comfortable beds, and centrally located.

First of all, we LOVE this house! There are some things I’d handle to make the experience for my tenants better though. First of all, that rug under the dining room table has been there since we first rented this house in 2020. To say it is nasty would be an understatement. Secondly, my husband, my eldest son & his wife & my youngest son and his partner were all fairly pleased with the rooms UNTIL someone had to sleep on one of the twin beds in the spare bedroom. One really can’t even call what they slept on a mattress. You can literally feel the springs just by pushing down on what they are using for a mattress, it was more like they were sleeping on a box spring. For the amount of rent charged for this house, but a new mattress!!! Third, a deep clean once a year needs to happen. The back of the louvered door for one of the bedrooms is disgusting. There are cobwebs on the walls. The spare bedroom with the twin beds was not as dirty as some I have stayed at but was not as clean as the other two bedrooms.
Now for the things that are not as big of a deal in my mind: it rained at least half the time we were there, I usually bring some board games but forgot. A couple of board games or Uno or something would be nice for those days when folks can’t spend their time outside. Also, maybe an air fryer. The kitchen is WELL equipped, however.
The dishwasher does need to be screwed in so be aware of that or it could tumble forward on you, we cook most all our meals.

Well i was reluctant to write this review, but i dont want anyone elses vacation to de ruined. The house is dated but you can tell by the pictures. The selling point was the location on the bay and it does not disappoint. Upon check-in the house had a very dank smell almost like pet urine. After inspection there was no air filter in the ac. Brett was quick to reply and had the filter replaced immediately. Now we have a dog and dog friendly is always good. Unfortunately after 1st day we noticed fleas on the dog and by day 2 she was infested so badly my wife had to bring her home and multiple flea baths. And yes we use frontline so this was a surprise. I trated the carpet, sprayed the house. We notified Brett and he offered a full refund if we left. We had planned this vacation for a year and were unable to relocate so we stayed. My wife was to return for the final 3 days but would not stay at this location so we got a room down the block and asked Brett for a 500$ refund to pay for that room. He agreed and i assumed all was well. We kept the boat at Bretts. Finished the week. After i tried to contact Breet about refund and to this day, 6 months later i have heard nothing. Pretty disappointing.

Freezer was iced over, had to bust it all out before we could use it, had a lot of other visitor's leftovers in it. Outside grill was so nasty no one wanted to use it, plus two empty gas containers. Tub and shower floors in the bathrooms were way to slippery, one of my older friend's fell while showering, lucky he did not hurt his self to bad, just bruises. Entry gates were hard to open / close, could use a little TLC. Floor at the fish cleaning area is also very slick. Loved the outside shower and the larger yard area. We have been coming to the Keys in the Marathon area for 30 plus years and I'm sorry to say this visit was not one of our best.

Perfect fishing experience whether off the dock or docking your boats! Deep water Dock space provided for several boats and a floating dock for kayak launch.
Fish off dock included snapper, shark and even a grouper! Mangrove island across canal homed snook and redfish in rooted shade.
Location was great for Florida Bay and Atlantic waters.
Home location in very convenient to shopping and Very peaceful large lot had plenty of space for truck and trailers.
Excellent view of sunrise for early risers.
We will definitely return!

Great place to stay. Easy to find. plenty of room to park your boat trailer. Easy access to the yard to bring the boat trailer in. Every thing you need. Even has a coffee grinder. so We had fresh ground coffee each morning. Easy access from the gulf side to bring your boat into the included dock.
only issues were the dryer did not work but they showed up to check on it the next day. Needed to order parts .
Something knocked over and dumped our trash 3 nights in a row. So I had to clean up the garbage each morning.
All in all a great place to stay. definelty would stay there again.

The stay on 63rd street was wonderful. The fenced in yard was a super plus. The home was well equipped and super clean. The private dock was a great for fishing with a great fish cleaning station and we saw Manatees swim right up to it. The home is centrally located making it easy to visit all the keys. Five stars for sure!!❤️

Stayed with a few friends to do some fishing. Brought our own boat. The boat dock is useful, and has a nice spot to clean fish. The freezer on the dock was convenient, as was the fresh water hose with sprayer to clean things up. The property itself is a big lot, so it's roomy, you can park your truck, trailer etc no issues. The house is older and basic, but fit our needs.

Private location at end of street so little traffic.Enjoyed seeing the wildlife Manatee, racoon, Iguanas, Pelicans flying by.Interior is roomy. Some minor maintenance items need attention, ootherwise, we enjoyed our stay. We love the Marathon area.

Nice roomy house with plenty of things to do, and close to everything you need.
Manatees by the dozen, (literally!), a lot of iguanas and good area to kayak in.
We LOVED watching the planes, jets and choppers flying into the airport down the road, and at night the air traffic slows down so it doesn't keep you awake.
Exceptional communications with the property manager who is friendly and helpful.
No complaints here. :)

We adored our stay at this home. I’ve been visiting the Keys for 30+ years and this house was absolutely perfect for our family’s vacation this year. It is an adorable home with a traditional Florida Keys vibe. If you know, you know. Will hopefully return sooner rather than later. An absolute gem. 😍

I don’t want y’all to read this because this property is my favorite! Just a wonderful place to stay, Alla is a very responsive property manager if you have need, and a wonderful, well-equipped house!

The property is larger than it appears in photos. Was great for our group of adults & teens. Property manager was quick to respond to questions!

This is the second time we’ve stayed at this house. We like it because of the large fenced yard since we have dogs and the dock is big for the boat. It is in a nice central location in Marathon close to everything

We had a wonderful week in your home. We fished everyday as planned from after breakfast until close to midnight each night!!! Was a fantastic week with beautiful weather! The house could’ve been cleaned much more thoroughly and all the linens really need to be washed the including comforters. The location size and ease made it perfect for us. We’d love to come back again!

Location was good, yard was great for kids and dogs, well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds. The downside to this property was very sparse and uncomfortable seating in living room, no dressers to put your clothes, hot tub was not maintained and water was green when we arrived, smoke alarm went off at 10:30 pm and there was nothing on to set it off (we were afraid it was carbon monoxide setting it off), dog next door was a nuisance. House would have been fine if just staying for a short time, but would not recommend it for a long stay.

House is very clean and yard is huge. The property feels very private. We enjoyed sitting by the water watching the birds and iguanas. We also enjoyed the canoe/kayaks and fished from dock on previous trips. Perfect property for us since we travel with our small dog. Property manager is very responsive. House had everything we needed. We also enjoyed walking to Herbies for their large tap selection. This is our preferred place to stay in Marathon. One small note: This house is very near the airport so there is some noise from take-off/landings. This has not been an issue for us but might be for people with pets that are sensitive to noise.

First let me say, I grew up in Marathon, so I knew we didn’t want some fancy schmancy place, we wanted somewhere we could feel at home, dock the boat and relax, and that is just what we did. My fiance and I traveled with my parents and our 20 yo daughter and her friend! We all had a blast. We took out the canoe & kayak in the lagoon, watched iguanas, sat in the hot tub after a rough day fishing (weather didn’t cooperate that week), fished off the dock, played pool…we did it all. The beds were SUPER comfy, we all kept saying how well we slept. The shower was amazing and I forgot how great the water is down there. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you could imagine and the washer/dryer works excellent. We also brought our golden retriever and he loved playing in the yard and finding coconuts to chew on 🤣. There were two grills, which we didn’t get to use, and a picnic table. The sunsets & sunrises are outstanding from the dock! Neighbors were all very nice! Can’t say enough, it was just what we wanted!

We chose this property because of the large fenced yard for our dogs and the location - on the water gulf side and not too far from the 7 mile bridge to get to the atlantic side. Our dogs loved the yard and we had a great time with the boat and the dock and dock house. The house was bigger than we needed for just my husband and I but the price was right and we were very pleased. Big kitchen and beautiful knotty pine floors.
Would recommend this place!

Dockage great - home fit the bill.
Will try to make this an annual rental (vacation for us)
FYI - Publix prices are not what they are at home buy Sams or Costco supplies before you come to Keys. You will thank me

This was our 2nd stay at Captain Brets eith s family of 4. It's the perfect setup four our outdoorsy kids who like to fish from the dock, kayak, swim, and play pool. Everything you might need is there: kayaks, bicycles, grill.

We stayed here for 7 days (March/April 2021) with 3 adults and 3 kids (ages 12.13, 15). The house is old and looks small on the outside, but the inside is nicely decorated and very well designed for full usage of space. Kitchen is adequately stocked and spacious for 2-3 "cooks in the kitchen" at the same time. Beds are comfortable. Lots of room for all of our stuff (snorkeling and diving gear). The back yard is GREAT: large grassy area (for kids to play paddle ball, volley ball and soccer... and more than enough dock space for our rental boat. There is a hot tub (which we didn't use, so can't comment on it) and pool table (a little slanted, but kids didn't mind). There are fishing poles, kayaks and bikes to use. It's a great set up for guests who want to fish (cleaning station and chest freezer). The kids caught a few fish off the dock and from the boat. The small mangrove that separates the dock from the Gulf helps during windy days. We had 2 manatees visit us by the dock and lots of lizards like to run around the property too! Great Location: Sombrero beach and the Turtle hospital were a 5-8 minute drive from the house. Vaca Cut not too far away to get your boat to the Oceanside. Some very shallow areas along the way, so watch your Depth gauge! We had a couple of issues/questions during our stay and the communication/response from the owner/manager was quick and easy. We would absolutely come back here!** Google maps has you turning to the Oceanside from Hwy 1... it's on the Gulf side.

This place had everything we needed and wanted- a dock to fish off of and park a boat, a place for the kids/dog to run, plenty of parking, ample kitchen supplies, a hot tub, every cable channel you could dream of having, and walkability to outdoor food/drinks. The house is well maintained and has plenty of old Florida Keys charm. We had an AC issue and the property manager got the issue resolved within hours. We all loved watching the manatees, iguanas, and different fish/wildlife in the yard. Look forward to booking again!

Smooth Seamless stay. No need for any further communication from owner/ manager. Everything was explained in advance e mail. Place was clean and had everything we needed in the kitchen. The layout of the property was amazing for our boat at the dock and dogs to run and play inside the fenced yard. Deep water canal with easy access to the gulf and Atlantic a short ride. We had our own resident Manatee ( named her Trina ) she came every evening to get a drink from the hose as I was rinsing the boat. Really great trip and a great house. Definitely want to stay there again.

We really enjoyed how HUGE the yard is at this property, plus the privacy was amazing. The dock was perfect, and so was the hot tub. Thank you so much!

We spent two weeks at this home and have nothing to complain about.
Excellent home, very clean, great air conditioning. Everything was perfect.
Excellent location for boating. A huge protected dock and out into open water in only two minutes.
Huge yard to hold two trailers, 5 vehicles and allow two dogs to run.
Will return next year.

The property is centrally located and easy to be self sufficient without a car. The home was very clean and had everything needed for a week of fishing. Dock and tiki hut was very nice and convenient, cleaning station and freezer was a great bonus. We plan on staying here again. Owner/Manager was very responsive and seamless from booking to refund of deposit.

Our family loved this location for our holiday. The yard being fenced in was awesome for our dogs & fun for everyone to enjoy. The house was very spacious so everyone could spread out & there was enough room to gather for meals and games. The appliances in the kitchen were new & easy to use & enjoy. We loved playing pool & used the kayaks too. The dock was huge for the boat we rented & we appreciated the freezer out there’s for our bait & ice. We caught tons of fish & the cleaning station was very convenient. We would love to come again

We were a party of 8 adults and 3 boats on vacation for Lobster mini season. We were assured that there was more than enough dock space to accommodate our boats and plenty of parking for vehicles. We were pleasantly surprised at how large the yard was and loved that the property was at the of the street which meant we had a short trip to the Gulf. We arrived Saturday, launched boats, did our grocery shopping, had dinner at Herbie's and proceeded to turn in for the night. Sometime in the middle of night the AC stopped cooling so we woke up Sunday morning to 84 degrees. We called the owner who immediately directed us on what company to call. It took 3 trips on Sunday, 3 trips on Monday and finally got fixed on Tuesday. We were not without air the entire time but more an intermittent problem and definitely inconvenient. The AC company worked diligently to solve the issue and the owner was very responsive to us. Absolutely loved the property, tiki bar, and house. We never felt crowded as the property was so large that we were able to spread out. Our party of 8 would definitely recommend this property and would not hesitate to rent again.

We really enjoyed our stay at this house. It was perfect for 6 people and one dog! The location was great, close to everything we like to do down there. Herbies, just down the street was a really nice little find. Great food and the best Key Lime Pie in Marathon! Oh, and we saw 6 or 7 Manatees while kayaking not far from the dock! Thanks, Donna.

Enjoyed our stay on 63rd. Everything was in good working order, very clean and private. Kitchen was well equipped. We had 5 guys with a bed for everyone and still plenty of room. Spent some evenings grilling and playing pool. Kayaks and bicycles were nice to ride because we were blown out from diving for a few days.
Excellent concrete protected dock with bait freezer and cleaning table. A bit of a ride if your going to the reef, but well worth it.
Great place to stay.

We had a wonderful stay here! Donna was excellent in responding to questions quickly. The guys caught lots of snapper (which we ate)
& parrot fish (which we were told not to eat). We saw manatees there. Wonderful location...short drive to Sombrero Beach, restaurants, & bars. I don't think you could go wrong with any place to eat or drink in that area!
