With only a few exceptions, we have been coming to Jekyll for 40 years. Our kids, and grandkids regard it as an integral part of the year, as do we. Island Retreat meets the needs of all 8 of us. We range from 7-80. The house is basically one-story, a mobility issue for us. We occupy the independent master, the kids have the other 2 masters, and the grandkids have the other two bedrooms, by gender, and share a bathroom. There are four common spaces, DR, where we do games, puzzles, and such. LR where we can all watch movies, do gaming, hold family meetings. Kitchen, with a square table perfect for 8, and for our artist to work on her watercolors. We eat a large percentage of our meals here, and the kitchen is well supplied We bring a flip waffle maker, and large stock pot, but these are preferential items as the house does have them. There is plenty of work space, and we have had family birthday, Father’s Day and anniversary celebrations, plus tea parties in the space. There is a screened-in back porch, with a ceiling fan, that’s perfect for reading, screen time, conversations and just relaxing. It’s very near the beach, comes with a pool pass, and is on a bike path. Perfect for us. The house has been clean, when we arrive, and well maintained. When problems have occurred, Jekyll Realty has taken care of them promptly. There is plenty of storage, and 2 refrigerators, multiple coffee makers, and blenders. We do keep bagged ice, as the icemaker can’t, quite keep up with us. The clothes cabinet in the separate master, is about 4’ tall, not quite long enough for a tunic, but there is plenty of drawer space. The king beds are quite high, we manage, but it could be a problem for some. We really like Island Retreat, and have our reservations for next year.

This is our 5th year renting same house. It is large and accommodates all of us well. There are things like mattresses and rugs in bathrooms that are in dire need of replacement. We make that recommendation yearly. Maybe before next year! The outside shower is nice as well as hose at entry door. Needs deep clean for sure.

We stayed at Island Retreat with our daughters and loved the house. Our friends joined us for a few days and they appreciated having a master suite. My in-laws stayed in the attached suite and raved about it. The beds are comfortable and there is room for everyone to gather in the living room. The decor is perfect!! We ate a few dinners in and loved having plenty of seating for everyone. The beach access is only 2 houses away. My only suggestion is that the house needs a really good deep clean. The white cabinets, doors and light switches need attention. The glass doors in the bathrooms need some bleach and a good scrub. However, it certainly wasn’t bad enough to ruin anything. I would definitely rent this home again.

Nice property for a large family or group

Our extended family enjoyed everything about the home. It suited our needs completely. Our check-in process could have been better. We were prompted to provide our arrival time several days in advance, which we provided and met in accordance with the published guidelines. However, we still had to wait over an hour for final cleaning and disinfecting. There was also an unusual and somewhat unpleasant odor in the house upon initial entry. We were told it was the disinfectant that had just been used and it should disipate within an hour or so, but it lingered until the next day. If I am required to provide and arrive within a window of time, shouldn't I expect that the property will be ready in that window??? Otherwise, this was a great trip.

The kitchen was very well equipped. The only problems we saw was that the bunk room had no air conditioning or ceiling fan but there were several electric fans available and the exhaust fan did not work in one of the bathrooms. Otherwise everything was great and we would definitely recommend this house to others.

Jekyll Island is charming, and my friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our reunion there. Island Retreat was a perfect accommodation for us--conveniently located and providing more than enough amenities. Jekyll Realty was extremely professional and responded to all questions and needs promptly and courteously.

The house had plenty of room for our group of 9 (one infant in a pack-n-play) and could have accommodated two more in the bedrooms. The location was great with a beach walkover at the end of the cul-de-sac and driftwood beach a short drive or bike ride away. We would book this house again!

My in-laws loved their private suite that is attached to the house. It is much larger than the pictures show. It was helpful to have 3 full bathrooms in the house with 4 adults and 2 college kids trying to get ready at the same time. We made a few dinners for our group of 8 and the kitchen had everything we needed as well as enough seating for everyone to be in the same room. The decor was exactly what you'd want to see and the furniture was very comfortable. The only negative was that the house was in need of a deep clean. All the white furniture, cabinets, doors, and floor molding needed attention as did the inside of the kitchen drawers and cabinets. However, in no way was it a deal breaker. I would absolutely rent this home again!!

We also enjoyed playing a few of the games they had on hand. The main house and suite can both use a DEEP cleaning. There was a lot of dust on lamps, blinds, light fixtures, etc, especially at the separate suite. Replacing the bathroom rugs would also go a long way. One had stains on them. Overall, this is a great find, and we would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a great location with plenty of room to spread out. We hope to be back!

We had a ball with my our family! We had 8 adults, 2 teenagers and 3 kids. Beds were very comfortable. Plenty of room for us. All appliances are up to date. The only problem was the room with bunk beds never really cooled down but there was a portable fan that kept the kids comfy. The house was very well taken care of and clean. The beach is close. Nice boardwalk down to the beach. Bring your golf cart or bikes and cruise the island. We had plenty of room to park 5 cars. We will be using this place again. I don’t have a problem highly recommending this place to friends. Thank you for allowing us to stay.

Island Retreat is so very well stocked with all you need. Just bring your clothes and food. Only one block from beach. Would definitely stay there again.

We enjoyed Island Paradise a lot. The location was an easy walk to the beach even with 2 wagons (1 filled with beach items, and the other filled with 3 kids). The house had plenty of space and the decorations were really beachy and cute. We would definitely rent this again. Our only complaint for the whole trip was the tide. High tide fell mostly in the middle of the day so it made the beach plans a little difficult because when tide is high there is no beach to sit on, the water comes right to the rocks. So just be mindful of the tide schedule when you come out!

We were looking for a place last minute to get together with my brothers and their families, and this worked out perfectly. A quick walk to the beach, and much quieter than the hustle and bustle around the hotels. A beach access walkway was being put in on the street towards the end of the visit - which would have been that much more convenient for when we come back. Overall, the house is a great layout where we could feel together, but also have our own space. There was a beautiful backyard and screened in porch that we spent a TON of time in. The amenities provided were just what is needed - there was nothing we found ourselves needing to cook any meals, and even had books/games/bocce set/etc. for fun at the beach. The one time we did need to contact the realty company/owner (minor clog in the sink due to sand), they were extremely friendly, reliable, and took care of the issue immediately.

The kitchen was very well stocked with utensils, some spices, coffee pots (many!). The living room was comfortable and sofas seemed new. Back patio was wonderful, it allowed us to have another living room. We brought throw blankets so we could sit out there on a brisk evening and it was wonderful to have the extra seating four our large party. The 3 tables for eating space were wonderful. The patio with bike rack was used and appreciated. There were outdoor chair cushions and sand toys in a box outside as well. The owner had books you could borrow and a lot of games. There was even a vacuum which was used halfway through the week to tidy up. The side apartment was also a great retreat. It had another sitting area with two chairs and a love seat. The extra full fridge was wonderful to have for our large group and again another coffee pot was appreciated. Towels and linens were supplied and the washer and dryer were inside the home and it was great to have them to use. There was even some laundry soap. We were here in Dec, and the description said there was a pool pass at the Days Inn. I knew they had an outdoor pool so we did not bring our suits. I did NOT know it was open and heated and there was a hot tube so bring a swim suit in the winter. The house was 80% clean. Corners needed more attention, blinds were dusty, tub could have used a good scrubbing and toilets had rings in them. Also, one bathroom did not have any toilet paper. ( Be sure and bring paper supplies and soap for dishwasher and laundry soap, but there was some at the home. ) The only big downside to this home was the poor quality beds. They were hard and not comfortable. Anytime my husband moved or rolled over I was jostled and felt every movement he made. The bunk bed squeaked with any movement and the pillows on all the twin beds were about 1 inch thick.
