We arrived much earlier than the check-in time, but the Hotel was able to get us into our Hut rental right away. Much appreciated since we wanted to watch the Seattle Seahawks game that was starting soon. They were even willing to stream the game on the bar's television, but we were able to get it going in our house. The staff were ALL so sweet and accommodating. It couldn't have gone better, really. And the property is so lovely. We did a local hike one day, went to the nearby Krauma baths (the onsite pools were closed for renovations), AND we did the can't-miss Into the Glacier tour. Plus, the restaurant's food! Mamma mia. What a magnificent stay!

The hiking map, although adorably drawn, was hard to follow and maybe a bit misleading. Our hike to locate the falls had us walking 11 miles that day, and no accessible falls. Not sure what we did wrong? Maybe have better marked trail maps? Or trail markers? We did manage to visit the Hraunfossar falls on our way out of town. Gorgeous!

A lovely lovely place. We had a larger modern home and a small cottage. Each great in their own ways. The larger home had what my family called the « best beds of the trip ». Don’t let the boxy exterior deter you. The inside is chat matters😁. We were pleasantly surprised to find the house had a separate bathhouse with steam room!

What odd numbering for the houses here! Our house was number 35, but none of the numbers are on signs outside of the homes on the gravel road. You just have to find the house using a map and guess which house is yours. Our cottage was number 2. So cute, but there were three number 2 cottages, so when we arrived late, and we were tired, it was such a hassle to find the houses. Signage please. And of course, no public pool even though the website said it would be done « at the beginning of summer ». It wasn’t. You also need to know that if you come here there is one small market. Shop BEFORE you get to the highlands. As this was our first trip, it would have been nice to know that if we wanted to cook in that beautiful kitchen, we should have bought groceries back in Reykjavik or down by the coast.

Fantastic location and lots of activities to do locally

It's remote which is incredible but it would have been good to know it was 1 hr 30 min round trip to get groceries as we would have stopped on the way.
