The food was ok but not exceptional. A bit too much chilli!

Clean room and the staff were good.

Poor ventilation with the current warm weather requires the room to have some air flow. The only air flow for the room was with a french door that was chained allowing only a 3 inch gap.

The room was a little dated but clean and comfortable. The food was good.

Understaffed - it was Fathers Day, so the restaurant was very busy and service very slow.

This was advertised as dog friendly hotel in search!!!!! , only to travel there after six hours in a hot car to find out that they don’t allow dogs in rooms !!!!!!, only in bar and grounds, after a lot of negotiation we were able to stay as I explained that the dog would be in a crate all the time. I was less than pleased, I would suggest that you remove this place from “ Dog friendly search’ when clearly dogs are not catered for.

Lovely size Room, clean, spacious and quiet location overlooking the river. Had a meal here too, was lovely. Staff really friendly and helpful, especially the hotel receptionist. Thankyou x

loaction and history was fine - building old obviously needs some tlc on decor in alot of places

staff where fine but made a mistake by telling us we did not need to book for meal in evening and then when we as residents for 4 days could not get a table as fully booked - when they told us dont bother booking ! - plus no resolution found just told us cant get you in ! ...when we know they had space in a few areas - and tables but not set - but they were busy to be honest We had evening meal on 2 nights and the chips were cold twice [ we did get one portion replaced ] -used miller aand carter few miles up road to resolve evening meal problem - we told them we were at a busy food trade show working and needed an evening meal each night booked the first two no problem - then when we asked about Monday Tuesday answer - you dont have to book as we are not that busy ...then when we were told no sorry fully booked - communication not good ...will not be using any chef and brewer in my future travels when booking rooms or meals

The service and breakfast were excellent.

The hotel is very tired and could do with a make over.

Beautiful old building, full of character. The staff were excellent and really looked after us. Special thanks to Sariya our waitress, who looked after us and made our meal special. Also a huge thanks to the Chef, Scotty and his team. The food was excellent, really tasty with balanced flavors.

The property could do with a bit of TLC, and the rooms updating.

The very few staff serving in the bar were very friendly even with queues. The restaurant staff were also really lovely even though they seemed rushed off there feet. The surroundings are lovely.

The room had one tiny window, that hardly opened, nowhere near as nice as last time we stayed, when we had floor to ceiling windows, wasn't given an option for rooms, so thought all rooms were the same. It was still dark even with all the lights on. We had to be let in by staff (when we could find someone) every time we went to our room as the electronic keys weren't working. The place is looking very shabby.

besides the room, the food was great !

breakfast was poor, stayed here in September 21 and not as good this time. Evening meal was fab and everything else fine.

2 tiny rashers of streaky smoked bacon that hadn't been in the pan long. Fried egg had no yolk £7.99 not good value.
