property was clean and tidy, rooms were well kept with a good selection of tea and coffee. The food in the restaurant was excellent and was equalled by the fabulous staff - friendly and helpful.

The water pressure let the amazing room down. The stunning feature bath took an hour to fill and the shower was just a trickle of water.

Excellent value for money. Comfortable and nicely decorated - both room and public areas (bar and restaurant). Outstanding food both at dinner and breakfast at a very reasonable price. Staff were delightful! Very convenient location - just off A1 and close to Durham City. restaurant has parking - something which is in short supply in durham

The Staff were friendly and helpful and cheerful. The food was outstanding with a very good selection. The room was clean and tidy and a comfortable bed. We will definitely return.

Quiet, easy access to Durham, nice room, safe parking.

The restaurant food and service was exceptional, and I mean exceptional, and the breakfast item choices varied and very very good in a lovely serene well presented conservatory area which was beautifully presented and a nice temperature despite it being cold outside. Highly recommend this place.

That I don't live there and those people aren't my house staff.

The room was a small single with an unconventional layout which made it feel slightly claustrophobic. It was also stuffy to sleep in but the presence of a wasp/mason bee nest in the eaves discouraged leaving the window open. On the plus side the furnishings were in good order and clean, and the bed was comfy so I slept reasonably well.

Bar and restaurant was rather scruffy; seats/carpets were stained and dirty.
