Had a very cosy room with a lovely en-suite. Very quiet location, yet short walk to the city centre and train station. Spent a very comfortable week here and would certainly book again. Thank you!

Clean, the breakfast was excellent. The staff is lovely, really nice, helpful. Good parking and not far from city or bus stop.

Only yards from the bus stop, 5 mins ride or 15 mins walk into town. Easy to find and a spacious, airy and comfortable room with all the facilities we needed. The staff member in reception was so pleasant and welcoming with lots of handy info as well - thank you!

Although spacious, Room needed some tlc. However problem with leaky tap was fixed straight away by friendly staff. Wardrobe and windows mouldy. Potential to be first rate if paid more attention to small details. Bathroom towel small and frayed for example and flush button on toilet missing. Bathroom could have been cleaner. External main door lock very difficult to open. Also told on arrival we needed to pay £10 per day to park on premises. Not advised prior.

Clean, friendly staff, beautiful breakfast and a lovely sized room. The staff were very accommodating.

Didn’t like the camera at the reception, would like to have seen that listed on the information site, or maybe I missed it. Personal preference, I would have benefited and preferred a small desk and 2 chair rather than 3 chairs. The room needed a blast of fresh air, stale past smells rising.,Old staining on the chair covers.Personal preference for myself decent size cup/ mug for a decent cup of tea on arrival. small cups, waste of boiling the kettle and teabag.

We have stayed 3 times and have loved each time. Lovely room comfortable and clean room, friendly staff, the breakfast was delicious and we love how close to the centre we are.

Cosy bed

Slightly cold overnight after the heating was turned off

we really enjoyed the stay, the bed was super comfy, the bath was relaxing (deffo take a bath bomb!!) and really close to town but not in the centre. we booked our stay as a last minute holiday. we rang the day before NYE and the staff were helpful in response to our questions about the rooms. we noticed after we booked a lot of bad reviews. so we thought we would compare our stay to other reviews. we noticed someone complain about the car park been small? At least there is a car park , most places are £20/30 to park , this place is Lucky to have a free carpark! we left and re parked 3 times so it’s not difficult to get a space. someone else wrote, 30 minute walk to town? maybe they took a de tour round the racecorse as it took us 15 minutes. and oh no, loads of stairs? request a lower floor, it’s only 20 steps the jet spa bath did work, and it was amazing we used it at least 4 times the rooms were clean, maybe a little dated (bathroom light was slightly broken) but the price reflects this, there’s not many places you’d get for this price with a 4 poster bed, parking, breakfast and a spa bath. AND FRIENDLY service.

the light in the bathroom mirror didn’t have a switch or was on the wall right so may as well be removed.

This is our 3rd stay at Holmwood House. Excellent breakfast plenty of options. The town centre is in walking distance from the accommodation .

The rooms are a little tired but nice and clean.

Very clean. ideally situated for walking into the city centre. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast choice was big and the quality was good.

Not a good place for anyone with mobility issues, lots of stairs.
