Extremely nice & warm reception with 2 very helpful & strong lady staff to handle our luggages at drive-in. Appreciated this assistance.
Checkin is assisted by a helpful and patient English speaking staff. The beer and ice cream were served upon checkin due to part of Golden week promotion. There is also a jazz performance at hotel lobby.
The room is nice and cozy.
Onsen lockers & sinks were kept clean and well supplied with necessary creams & lotions. Panoramic view in an outdoor onsen has a silky bath and a couple of indoor bath. It also offered panoramic view of the city lights at night. Public onsen baths were kept clean and very spacious. It also has a fenced up outdoor onsen with greenery and a soothing sight. We prefer the public bath to panoramic one as we are often out during the day and only use it after Kaiseki dinner. There is nothing much to see after dark.
A nice and cozy corner for dinner. The Kaiseki dinner was superb with shinshu pork & clams hot pot. Teppanyaki beef slices were juicy & tender. 2nd night dinner was delicious too. Chicken made into balls in creamy hot pot soup and lots of different veggies like watercress, enoki mushrooms and cabbages. Buffet style breakfast is delicious.
Aircon was central one so only able to select fan speed. It was a bit hot especially at night even with the windows opened in late kspring.
The bedroom has an unpleasant smell in the entrance area (not from smoking) even after using the air freshener. Probably due to toilets located at door entrance.
Not sufficient space for 3 luggages and only 1 special mat for 1 luggage so as not to damage the tatami. In the morning after room are cleaned up, you can see that there are many scratches on the beautiful tatami, a sorry sight. Futons are laid out when we leave for dinner, the area was tight & crammed for 4 adults (16 sqm equivalent to 9 tatami). The coffee tables are stacked up and left not much space to move around and to open 3 luggages. We found that single/double/triple occupancy also uses the same room types so it does not make sense. The room would only be just nice for 2 adults. The numerous room types are displayed in a room map.

Impressive mountain and city views. Nice onsens - both indoor and outdoor.
Despite large breakfast buffet, selection is limited if you want western food after having had japanese breakfast for many days. Very large hotel.

When I booked the initial reservation with booking.com it had included a price for the dinner. When I arrived they told me that it was invalid and that I would need to pay for the dinner out of pocket and they might not have a space since it's reservations only. They did have space, but again, I paid extra even though I thought it was included.

Room was amazing. The view was really nice and so was the all the tatami area and the bath. Really spacious and wide. Super comfy and the onsen facilities is really nice. The dinner and breakfast served in a private room for the family was also incredible!
Nothing to add here really, nothing negative….maybe it could be a bit more affordable?

The hotel was nice and had a good view of the city. Their hotel store was also good as it had a lot of stuff for sale.
Very limited restaurant options and they won't serve you unless you have done prior reservation. For a hotel that is outside of the city center they should have better restaurant services. And they should have more English speaking staff.

Excellent dinner with wonderful and sincere service from Takayama-san. The baths had nice beauty products in the ladies shower stalls and vanity areas. Bath waters were hot and baths were spacious, with the semi outdoor one having a lovely view. Breakfast spread was wonderful!
The shuttle bus service to and from Matsumoto station is so convenient for guests.
the duvets were nice and fluffy but kept sliding off the bed. I think bc of the duvet covers.

The room is spacious and the staff really trying their best to give good service and cater our requests despite the language barrier.
The room and Onsen have beautiful view.
The dinner and breakfast were delicious and have many options.
Our room is in the part of the wings which not renovated yet. Therefore the bathroom is pretty old.

amazing room with an onsen bath. great view of city. staff spoke Japanese as this is a ryokan. this hotel has really wonderful staff. we got our own dining private room for breakfast n dinner.
what impressed us most was on the 2nd night, our “butler” for dinner actually wrote out the kaiseki dinner in English notes and really spoke his best in English to introduce the menu to us. much kudos to his sincere efforts as my Japanese was rudimentary 😅 we really enjoyed our 2 nights stay.
nothing!
