The apartment was spacious and comfortable for two adults and was well equipped for a week long stay. The cost was very competitive for Fort Augustus but the best thing about the property was the location, which was excellent. Right on top of the canal lock gates and a couple of minutes from the shops and restaurants etc.

The cleanliness could have been better ie grubby doors and dusty in places. The toilet seat needs to be replaced, as it was broken and had been glued together. The TV was a nightmare. We managed to get it working somehow but anybody staying there in the future may need a TV engineer to get it working!

Location is good

Extremely disappointed with my stay. On the second day the heating and hot water stopped working, I contacted the housekeeper on 2 separate occasions but was informed this couldn't be resolved until the weekend. This meant cold showers during extremely cold temperatures. I tried sending a message to the owner company but with no response. I will not be using this property again.

Bunk beds would be better to replace with 2 singles. Broken cold tap in kitchen difficult to turn off.

The location and views

Not worth the money we paid. We have stayed in this village before and paid a lot less for better, cleaner facilities. Nothing was provided. Had to buy everything including loo roll. No spare tea towel - 1 to last a week. Not very clean. Crumbs under the table, bathroom didn't smell very fresh. Garden needed some TLC. We did receive milk, tea and coffee on arrival.

We had no heating or hot water for the last two days and nights and are currently awaiting the outcome of a compensation claim from the owners.
