We spent 2 nights at the Varanasi Boutique Hotel during our return to Cartagena from Santa Marta & Minca. We had a 7am flight back to the US and wanted a hotel close to the airport. The Varanasi is just minutes from the airport, so it fit the bill. The staff was friendly & offered some helpful suggestions regarding grocery stores & restaurants close by. The only morning we were able to enjoy breakfast, we were waited on by a lovely young woman who made sure we had everything we wanted.

The room was nice and it was clean but there were frosted glass in the windows so we did not have any view from our room. The bed was comfortable. The staff was helpful and friendly.
The breakfast was very good. It had a large variety of different food and the lady server was extremely nice and had a beautiful smile.
We arrived in Cartagena at 10:30 pm and did not want to walk the short distance to the hotel so we asked a taxi to take us there. Unfortunately we had a very bad experience as the taxi driver drove us around for about 20 minutes looking for the hotel which was only a block and a half away from the airport. We were so upset and tired that we asked him to bring us back to the airport. I then called the hotel from the airport and spoke to a very nice and helpful gentleman who ended up speaking to another taxi driver and told him exactly where the hotel was and that taxi driver brought us to the hotel.
I didn't like the idea that when I checked out I told the reception I took a bottle of water and they charged me $7,000 Colombian pesos cash and when I asked for a receipt for my room, I realized when I reached my home that the same reception charged me again $7, 000 Colombian pesos for the water on my Visa card.

Location was perfect, could walk to the airport 3 mins away. Room was spacious and comfortable. Hotel staff were welcoming and very friendly, attentive. Restaurants close by.

nothing special, for the price I paid it was what I awaited.
The hotel is claiming of providing a shuttle service. after booking a room they informed me they don’t provide it so be careful! I was supposed to arrive very late at night and had no idea about the neighborhood. they didn’t let me cancel although they are not meeting the service as described online.
also the breakfast was for the price way to boring and basic. the lady was not willing to give me more eggs, even when I told her I am vegetarian that’s all I can eat.
was also quite unfriendly at the breakfast.

Everyone was so nice and welcoming. Questions were answered before I could even ask them. Once I turned around by the pool to ask for a towel and Emilce was already standing there with one. It felt so warm, like family. I wanted to stay there because of the airport, but now I want to stay there when I return, even though not in the City centre, it is worth it!!! Special mention to all the staff especially Emilce, I hope I spelt her name right,
cause she is a Queen!!!
I am picky and for me to have zero complaints is rare, but I honestly couldn't ask for more.

This hotel is amazing. Just two steps from the airport. Clean rooms, very helpful staff, nice breakfast included. If you ned to stay close to the airport this is the best solution

We needed a room close to airport for early morning flight. It's 1 block from the airport - easy walk even with luggage. They serve nice breakfast starting very early - 6 AM. Not the best area of the city, but hotel is very clean, nice and quiet.
We had one of the interior rooms with frosted window - no outside light. AC was blowing air right on the bed and adjustments did not help direct airflow away from it. But these were all minor issues. I wouldn't choose this location for a longer stay.

I wanted a pool and a place to work before a flight Pool wasn't usable due to maintenance. The room was unbearably noisy - both from the front desk, but far worse from the street. It was difficult to work and impossible to sleep.
