peaceful, calm and relaxing. we were in “an apartment” which was very good indeed. It was very clean and as we were self catering there was a shop minutes away.

apartment had all the amenities needed for a short family break. great outdoor space. main building is lovely period house with plenty of character. place is clean. lovely walks nearby. easy access to park and ride for York. host was very helpful with tips how to make the most of our stay.

apartment itself is modern and lacks character. especially the sitting room is bare and not very nice. that’s a bit of a shame. pubs are not quite a walking distance as they are 30 mins walk each way which is much for young kids.

Breakfast was great. Room huge. Shower very powerful and hot. Close to nice restaurants and local places of interest. Hosts friendly and helpful.

Nothing but you do need a car

All well suited and comfortable. Would recommend to others in family.

From the communication between the owners and myself to me checking out was just excellent - I was greeted in a friendly professional manor, helped in with my bags; I had room 7 with a four poster bed - sofa, large bathroom with separate shower and jacuzzi bath. plus a beautiful view of the garden. It was all so beautifully set out - very clean and extremely comfy Plenty of tea, coffee and bottles of water - small fridge on the landing with fresh milk in. Breakfast plenty of choice and a time slot to avoid a lot of people eating at the same time - Location - I was here working so location was great - it is also a short drive to two large shopping centres. Highly recommended -

Our stay passed so quickly. Rachel and Izzy were very friendful and helpful. Fabulous, comfortable extra large room with super shower. Excellent breakfast.

Location was superb. The breakfast was cooked to perfection each and every way day of our stay .The room which we stayed in was absolutely amazing.

Leaving to come back home .

The Manor House is located in a small village off a quiet road. Most of the other guests seemed to be regulars and all of an age where there was no problems with noise etc. Comfortable double bed in a clean room with wooden beams. The next village along, Newton, is just over a mile away on a level footpath - some guests walked there and back. Relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of parking in stable yard at back.

Not VAT registered, which business travellers would need to be aware of. The en-suite wasn't particularly big or modern but served the purpose.

Breakfast was traditional English cooked breakfast, with basic range of cereals. It was promptly served and was well cooked. Professional, helpful friendly staff. The bedroom was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The en suite bathroom and shower were clean. There was ready access to a nearby shared fridge with fresh milk for room tea/coffee. There was also plenty of bottled water. The location was a 10-15 minute drive to a Park and Ride (with buses going into York).

Suggestion: the sausages were a bit average and a tastier type would greatly enhance the breakfast. There was a farmyard odour from nearby farms which could not be helped; it added to the rustic experience.
