Locatie perfect.

The property is walking distance to Ryhope beach and a very short drive to Seaham. There are plenty of supermarkets in close driving distance too, and close to main roads to Newcastle. The cottage has plenty of space for two and has adequate facilities for a short or long stay. The bin situation has improved from our last visit so we could actually deal with the rubbish this time.
This is our second stay so we were not put off enough to not stay again last time, however we were disappointed that since our visit 9 months ago, very little has changed. For example the shower curtain is the exact same as before, which as you can imagine after 9 months is rather dirty. Similarly, kitchen utensils have not been replaced in that time including ones that were broken when we came 9 months ago. The property was fairly clean on arrival although care wasn’t taken to clean under things i.e. tables and the bed linen did have stains/blood on. As I said in my last review, the place has so much potential and could be so lovely with a bit of attention and time.
Unfortunately, the neighbours have also acquired a dog since our last visit and were being very irresponsible in letting it bark for hours at night time. Their solution was to turn their TV up very loud to compete with the dog, rather than trying to support the dog. On the second night in particular, the dog barked for 4 hours straight from 10pm to 2am. It got to the point that I had to sleep on the sofa in the next room and put a fan noise on my phone to drown it out. Although this is not the fault of the property owners, it has deterred us from staying again sadly.

Smell musty.
Rear step high to outside bins
Bins overflowing
Loose brass colored strip on doorstep.

Lovely village location,,very nice restaurant nearby. Would stay here again if updated.
In need of lots of TLC but read that in the reviews from earlier on in the year so no change there, lovely place that could be made better, the strong smell of weed from next door was uninvited.

Decent kitchen with all you need
Not clean, walls, floors, doors radiators grimy. Stained cushions and make up on pillowcase. Bizarre purple bottom sheet. Smelly hard towels

Good location & excellent value for money.
A very lucky find 👍
Although property was comfortable & clean,it could do with a bit of TLC.

That the owners were u understanding when I pointed out the cleaners did not clean the property properly..
As I spoke to them when I couldn't get into the property as I didn't look on booking for code properly.
The bedroom was large....double and single bed.
The kitchen was well equipped.

Great location for exploring local area.
Quite neighborhood.
Could do with a few small touches to greatly improve accommodation, e.g only one mirror in the whole place, adding a mirror in the bedroom would make hair drying a lot easier. Replace fridge which is always iced up in the freezer.

Wish it had a welcome booklet would be handy bin liners too would have been nice but just minor details would not stop from staying again

The location is great a short drive to Sunderland Aquatic Centre (15min) and Seaham beach (5mins). The beds were very comfortable, the shower was hot (although pressure could be better) and the property was clean enough for us. The facilities were all there for our two night stay. It was ideal for what me and my daughter needed.
It was warm comfortable and had a homely feel. The kitchen was well kitted out with kettle, toaster, electric oven, gas hob, microwave fridge and washing machine.
Free WiFi and controllable central heating was great !.
As other reviewers have said, Property could do with redecorating and a deep clean, but would not stop us staying again. Some care and attention would make this place a gem, large Cobwebs on the ceiling in the lounge and bathroom is not a good look!.

My second stay and I still think it's good value for money. The location is great a short drive to Seaham and the beach. It was warm comfortable and had a homely feel. The kitchen was well kitted out with kettle, toaster, electric oven, gas hob, microwave fridge and washing machine which was handy and I took a little box of washing powder with me. Free WiFi and controllable central heating which was essential with the cold snap we had.
I'd be happy to stay again as I don't mind doing a bit of cleaning. My partner wasn't as keen to visit again. It was clean and tidy on my last visit and I was perplexed by some of the reviews I read. This time it wasn't so clean. The bedding was clean and fresh but the cutlery and plates cups and glasses were quite grubby. There wasn't any washing up liquid and it looked like everything had been rinsed, there were food residues and fingerprints.. We had to wash it all the first evening. There were dirty cloths and sponges in the dish drainer. The bath looked a bit grubby and there were brown stains on the bottom of the shower curtain. The bin outside was screwed shut and there were full bin bags in the yard from the previous occupier. When we packed on the last day I could find my watch. Looking for it we found loads of dust tissues and a mask under the chairs and the beds. I think the place is given minimal attention between stays and you are really at the mercy of the previous occupiers regarding the state the place will be in on arrival. If your standards are very high it probably not for you. If your budget is tight and you want a crash pad or don't mind giving the place a once over if needed, I'd say give it a go.

I was delighted that there was enough room for my daughter and myself. It was cheaper than getting two rooms in a hotel. I found myself in a rabbit hole online researching the censuses from 1900 and looking at the families that had lived there over the last 100 or so years
Just an attention to detail on the cleaning however I was expecting it after the reviews I read and I wasn’t massively bothered

It was very handy for our needs and lovely and warm.
Little things: no washing up liquid, toilet seat that wouldn’t stay up, nearly empty soap dispenser.

Brilliant location, easy to find, close to shops, and walking distance to pubs and restaurants, beach just 2minutes away
Needs abit of TLC but will definitely return for another stay

It had everything we needed for a stay over Christmas and was located not far from where we were visiting a friend and where we were exploring too. The cottage was comfortable and warm and the bed was comfy.
The cottage needed a bit of tlc and a thorough clean. The fridge wasn't cleaned that well and when I thought I'd lost something down the side of the sofa, on checking I found the sides between the sofa cushions full of dust and crumbs and hadn't been cleaned for a long time. Also very noisy neighbours next door.

Terraced house was a little dated but clean and comfortable, ideal location for what I wanted and would recommend.
Maybe a bit better pressure on the shower

The location was good for what I needed.
Unfortunately the smell of damp, particularly in the bedroom upset my asthma. The lack of handsoap and washing up liquid was also disappointing.

Close to beaches
Cottage was dirty ,with a pile of dirt that had been swept up and left, wall in bedroom was actually wet from damp. Very noisey neighbours whose swearing could be clearly heard through the paper thin walls, whole place needs a good clean and a refurb .

Location, central heating
The whole place is dirty (feels and looks grubby), noisy neighbours, no mirror in bedroom, towels are poor quality, no information about recycling (blue bin is screwed shut), can feel springs in the mattress. Feels unloved, rundown and unmanaged. Needs money spending on it to bring it up to a basic standard.

This was a cosy little cottage in a quiet area and an easy drive to the beach and town. I've seen a few bad reviews but don't be concerned. It's an old cottage and not the Ritz. It's not perfect it has a lived in feel but I found this made it homely, the rear windows are old and wood and probably need changing soon but it wasn't an issue. There are venitian blinds and curtains. The place is clean and warm. It's incredible value for money. The bed is comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a washing machine. I found this to be an excellent base for exploring the area and sea glass hunting. I enjoyed my stay and I have already booked to come back in March.
There is a crack in the floor between the kitchen and living room. The lino has broken over it. It could do with a repair.

Location for what I wanted was good.
Cottage smelt old and damp, the smell hits you as you open the front door. The whole place needs a deep clean. Bathroom had not been cleaned. Used cloths had been left folded up in kitchen, they smelt awful. Bin outside not emptied often as it smelt awful and when i opened to put rubbish in lits of flies came out. I had to unblock the bath as plug was full of hair. Shower was barely warm. Bed was not comfortable, you could feel the springs. Bedroom felt damp. The place needs some homely touches. No mirror in bedroom. Perhaps put some books and jigsaws in. Air freshners in each room might help a bit. The place is bare and not welcoming. Add a folder of things to do in the area. Deep clean and sort out the smell and it could be a nice place.

It was ok for beach locations very close to nice walks
The damp through out the property gave a bad damp smell especially in the bedroom and it's in need of a good clean thers a lot of spider webs and spiders and the tv kept going off it needs a revamp also the neighbor next door was very noisy shouting all the time and banging
3.0
It was close to Seaham and Sunderland. The local people are lovely. The fish and chip shop down the road is incredible.
We spent Sunday morning cleaning the kitchen so that we felt we could cook and eat in there.
The place needs painting and the kitchen and bathroom windows need to be scraped right back and reputtied before repainting.
The place reeked of skunk, probably from a neighbour, we realised.
The electric sockets in the living room didn't properly accept plugs so that it felt quite unsafe to plug things in.
Ryhope itself is clearly a very deprived area, which is a good experience to make you grateful for what you've got, but a bit of a shock if you're not expecting it.
Overall, we were quite shocked by the state of the place.
5.0
The area was quiet and the bed was comfortable which gave us undisturbed sleep and the facilities were adequate for our needs as we used effectively as a b&b.
The herbal smell of weed emanating from next door was quite off-putting at times.
In terms of facilities, everything was there but the property lacked some TLC and was not properly clean. Cobwebs in the bathroom, dirty shower curtain and some rather scruffy areas around the house. A few minor changes and improvements would make this property more appealing and attractive. However, having said the above, the property suited our needs and we would stay again when visiting family in the area.

location to beach and quiet
should not be on rental market, unclean, run down and in desperate need of repair. moldy shower curtain, unclean appliances, holes in floor (trip hazardous), carpets and floors dirty and smell awful, stains on walls, filthy bin in kitchen, windows don’t open. couldn’t eat at property.

The fantastic beach at Ryhope was only a couple of minutes walk. And Seaham beach was equally fantastic, just a couple of miles away. Seaham also had shops.
No reasonably priced local shops.
