Fantastic lodge and very kind and awesome group of staff. The breakfast is great and the whole place was very cosy and it’s an ideal location for a ski trip in Madarao. Would definitely return.

My husband and I spent a few days at Snowball chalet over thanksgiving. It was an amazing winter retreat just 30 minutes (and an easy bus ride if you can coordinate the times) from Iiyama station. The chalet felt like a winter wonderland where we could cozy up by the fire and watch the snow covered mountains. Pillows and bed were soft and fluffy. The staff was awesome and made our experience even more worthwhile! Rena was welcoming from the moment we walked in. Catering to our changing schedule, helping us with reservations and taking us on side trips to see snow monkeys. The dinner and breakfasts were hearty, fresh and beautifully constructed. Dan the owner was friendly and accommodating. Most of all we enjoyed staying up for late night drinks and hanging with Rena and Kon by the fire :) I cannot say enough good things about Snowball chalet! We hope to become regulars:)

Hosts Rena and Kon were incredibly accommodating and simply great people to talk to, it was a pleasure to meet them. The bedroom was comfy and the shared lounge area cosy with a fire. The food was plentiful and delicious, and even based on our preferences.
