Unless you get one of the rooms with a beachfront balcony (a lot more expensive), the rest of the rooms are dark with no view to the outside. Building areas have quite a bit of clutter all around

Easily the best spot in Porto da Barra. Couldn’t have felt more welcome and taken care of — the owners are top level, — kind, helpful and so joyful, and their staff is so lovely. The building itself dates back to the 1850s and the owners have preserved much of the original design (ie., beautiful wood and tile floors, tall wooden doors, stained glass etc.) while updating it for modern use and adding personal design touches through out. You can see and feel the care and love that has been put into this place. Rooms are comfortable, AC, TV, safe, hot showers, wifi (good enough for remote work) etc. beds are comfy with crisp white sheets. It’s located directly in front of the beach with views of the most incredible sunsets from the beachfront rooms, terrace and open air garden on the top floors where you’ll get a panoramic view! Walking distance from anything you could possibly need and quick taxi/Uber to historic sites and museums. Leave extra space in your suitcase if you’re into vintage fashion — there’s a well curated collection on the ground level at poppy bizarre!

I stayed in a beach front room and it was fantastic - great value for the money. The balcony overlooking the beach was perfect. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful.

I noticed quite a few improvements since my last stay, like Hotel quality matress, hot and cold running water and new silent air conditioner. The beach and street above are being cleaned every night. That is very impressive, especially since I came from Copacabana beach, which was disgustingly dirty!

I didn't stay long enough to find anything wrong.

like for other reviewers my shower was cold so it would seem that problem hasn’t been fixed… my sea view room in fact had opaque stained glass windows - charming but you can’t see through them so you can’t have the view and an air-conditioned room at the same time. the property were extremely slow about responding to a request to extend my stay. the address of the property on booking.com is incorrect - wrong number - the hotel is in a yellow building a few doors down.
