Very well kept, comfortable, clean, friendly staff. It’s in a narrow street in town so it’s surrounded by all sorts of buildings but it has nice outdoor terraces with a beautiful view of the sea.

Nice hotel with friendly and helpfull staff.

Wifi is very slow although higher speed on the island should be possible. Maybe it is too expensive and therefore limited to the guests to a few Mbits per second.

Our room on the 3rd floor had a beautiful view of the bay. The hotel was well maintained and the staff was very helpful. It was located near the pier within walking distance of many restaurants.

Breakfast had limited options. Wifi was slow at best, unavailable half the time, but this is true for all of Galápagos.

This hotel is ideal. It is beautiful, clean and new on a quiet side street yet centrally located. The staff was always very friendly and helpful. Our room was big and clean with a nice bathroom and shower. We did not use the jacuzzi or the bar on the second floor terrace - but the view was very nice. The hotel breakfast was very good. Blanca, from Sphera Galapagos Travel Agency, was always available downstairs and particularly helpful with setting up good tours and transportation, which was very nice for us as we don't speak Spanish. Just got back a few days ago and I highly recommend this hotel.

Downtown Puerto Ayora is a jumble - modern buildings surrounded by houses and small buildings along narrow streets on hills that slope downward to the ocean. La Isla is a very modern beautiful 3 story hotel with a gorgeous view over the town and ocean from an open air 3rd floor bar. Room was excellent; restaurant was beautiful with very good food (ceviche the best I've tasted). 1/2 block from the main ocean road - with lots of restaurants; a 20" walk from the Darwin Science Center and the guided Tortoise walk. Price not cheap but a good value given the beauty and location of the hotel. Journey from airport to hotel starts in an almost tree-less landscape, climbs over highlands with heavy clouds/rain/many trees and lush pastures, and descends to a normal beach climate - very much like going from one side of a Hawaiian island to the other.

Small complaints only: At the hotel. 3 story twisting wooden stairways; no elevator. As an offset, the young staff (all very service conscious) always at the ready to carry bags up and down the stairs. A relatively long 45km journey from airport to town (a 5KM bus ride from airport to boat- 5"short boat ride - and then a 40 KM taxi ride to town which includes $5 fee for the bus, $1 for the boat and $25 for the taxi. Buying tickets for bus slows down the journey somewhat. Also, the luggage transfer process at each step in the process takes a bit of time.

location was great, staff were friendly, modern interior, free filtered drinking water, support with tours was great!

breakfast was terrible because the selection was poor and was never topped up so if you got there a little later or behind a big group, there was nothing left. Noisy outside which was not helped because the balcony doors didn’t close properly. shower took 10 mins to get hot.

only one thing - the bar near played music very loudly both nights of our stay that kept me awake into the early hours - I think most rooms wouldn’t have heard though!

nice, spacious and comfortable room. location was also good, short walk to both the locals street where all their restaurants are, and the main street. staff was nice and helpful, breakfast was simple but good.

if you want to use the jacuzzi plan a day ahead as it takes 3h to warm it, and tell them an hour ahead of the time you actually plan to use, because in that sense they are very unhelpful. it works through solar panels, so it’s a bit ridiculous that they don’t keep it warm for customers given that there’s plenty of sun around the galapagos and people could readily use it, my advice would be that they should keep it at 30 degrees at least, it was 27 after 2h heating when we asked to use it. silly problem though, would still stay here again and definitely recommend the place, but I think this would be a good improvement for customers
