I cannot say enough good things about this property. It has a wonderful location. We were close enough to town to enjoy restaurants and grocery stores, but remote enough to go hiking from the yard and enjoy nature. It was clean, well-appointed, and Kristin the owner, was wonderful. The drive to the national park and the crater wasn’t long at all. We experienced a lot of rain during our stay which made the sights difficult, however it was great to come home to a warm home at the end of the day. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat and recommend it.

We chose this house for the size and proximity to specific sites we wanted to visit. The house had many extras that made it feel like home. The location of the home was perfect. It was central to the area we wanted to visit, from Vik to Reykjavik to the Fagradalsfjall Volcano to the Gulfoss Waterfall. There's also a grocery store in town to grab snacks for the drive or purchase food to fix at the house. Don't forget about the bakery. It opens early and is a nice treat, as well.

I wanted to find a house for the week for my family to explore Iceland outside of Reykjavik. Hveragerdi was the perfect location as it is only 30 to 40 minutes from Reykjavik, and right in the middle of the golden circle. It was also just under a 2-hour drive to Vik and all that little town has to offer. The house met all of our expectations, was comfortable, and extremely private. Hveragerdi is also a nice little town with plenty of restaurants and the new "Greenhouse" that has shops, food, and drinks.
Kristin was an excellent host and was quick to respond to any questions.

This property was amazing - photos don’t do it justice - it felt much larger than the photos. It was the perfect home base for a family trip. The hot spring river trail was amazing. Very nice town, lots of choices for eating out, or getting food to prepare in. I will definitely recommend Kristins property to anyone who is looking to do a trip to Iceland.

Beautiful and well appointed home close to some of the most popular attractions in Iceland. Beds and linens were comfortable and neighborhood was dark (for the northern lights) and quiet. Hot tub was a big hit and there is a river babbling through the back yard. Steam is rising from fissures all around which was so unique. Five stars all around.

This was the perfect place for my family to come back to after long days driving and site seeing! It gave us a safe and comfortable retreat to relax and reflect on all that we had done each day and the location- the view and privacy - was perfect!! We absolutely loved this property - the host was gracious and very easy to communicate with. The house is even better than the photos show. We stay with 4 adults and 4 kids (3,4,6, and 7) and they loved the inside of the home as well as being able to easily access the nearby trail to the river. Perfect Home-Base to Explorer Southwest Iceland
Our 9-person family had a wonderful stay in Kristin's beautiful riverside home. It was well furnished with everything we needed. The location -- on a quiet street just north of Hvergerdi town and adjacent to several outstanding walking trails -- and beautiful views of the river were highlights. We also used the hot tub several times at the end of our day trips around Iceland.
Hvergerdi is an ideal location to base yourself for day trips across the amazing sights in Southwest Iceland. For example: 1 hr drive to Geysir / Thingvellir, 40 min to Reykjavik, 2 hours to South Coast sights, 3 hours to Snaefellsness, 4 hours to Glacier Lagoon / Diamond Beach.
Kristin was readily available to help with our questions and needs. An outstanding property and outstanding host!

The home itself had anything and everything needed including a nice size washer and dryer with detergent provided which was really nice on our long trip. Loved our stay in Hveragerdi
This house is in a lovely quiet location with a beautiful view over the river. Close to all the main attractions. The house has all the basic necessities, a generous pantry and Kristin was very helpful and responsive. Loved the fact that cable TV was provided so we could continue watching Ozark. We had a very enjoyable stay in Hvergerdi. The town has a great grocery store, bakery, and pizza/ brewery. The "Steaming River" is very close to the house and was a wonderful hike. The home has a well stocked kitchen and the living space was very comfortable to relax in after many days of hiking.

Great stay in Iceland
Family of 5 (ages 5, 9, and 11) spent three nights in this cute Icelandic town about 40 minutes outside Reykjavik. House was perfect for us - lots of bedrooms, so much light, private, beautiful setting. Hour to Westman Islands and Gulfosa, so easy day trips. Kristen was very accommodating, allowing us to shift the dates of our stay a few weeks out. Great experience!

Our group had a great time at Kristin’s property. The house was exactly as described and the location was central to all major activities. The town had great restaurants and a grocery store for those that want to eat at home. The kids loved the hot tub and the river that ran along the back yard.

Incredible views from a neat place. Nice rooms. Perfect open feel in the kitchen, dinning, and living area. Large windows make it feel spacious and like you are outdoors. Private feel. Amazing deck. Host was very responsive.

Wow. High marks for both the house and the hosts. Since this house was being painted, Kristin generously offered us her other property next door (#9244097) so this review is for that property. Kristin was very accommodating and very responsive. The location cannot be beat- right on the river. secluded and peaceful. The geothermally heated hot tub on the river was pure heaven. We had many amazing soaks. The house is very, very roomy with many common areas for people to spread out. Well stocked kitchen, large dining table, very comfy sofas, great views all around. There are three large bedrooms and 2 smaller bedrooms. All can accommodate couples, but the smaller rooms don’t leave much room to walk around (my 14 year old slept in one and loved how sunny and cozy it was) . One bedroom has a toddler bed. Three bedrooms are near each other, and 2 are more separated. All bedrooms are on the same (lower) floor. The lower floor opens up to the ground level where you can walk down to the hot tub. There is a large grocery store about 5 minute drive. Kristin patiently talked us through how to fill up the hot tub (it was easy) and operate the stove (we had not operated an induction stove before) and was always available to answer our questions. We would absolutely stay here again!!!

This was the best house we've ever rented. It was even better than the photos. It's the last house on the small road so we had easy access in and out but felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. We had steam vents on one side and open views to the country-side on the other. On three of our days there were crystal clear skies and the Aurora was dancing all night long. Our whole group could comfortably lay out on the wooden deck and watch. It was perfect.
We had a lot of questions about supplies pre-trip and the owner was very responsive. The kitchen was well-equipped, the beds comfy.

BEAUTIFUL HOME AND COUNTRY SETTING
My family and I stayed here for 3 nights and loved the home, it’s contemporary decor and well stocked kitchen. We made use of the surrounding countryside, the pretty stream and hiking trails outside the door and a geothermal pool not far away. Our stay here was a highlight for us on our 6 day visit to Iceland.

Amazing House in the country!
We had 4 adults and two kids and we love, love loved this place. The house was spacious and very well appointed and decorated. The main "great room" was perfect for the kids and adults to hang out and unwind, and since the house was large no one ever felt on top of each other.
The location was great. Right down the street from the community thermal pool. We bought a 10 pass ticket and ended each day with a swim and dip in the hot tub.
Overall, A++++ all around.

Nice house, very clean, great location
We had four couples sharing this house. The kitchen was well stocked, the beds and furniture were comfortable, and the house was clean. The view of the stream in the back was beautiful. Kristen (the owner) was very helpful. There is a natural geothermal stream that is about an hour hike away. I would recommend this property to my family and friends.

A Wonderful Retreat
Thank you Kristin for sharing this home with us. Spacious, immaculate, well equipped, very well located. Our three generation family of six had a great 8 day stay. Restaurants, grocery, local fish market (cooked fresh fish on the grill) all nearby. You will be in the car for long periods in order to see Iceland's sights. Nice to have something special to come home to.

Perfect fit!
This home and location were a perfect fit for our family of 10, ranging in age from 5 to 82. Every one had space and the kitchen, dining area and family room provided gathering areas. The kitchen was more than well-equipped, there were toys and games suitable for boys or girls, the bedroom and bathroom arrangements suited our needs. The home at the end of a private driveway provided serenity, the lawn was great for running and play, the nearby river made soothing sounds. The town of Hveragerdi was a welcoming small town strategically located for day trips to the Golden Circle, Reykjavik, the Blue Lagoon, a variety of museums and other southern Icelandic places of interest. We knew Iceland would be a fascinating place to visit, it exceeded our expectations and provided memories to last a lifetime.
