Overall, the hotel was one of the best hotels I've ever been to. I've been traveling for 40 years, going to many high-end hotels, and Saka Hotel left me very satisfied. The Kaiseki dinner and breakfast were wonderful. The club room is full of snacks and drinks. The hotel was very clean and spacious, and everything was beautiful. The staff was so friendly. Additionally, the location was close to Ninenjaka and Sanenjaka.

The hotel room was very clean, but various bugs and snails got into the restroom and room because the onsen area was so hot and humid. Therefore, the winter season might be better to use the open-air onsen room. The onsen area was nice, but there was no view at all because there were no windows in the onsen area and room, although the ceiling was open in the onsen area.

Exceptional staff, excellent location, facilities, and amenities. Couldn’t have felt more welcome. Staff very accommodating and patient.

This hotel is AMAZING! We booked the room with the open air bath as a Birthday Treat and the staff brought us cake, wrote cute messages on my dessert, and even made us Onigiri with our leftover rice from dinner! The location in Kyoto is perfect! I wish I could have stayed longer, I love every single part of this hotel and the staff.

You have to leave the keys at the front desk each time you leave the hotel which can be a little bit annoying.

I did not like that the room was not cleaned every day. I misunderstood the question at check in. I thought that they were not going to change the sheets … but did not think that they were not going to empty the trash cans daily.

It is a hotel that offers an authentic experience, with a very good location. It is a different concept through which you can experience local traditions. The services were above the level of hotel classification. We enjoyed the massage chair in the lounge area where we could serve tea, coffee, snacks, wine or champagne after 16:00.

If you are not used to local food and want a European breakfast, you should notify the hotel in advance and see if they have alternatives.

Amazing hotel, we were met by the friendliest staff for our whole stay. When we first arrived we got to book a time at the private bath and that was such a relaxing experience after “speedtraveling” Japan for several days. the hotel also had big rooms, and a great location!

The property was near popular destinations on the east side of Kyoto which made sightseeing easier. The service was top notch and the rooms very comfortable. There is an area to get snacks and drinks at which was nice after a long day.

It was hard to find the entrance at first.

What a charming ryokan! The breakfast was nothing short of amazing, make sure you have it included in your stay. My family loved the osen-style bathroom and the location in Kyoto!

This beautiful small hotel is quintessentially Japanese. Quiet, elegant and comfortable. It’s on the doorstep of the lovely temple district and we walked around the whole area at night avoiding all the people who fill the area in the daytime.
