Great location, in front of the beach and walking distance to restaurants and downtown. Ecological feeling with cabins for rooms.

Very poor WiFi. Rooms are very frugal. Breakfast (included) was very limited to a few options (I.e. only one slice of bread, no orange juice)

Great location, super relaxed and the pool was perfect to cool off. Great with kids and the staff were the best, super friendly and helpful.

The only downside was the WiFi. You have to sit right next to reception to use it thus not in the rooms or by the pool. Great if you want to disconnect 😬

The location was ideal, it was far enough from the city center but not too far (maybe 600m away). The whole staff was amazing! We stayed for 2 weeks and everyone was nice and helpful from the day we arrived to our last day. The rooms were very clean (cleaned daily) and the air conditioning was wonderful during the summer heat. The place also loaned us a stroll during our stay, making life easier!

The beach was amazing but it would be nice if they had cabanas, umbrellas, shade on the beach side where the Sun-beds are.

WE LOVE EVERYTHING! This place and especially the staff really exceeded our expectations, super clean rooms, very comfortable beds and pillows, a huge balcony, delicious breakfast and incredibly good food, all the staff are super attentive and friendly, I asked for a small birthday detail and they did a beautiful and amazing decoration in the room. We have been to Holbox 7 times in different hotels and this is the hotel that we liked the most, definitely from now on Hotel Xaloc will be our only one. Thank you for pampering us so much.

Great room and surrounding

This property was perfect for our stay in Holbox. It’s situated far enough away from the main hustle and bustle to have quiet, but close enough to walk back and forth for lunch and dinner. We were given an unexpected upgrade to a sea view from the garden view, which provided a wonderful breeze at night. The staff were friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the towel creations each time our room was cleaned. Breakfast was included and they offer decent options. The fresh juice each morning was great. The pool was clean and just the right size (and I appreciated that they had one for adults only).

The pillows were uncomfortable, but overall the bed wasn’t bad. My only complaint would be that the outdoor lights around the pool and grounds remained on all night and were really bright.

I booked this hotel just for one night. I ended up staying 4. I think it says it all ! More than recommend it !

The only thing that they could have better was changing the no kids pool to the one in close to the beach.

Wonderful! Location, cleanliness, excellent beds and linens. Pool and be@ch were clean. Charming staff. Only improvement would be drinkable water and wifi in the rooms.

Location was excellent. Walking distance to town. Steps to beach. Breakfast was like dining at a restaurant. Delicious. Close to many bars and restaurants. A lot of Europeans which was enjoyable. Fabulous beaches.

Our room was close to a service road. It could get noisy. Room needed more plugs. Room needed a piece of furniture to put clothes away. Space in front needed more beach chairs.

Perfect location at the beach and near the centre of Holbox. Sunbeds at the beach, next to a beachvolleyball area.

The shower was cold. No wifi in the rooms, only near the reception and even there it didn’t work properly. Airco in the room would switch off after half an hour. Poor English of the staff. Overall just too expensive for what you get. This place has huge potential if they would fix few of the things above.

I liked the room esthetic and the warm shower.

When I checked in, the front desk guy asked me why I was traveling alone and not with friends. It was a little inconsiderate because I’ve traveled alone after a divorce, after deaths, after health issues as a way to escape. There is no drink or food service at the pool nor beach. No umbrellas at the beach either. I’ve had skin cancer before so umbrellas are a must. No WiFi unless you’re standing directly by the front desk. The DJ was playing right next to my room with no one around. Why play music with no food or drinks? Not one person was around to listen, and I had to ask 3 times to get him to stop so I could even hear my own thoughts. The front desk guy asked him to stop once, and he did for less than 5 minutes and started again. Carlos is beyond rude. I can’t even believe he has a job because of how incredibly rude he was. I have traveled to 40 countries and many of them more than once, especially Mexico, and I have never, ever had a hotel worker be so rude or condescending. I’ve never even been so disappointed in a hotel because as a world traveler, you have to go with the flow. I’m not picky about hotels at all, but this place is absolutely terrible. Aside from the insanely loud music and no service, the staff makes it completely uncomfortable and like you’re a burden.

The staff were so lovely and helpful. They engaged with our children throughout our trip making them laugh every day. they cleaned every day and the pancakes at breakfast were good. great location too

the restaurant was set back away from the beach side of the property. If there was a beach bar/restaurant there would have been more people and a better vibe.

The hotel is in a good location, with spacious rooms, comfy beds, hot water and good air con.

Firstly, we had to change rooms as our first room was leaking slightly from the thatched roof in the rain. Second, the hotel has so many mosquitos it’s impossible to relax. I understand that this can’t be helped as it’s out with the hotels control but there are small solutions which could ease the number of mosquitos, such as eco friendly plug-ins in the rooms, providing guests with mosquito repellent, mosquito nets without holes that fully cover the bed etc. On our last day, we did see maintenance spraying the huts with repellent but this wasn’t done every day. Third, the hotel claims it has wifi but it is practically non existent unless you are standing directly in reception so it not as advertised. Please don’t stay here if you need wifi access as you will be disappointed. Fourth, the staff are nice and try their best but the breakfast situation was a shambles most mornings. We had to repeatedly ask the waiter where our food was as guests had come and went but our breakfast was no where to be seen after an hour. Only once we’d ordered four times did it show up. The same staff serve the beach, and honestly you are better walking to the bar area at reception and getting yourself your drink as it is so slow. The pool area is small, but as there are no sun loungers in this area (only small chairs) we didn’t use it. The pool bar is also closed. Lastly, the rooms, although spacious, are so dark and in need of a little TLC. This is definitely not a 4 star hotel, it’s a 2 star at best and although we enjoyed the island, staying at this hotel tainted our experience. It’s not worth the prices they charge and we really wish we’d stayed somewhere else.

The location was centrally located to the town center, restaurants, local shopping, and the beach. The staff's attention to detail was impeccable.

The only thing I did not like about my stay was in the early mornings the water would stop running.

Very tatty, could really do with a cosmetic revamp. Charging 4 star prices for 2 star hotel. Decking by pool was flaking and broken in places (quite dangerous). One of the ceramic lamps in our room was smashed. The curtains had stains on them and each panel was a different length (some unhemmed) ?!? The shower was a cold trickle and the tiles in the bathroom were chipped with grouting flaking out. We also booked an adults only section for calm and quiet and the adults only pool was filled with yelling children all day every day. It was only when I complained on the last day of our stay that it was explained that the childrens pool was closed due to a problem. I would have really appreciated it if we could have been told this in advance as we would have booked somewhere else. In fairness they did eventually refund us one nights stay but this didn’t really compensate us for a mostly ruined holiday. It’s a shame as this place has great potential, lovely staff in an amazing location, but in its current state not worth what they are charging.
