Absolutely gorgeous property and room. Very tranquil feeling. The private onsen in my room was soothing and clean, and the dinner and breakfast were great and filling.

The staffs were very nice even we were not good at English. The front desk staff who was very nice, polite and helpful. She answered all the questions (shopping, spring spa, meals, shower, transportation, etc) and she helped us to take all the luggage to the room. The hot spring spa was awesome. It is divided to several spring spas, some for all guests, some for private use (reservation is needed). The room was not that big but the beds were very comfortable and it was very quiet at night. (all rooms were fully booked) The meals both dinner and breakfast were excellent. The staffs introduced and taught us what food was the first and then so on...... The location might not be the best, however, they provided pick up service and free car parking. I would like to recommend you to choose "Kurokawa Onsen Oku no Yu"

It was a little hard to predict the onsen opening/closing schedule. It would be nice if I could see this information in advance.

Everything. Staff was lovely. The baths stunning. Food was great (kids got „adapted“ menu which was very positive). The outside walks were beautiful, especially in the evening with lights. We should have stayed longer!!!

The kaiseki is very good and sumptuous. The ingredients served were fresh, and the kitchen took pride in the preparation.

The futon bed is too thin, in my opinion. I find it uncomfortable to sleep with just 1 layer of futon bed. Double layer will be just nice.

One of the most beautiful ryokan seen, a bit far from the center which can still be reached on foot in 5 minutes. Our room was very large with a view of the forest and the stream, comfortable, quiet. There are many baths, both mixed (at certain times), private or for families. The outdoor pools, in the cave, or by the river are truly fantastic. The Japanese breakfast overlooking the forest is something priceless

overall it was a very good experience ranging from services, food and accommodation. we will revisit this property for sure!

Private onsen and foods

Location - a bit difficult to find for foreigners who cannot read Japanese,

The facility is excellent. Many onsens & private onsen too. Staff is excellent, very attentive. The dinner and breakfast are great. Both delicious and good amount of food. The view of the room makes you feel like you are in the middle of nature.

The onsen with waterfall & cave onsen is for both sex, so being a female, almost not be able to use it (even though it is suppose to be lady only at late night.) The location is a little far away from the town - 20-30min walk. The town is beautiful especially at night with all the lanterns. Also the road drive into the hotel is very narrow & have problem if there are cars on opposite direction, have to drive very carefully. A little on the pricey side.
