Lapili Residence is a beautiful and well kept establishment. Our apartment was clean and was serviced every day. If you plan to do some cooking yourself make sure to bring oil and spices as you will find no such in the kitchen. Everything worked well and staff was really helpful and friendly. Pool is absolutely fantastic. The restaurant La Capannina in the residence and the Yoga Bar at the beach serve really delicious meals. The long wide beach with fine white sand is a dream. People in the area are friendly and welcoming. Through a visit in a small shop 20 meters down the street towards the sea we got in contact with a local driver who arranged great tours for us at very favorable prices.

The breakfast buffet is a bit of a contrast to the wonderful meals served in the restaurant. It is actually far-fetched to call it a buffet as the selection was a bit sparse and unambitious. During breakfast it was our experience that the restaurant functioned as an office with loud talk and telephone calls by what seemed to be the hosts. Be aware that the restaurant is closed mondays which means no breakfast. The beach is adverticed as private but it is not - nor did we expect that - but you do find nice sunbeds and umbrellas close to the water at the Yoga Bar for Lapili residents.

Very clean, and spacious rooms. Amazing private terrace in the room to relax. Nice swimming pool - great for kids. Quiet location. The restaurant that can be found inside the hotel, which is managed by a nice Italian couple, serves amazing food and superb cappuccinos. They can safely cater for people with special diet needs and food allergies, which is very much appreciated.

The apartments lack all basic amenities in the bathroom and the kitchen (which is unfortunate, because having a kitchen without some basics to cook is not very useful). The bed was quite hard. There is a walk to the “private” area on the beach, and the moment you step aside the building or get to the beach it is likely to be overwhelmed by people selling things. Also, this is not necessarily the hotel’s fault and it is solely based on my own experience (which may have been very different to what other women have experienced), but as a female (young-ish) solo traveler seeking rest and quietness after some adventures in Tanzania’s mainland, this area felt quite unsafe for me. Despite my efforts to go unnoticed and avoid contacts, I got constantly and persistently harassed and chased by local men, and had to cope with lots of inappropriate comments and intrusive behaviors both outside and inside the hotel (from security staff). I ended up leaving the hotel 2 days earlier than planned and moving to a resort in Nungwi where I could finally get the peaceful rest I was seeking.

the design of the property was nice the staff were kind the owner was around the property so that was nice. solomon was great he helped us with many of our needs and planned our activities. good value. quiet guests

the beds were really bad. the queen bed was very hard and the extra bed we had wasnt straight it had a curve in the middle which really hurt our back. the bed sheets were very thin.

The place feels brand new and everything is amazingly designed and well placed. The beach bar was a hidden jewel for sure! - The food was amazing, the vibes immaculate (and the cats and bush babies just adorable). It is the first time we chose to spend one day in the accommodation rather than going out because of how great everything was ^_^

If you come by car remember that the entrance road is like most other minor roads in Zanzibar (lunar-landscape-like), so be prepared!

Nice cozy restaurant owned by the nicest Italian couple. Close enough to the beach (walking distance) and not overpriced. Nice little haven surrounded by trees, nice terrace space.

What a stunning spot! Surrounding by a beautiful tropical garden and able to jump into the pool in less that a minute from our apartment 😂 hilarious. The bar on the top Floor perfect place to have a drink seeing the day pass by and the stars making their place in the sky, beautiful sunset we saw 😍 Even though is not facing the ocean, It took us 2 min to reach the beautiful Indian Ocean & the private spot they have to lay down in the sunbeds (to reach it we walked through the village, we liked it a lot, u see the real life and appreciate what u have) We will definitely come back for a longer vacation ☺️

Lapili Residence is a small oasis only a few meters far from the best part of Kiwengwa beach with a beautiful tropical garden, a big swimming pool, an excellent bar-restaurant, boutique shop, spa facilities and more. The apartments decorated in african style are clean and spacious with kitchen, ideal also for long term accommodation. The staff and the owners always available and helpful. Overall the perfect place to be!

The amazing Masaai staff at the gate made me feel like home 😀 and were very helpful too. All of them made my stay so special. Solomon and the driver Hasaan were also very supportive. I thoroughly enjoy learning new cultures and immersing myself with the locals. The location of the property offered me the perfect opportunity to be part of the village and interact with the locals everytime I stepped out of the property. I also recommend you support my friend Mngambo who sells fresh fruits and vegetables in the village as well as the local restaurant just next to his shop that sells home-made local food.

The staff that worked at the place wasn't super helpful. Everything costed extra. Like a second towel for the beach. But that's the only thing.

On site restaurant with very good Italian food and breakfasts. A/C in bedroom was nice and cold. Pool was very nice and well maintained. Appreciated the ceiling fans in living room and bedroom. Hotel is in a small village and there are stores selling fruits and water nearby.

Only one room had A/C and even with fans at full speed, afternoons were very hot in other areas. Lots of confusion about what was included with room price (free breakfasts were after some discussion, drinking water was not except for 1 small bottle on arrival). Beach access requires walking a ways through village and narrow streets. It was fine during day, but did not feel safe walking there alone at night. Wifi strength in room was poor. Kitchenette was nice to have, but some basic supplies would have made it better (oil, salt, pepper, ect)

Beautifully manicured, new space with a pool and excellent restaurant on site. Apartments have just what you need for your stay and the staff are fantastic

Staff was very professional, caring and flexible. The room was always clean, and the whole facility was very designed. Refreshing coctails, delicious italian food.

The staff were very welcoming. The room is big and clean. Pool is very nice and clean. The location is good close to mafarasi.

The mattress seems to be new but very uncomfortable ( too hard ). The food we ordered in the restaurant was not good ( Burger & KFC chicken ).

I have booked this place for 1 night, but at the end we stayed 4.. Lapili is a very pleasant place with all kind of amenities available. The whole property is brand new and the atmosphere, especially at night is fantastic. The position is ideal to visit the island Thanks for everything

We’ve spent our last day in Zanzibar at kiwengwa beach at Lapili residence and I can say that everything was so pleasant, from the the lovely owners to the kindness of the whole staff, helpful and always smiling. Everything was simply amazing! The apartment in African style with comfortable beds, the beautiful pool and relaxing area, the beach and the food at the restaurant that was very good and tasty. Would definitely stay here again and already recommended this gem to my friends. It’s a great value for money.

I liked everything, I only regret for not staying longer.

Lapili’s team made us feel welcome, we immediately felt like at home. The staff is very kind and attentive to the customer’s requests. Breakfast is perfect: sweet and savoury, there is something for everybody! 😋 (They will open a restaurant with an Italian chef so I can’t even think about what delicacies they’ll cook!) The accommodation is very comfortable and super clean! The whole residence is something wonderful, it makes you feel at home and keeps the traditional loca vibes at the same time! The building is beautiful and looked after with care. The pool is the icing on the cake! Furthermore, having the residence's private beach on one of the most beautiful beaches in Zanzibar is no small feat! I can’t wait to go back for a longer stay! Thanks to all the fantastic Lapili staff!

We were really surprised about this new place in kiwengwa, the residence is wonderfull, all staff took care about us, the apartment was bigger than the expatation, the beach just 200 mts far is standing,they have sunbeds and a wonderful terrace on the beach. The bottega is full of nice food , and they told us from 15th august also "la capannina "restaurant will be open...we will come back soon to try it. Our apartment, had a fantastic view on the swimmingpool and gardens....definitely a paradise of freedom. Kitchen is fully equipped. Thanks also to Salomon for our beutiful excursions...he arranged everything for us. See you in december!!!
