Exceptional service by Bayu. Smiling, friendly, helpful young man speaking and understanding English and knowledgeable about BKT as wrll as the outskirts. Thanks to his help and advice, I got to explore what I came to see in this region, the Minangkabau villages. He also helped me book a bus to Padang. He was always ready to answer my questions. A very unique and rare experience for me travelling in Sumatra for one month. I very much appreciate it. The hostel was very clean, bed comfortable, toilets well maintained. For me, this was an exceptional experience.

The reception was friendly. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom could use a scrub, but always smelled fresh. Drinking water and free coffee and tea were provided. It's located very near the main bus terminal, but not that near so you don't get the noise and pollution from it. WiFi is strong throughout the hostel. All in all, it's excellent value for money.

The location is slightly wrong on the map; it's slightly further down the road. It's also not far from a local mosque, which plays a loud call to prayer even in the dead of night, so bring earplugs. No smoking is allowed inside the rooms, but some guests don't respect that rule and the smell of cigarettes can enter your room.

- The location: it’s a long way from the central part of town. - Most rooms don’t have windows. I was lucky and had one, but the street below is very noisy. - The walls are paper thin. - Rooms aren’t super clean, with lots of dust under the bed. - Reception are unable to provide information on transfers to other cities. Was told to Google it. - The man running reception, Bayu, made an inappropriate comment about me not being Muslim. It’s not okay to push your religious views onto others. If you want this to be a Muslim only hotel, state that in your description.

Clean and free tea. Hot showers a luxury.

location was a bit far from the town centre but an easy grab away, close to the bus station though which is handy
