Nous avons choisi cet établissement proche de l'aéroport de Dar Es Salaam. C'était vraiment super. Brown (le patron) est venu nous chercher à l'aéroport à 3h30 du matin, la chambre était très propre, le jardin très joli et le petit déjeuner vraiment somptueux. C'est en fait comme une maison d'hôtes. Brown est quelqu'un de vraiment très sympathique, qui par la suite nous a aidé pour tout notre séjour en Tanzanie. Il nous a loué sa voiture pour faire ce que nous voulions, c'est à dire aller en voiture à Selous River Park puis de là à Nyamisati prendre le ferry pour Mafia Island. Il est venu nous chercher à l'aéroport au retour de Mafia pour faire un tour de Dar Es Salaam et nous permettre de nous reposer avant notre avion de retour qui était à 4h00 du matin. Bref, je ne saurais trop recommander cet établissement.

I rarely write reviews - I had to for this property. A wonderful place - incredibly friendly owner, lovely family feel to the place, professional, clean, and amazing food. Immediately made to feel welcome and relaxed - not intrusive, just excellent service and a warm vibe.

I liked everything. Wonderful and helpful host. Great staff. Perfect stay. The city tour with Mr. Brown was outstanding. Madame Grace in the kitchen made my meals something to remember. I would like to stray there again.

The breakfast was amazing, Brown really made an effort from the beginning regarding food for my family and I. We had special requests and he happily accommodated them. Dinner was a surprise each evening of traditional satisfying food. All the staff were amazing and attentive and the value for money was incredible. I'm really glad that my first place of stay in Tanzania was a positive experience thanks to Brown.

BabaJ ist eine so kurze wie gute verbale Umsetzung des Unterkunftskonzeptes, um das es dort wirklich geht: Im Zentrum dessen steht Woodie, ein fülliger, gemütlicher und humorvoller Self-Made-Gastgeber der angenehmsten Sorte: Hat das Flugzeug in der Nacht 2 Stunden Verspätung, hakuna matata, kein Problem, er holt dich ab und freut sich wieder einen Gast zu haben. In der Pandemie hat er seinen etwa 30 Fahrminuten vom Flughafen gelegenen Bauernhof mit zwei modernen Gästehäusern erweitert, gut ausgestattet und mit eigens installierter „Lightshow“. Man kann dort ein Abendessen für ein paar Dollar haben, das von seiner Haushälterin zubereitet, mit afrikanischen Spezialitäten so wenig geizt, dass sich der Tisch darunter biegt. Gegessen wird in deren Wohnzimmer zwischen Fernseher und Aquarium. Warum nicht!

In unmittelbarer Umgebung des Hofes befinden sich 3(!) Moscheen, die bereits früh um 04:30 je auf individuelle Weise lautstark die Botschaften des Korans verkünden. Hier helfen nur ein tiefer Schlaf oder Ohrstöpsel (auch gut gehen gackernde Hühner auf dem Fensterbrett!) Ein Kuriosum, dass der Hof von Woodie, besonders für Deutsche unvorstellbar, keine postalische Adresse besitzt und eine Fahrt mit dem Taxi zurück dorthin dann , auch nach telephonischer Wegführung durch Woodie, schon mal etwas länger dauert. Aber alles hakuna matata, kein Problem!

Die freundliche, sehr unterstützte und hilfreiche Art vom Gastgeber. Die Lage ist auch super, wenn man in der Nähe vom Flughafen sein will. Die Zimmer sind super ausgestattet, sauber, das Frühstück war lecker und der Gastgeber und Team so freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir empfehlen die Unterkunft auf jeden Fall weiter und würden jeder Zeit wieder dort übernachten.

Wir haben nicht auszusetzen. Der Gastgeber hat uns zuvorkommend willkommen geheissen und wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt.

Near the airport. Great dinner and breakfast (the best ones in our Tanzania-Zanzibar trip) at a cheap price. The place is relaxing and beautiful. We slept very good. Personnel is really nice, we felt safe and welcomed. I totally recommend it.

We really enjoyed staying at Baba Jay Family Home. Brown was so hospitable and attentive. The accommodation is very clean, it is sprayed for mosquitoes, and the rooms are very spacious. I would recommend paying for the breakfast there as it is so fresh and high quality, and you get loads! Brown also provided dinner suggestions from deliveries for pizza, local cuisine, or dinner at the accommodation. If we are in Dar Es Salaam, we will book here again.

Brown is an awesome host. His team is very nice and the cook is wonderful and the food amazing. I've had the best meals and breakfast in Tanzania! Located very closely to the airport The room is very spacious, clean and nice Day tour of Dar Es Salam done with Brown and was wonderful! The breakfast was really good. Hosts were so kind and helpful with everything. They've put everything in place to make you feel at home. It's a shame I couldn't stay longer, but I'd recommend it to anyone!

Baba Jay gave his best, which compensated for much. great place if the airport is your focus. the rooms are pretty good and bed is comfortable. My room had no hot water but was doable. I had missed seeing that when booking. I would go back.

When I stayed it was a bit cold due to the lack of "windows". the entire place was in a remodeling spree so I can't judge too much. A nearby fanatic church leader was loudspeaking at 5:30 to find his congregation and from 7 am onwards it was loud all over.

It’s a nice place good for when you need to catch a flight early in the morning or are landing late at night. But what elevates the experience and makes this a 10/10 recommendation is the family that manages this property. They go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. BabyJay aka Mr. Brown is a gem of an individual who helps you just like you are part of the family. I needed money urgently to pay for a pizza we ordered late at night and he helped me out. Needed a drop off at the airport last minute and he didn’t hesitate to do it one bit. Also the breakfast they provide is very tasty and filling, I’d highly recommend paying a little extra and getting it you’ll not regret (kudos to Mrs. Brown for the great breakfast)

No hot water, WiFi connectivity was weak, but these are just minor quibbles nothing that should stop you from renting the place.

Mr. Brown picked us up at the airport. He made us feel very welcome. The breakfast was great. His wife made us pumpkin soup. Thank you very much for staying with you!

Location wasn’t as expected. No hot water, lots of mosquitoes and despite request we didn’t get repellants. No hot water, no hangers to hang clothes etc.

What makes BabaJay's home is its owner, Brown. He is an exceptional host. Real African hospitality. Nothing is too much trouble. Rooms very clean and well equipped. Charming garden with swing chair. Right in the heart of village life with churches and mosques all around. Delicious food. And Erick was a wonderful driver who fetched us from the ferry and took us to the train, battling Dar traffic with aplomb! The house is well situated for airport travel as well.
