We booked on our way home from North Carolina. I couldnt have asked for a more beautiful location to visit. The proximity to the ocean was what urged me to book this hotel, however the view in person was more incredible. The staff was so kind, the room so clean and comfortable. It was perfect for our anniversary weekend. Even though it was "out of season", there was still enough to do and places to eat close by. The balcony view was everything I needed. I sat outside for hours just taking it all in.

I relayed a message that I would check in late AND have a room close to my sister who checked in early with Gabe at the front desk. Upon my arrival, Latoya quoted policy to me. My reservation had been canceled and there was no hold for the room near my friend. There was an $80 difference in price if I went through the hotel so I opted to reuse Hotels.com.
The following day I discussed the reimbursement with Julia. She assured me that Doubletree did not charge for initial reservation and 3rd party should reimburse me.
Upon checkout, I notice that the hold for incidentals remains on my card in addition to both reservation charges. Amberley apologies for Latoya and Gabe, but ssures me that Julia is thorough and matter would be resolved. As of this review (48 hours after checkout), it has not.

There is no central A/C which means the individual room A/C unit wakes you up every 30 minutes when it goes off and when it turns on again. I got no sleep the one night I stayed there.

Parking fee was not disclosed at time of booking. The parking garage has no elevator, so if you have to park on the top floor and have bad knees, it is not a good time. The hotel and room were clean, but basic maintenance is not being done to keep up with usage. Some examples; grouting/caulking the shower area, rusty hinges on bathroom door, chipped paint, broken drywall edge over door to the balcony. The WiFi was nonexistent and no code was provided at check in. Before showering the second morning we had to seek someone out to get towels, which would have been a non-issue if more time was taken at check in to explain housekeeping would not be freshening up our room, even with a 3 night stay. Young lady at checkout said they would refund our parking fee, but I have yet to receive the email receipt to verify this happened.

The location, the lobby and the restaurant were great, so was the front desk staff. The room needed some renovation: wonky drawers in the dresser, small stains on one armchair, glitching signal on the TV, old caulk in the corner of the shower, leaky soap dispensers in the shower that formed a pool of soap on the shower floor every morning. The most unpleasant part was that our room did not get cleaned one day, so every day we stopped at the front desk to ask for a room cleaning. I assumed this was the default in a hotel.

We had a wonderful time, the accommodations were comfy. The only major change I would make is to dim the lights & save energy in the halls & lobby of the public areas. The lights are too bright & glairy, after the sun goes down.

Love the location. The housekeeping staff was amazing. We interacted with 3 or 4 front desk staff and only one was friendly. The rest were rude and unwelcoming.

We booked a room with “double” beds. Be warned that these are full size mattresses and the room has no sleeper sofa. The rooms are very small but the decor is modern and there is a lot of storage space. The balcony was very nice. The person that checked us in was not, he seemed like we were bothering him. I think you have to pay for the WiFi, if not it is just very difficult to connect to. I would not stay here again but for no other reason than the room was just too small for my family. The hallways were hot & you need to use your room key to operate the elevator.

My family and I enjoyed our stay. Great beachfront location with balcony overlooking the boardwalk. Room was clean and comfortable. Customer service was great friendly accommodating staff. We would definitely return.
Our only disappointment was the pool was out of service during our stay.

No parking included, no beach towels. They do not want to clean your room unless you ask and when you do they take their time. Looks like the hotel was run down with a sub par renovation. When it rains, they shut down their beach access. Imagine walking from the rain to find out the only access is closed and now you have to walk from the front. I was not impressed.

Mahi’s is a great restaurant that is located in the hotel, and one locals enjoy. The hotel is located next to Chix on the Beach bar if you are wanting to go hang out after hours, which gets the music pumping. The hotel has many of the “basic” amenities you come to expect on3 star and higher hotels, but the AC system was struggling on our floor and in the elevators, making you think you were in a sauna of sorts. I told the front desk but as of the morning, nothing really changed. So hopefully they get that fixed. Otherwise sold choice for oceanfront view.

The hotel was nicely decorated and the location was excellent! But the hotel was lacking in customer service and in the room all of the toiletries were empty. The beds were not comfortable and we all had difficulty sleeping. Customer service was not good either. Overall, I would recommend trying to find another option. A solid 3 stars for me.

The hotel was clean and recently updated. The staff were pleasant and helpful, especially the parking attendants and the housekeeping staff. The beach at this location was both relaxing (less crowded) and fun (volleyball nets!) and there were a variety of dining options within walking distance to the hotel. The indoor pool was closed for maintenance during our stay for one day and when it reopened, the water wasn't as clean as it could have been. Otherwise, it was an enjoyable stay.

We paid a little more this time on our three night stay away from the hustle and bustle of our everyday life. We wanted an ocean view and the extra expense was worth every penny!! Just to wake up every morning a little before dawn and be able to sit on the balcony and hear and feel the quiet, gentle breeze of the ocean waves was absolutely amazing and breathtaking!! The Doubletree hotel is on the south end of Virginia Beach and away from the crowd which made it even more the right choice for an ocean view. We also dined at the Mahi Restaurant adjacent to the hotel and the food was was plenteous and very delicious!

Place was great right from the start, Easy to check in. Valet park parking was great. Place was clean and staff was very helpful. Restaurant attached to Hotel was great, Had a BLT and egg sandwich for breakfast that was phenomenal.

I stayed 5 days four night, & I had a balcony view room, the balcony & view were nice. However, not all of the staff were friendly, & for the price there was no complementary breakfast. Overall, the view was the only nice part of this hotel. For the price there are tons of other hotels in the area, that provide more amenities, & seem more affordable.

My major gripe with this hotel was in their maintenance department. I stayed for five nights and despite multiple complaints I was never able to take a hot shower (the water at best came out warm) or use hot water in the sink (at best the sink water temperature was not cold).

Property should not be listed as a 4star hotel. Cleanliness, amenities, and accessibility to and from the beach are not of good quality. Hotel has a pest infestation. There is hardly any hot water to speak of. Bathroom had mold in the caulking. Ac unit in the room was struggling to keep 75. (Altho, understandable after a week of heat waves). All in all, not a 4star experience as advertised. Will not visit for that insane amount of money again.

This property has a serious bug issue. In the middle of the night, my family and I had to be placed in another room due to the fact of bugs. Highly disappointed. After, seeing those bugs I couldn't sleep. I was so tired the next day that I couldn't enjoy my family trip.

Excellent hotel. Very nice room, easy walking distance to beach, shops and local restaurants. Nice covered parking garage is available or you can choose valet. Highly recommend staying here. Friendly staff, concierge on site and very nice restaurant as well.
