Use to stay at Howard Johnson’s when I was a kid so we gave it a shot !!! The people were so nice the food was amazing at the restaurant inside the hotel!

Trip was a day trip to Caverns. Stayed at Stevens and only one disappointment was the breakfast, because there wasn't much too it and staff looked as if up all night.
Other than that, the Young man at desk was more than helpful, with sharing local activities and places.
Room very clean and accessible. The evening bar, featured a DJ, which was nice.
Overall, good experience but was really surprised on morning buffet. No pastries, oatmeals, yogurt, fruit.

STAYED HERE 8 YEARS AGO AND IT WAS NICE...NOT SURE IF WYNDHAM OWNED IT THEN..KILLED ONE ROACH IN THE BATHROOM AND 2 OUTSIDE THE ROOM DOOR ON PATIO. BED BUGS (SEE PHOTO). WHEN WE CHECKED OUT THE NEXT MORNING, I SHOWED THE CLERK THE DEAD ROACH IN A BOTTLE AND HE SAID "SORRY ABOUT THAT, BUT WE DID HAVE SOME RAIN LATELY. OTHER THAN THAT, HOW WAS YOUR STAY?" NO OFFER TO COMPENSATE AT ALL. TOLD HIM TO JUST GIVE ME MY RECEIPT SO I COULD LEAVE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. WILL NOT STAY AT THIS PROPERTY AGAIN

The property was poorly maintained. My family & myself had to change rooms twice. First room only had hot water, no cold water functioning in the tub. The second room change, the wall air conditioning unit was stuck / frozen. Room temperature was an uncomfortable 76 degrees. As it was the temperature outside was already extremely hot. Be aware that there is an additional $25 hold added to your reservation for room service or other incurred expenses. Will never stay here again! The property does not look like how it is advertised online!

Rooms are old . Shampoo and lotion were horrible . towels need to be replaced . pool was filthy .

The night staff that checked me in for an extremely late check in was so kind and got us checked in so promptly ( he could tell we were tired) He was informative and inviting. Breakfast staff was a little less friendly but they were attentive to what seemed like regulars. Some inappropriate jokes from the kitchen my daughters were embarrassed over hearing. The room itself was comfortable and quiet. Overall I’d say it was a great stay.

I stayed one night and was charged almost $600 for a one night Stay. Apparently, I made the reservations through Hotel.com and someway, Expedia took the reservation and I got double charged for one night stay the hotel said that they would reimburse the money but that it may be a problem on Hotel.com‘s part and for me to get a hold of you because you apparently booked me and Expedia booked me in charged me double I want this problem taken care of immediately please before I wind up, reporting it to the Better Business Bureau thank you for your attention to this matter

Nice stay! Very clean room but the drain in our shower was a little slow as was the toilet flushing. Good gym and pool, could use some shade spots at the pool. Very dog friendly and the staff were great from check in to check out. We would stay again, family of 4 with dogs

We visit very often. We like thee we room close to the pool. We also like that there’s a bar on the property along with a full restaurant. The free breakfast needs improvement.

Overall, the beds were nice. However, there were several things that were wrong with the property. Yes, it’s an older property, but still needs definitely updating. Huge amount of sulfur smell coming from the bathroom and there was hot water in the actual toilet tank. The phone in the room did not work neither did the fridge. And then the staff incorrectly charged me after I had already paid for it.

There was a sign showing ‘Be back in 10 minutes’ at the front desk. However, people were waiting over 30 minutes before an employee showed up to assist the customers.

We did not even end up using this room. The location was terrible. There were dogs all over the place running in and out of open hotel room doors. Very sketchy for a family with young kids.

Overall, we were pleased with the advantage of driving up to our room & unloading our luggage with no problem.

After the first person showered, the water was standing in the tub. We went to breakfast and advised the staff. Came back from breakfast and maintenance was just arriving. Waited for half an hour as they tried to snake the drain. Finally had to ask them to leave and let me take a shower in standing water as we had a funeral to attend.

The room was aged, but clean and comfortable. The first room i was assigned had a malfunctioning a.c. I spoke to the front desk and had a new room assignment with zero hassle, the clerk was curteous and quick to relocate me.

I really liked the stay here. Everything you need they can give you! Really liked the. Breakfast, it was a buffet. Would stay here again and recommend it to other people. They’re really attentive and helpful. Thank you to the staff for helping us😊

Outdated but clean. The key wouldn't open the door and I had to walk across the parking lot twice late at night. The 3rd time they gave us a different room with a different key and it worked. Front desk staff was very pleasant. When I went back for the 2nd time I was very aggravated because it was late at night and have been driving all day, and told them I wasn't walking to the desk again. The lady was very understanding and promised to take care of things. Breakfast was good and the attendants were very nice.

Honestly it was better than what I was expecting and wouldn't count it out for another stay while in Carlsbad. I didnt catch the lady's name upfront that checked me in but she was very friendly and professional.

Front desk was great. Room was big and bed was comfortable. The bad thing is ac was off when i got to room. I figured they trying to save energy ok. I was tired turned on unit to 70 room was 82 degrees. Took almost 3 hrs to fully cool. Slept woke up to a 76 degree room. Idk if id stay here again.

Good place to stay. Dinner was wonderful. Hot water was HOT but inconsistent in the shower. The bathroom fan smelled like smoke in a non-smoking room, which was disappointing and surprising. AC provided white noise but kept the room cool on a 100 degree day.

Great for construction workers, which there were alot of, but not a comfortable room for vacation travelers. Room needed updating. Toilet water ran constantly, pipes in sink made loud noise and should be addressed. Staff was the worst in our 12 days of travel. Breakfast staff were out smoking while guesses were looking for silverware to eat there breakfast. Dinner waitress was talking with locals while guess were waiting for their order to be placed. Never again will we stay there.
