I’ve stayed at this hotel several times prior to this particular stay and haven’t had any issues. However, this stay made me never want to book a room here again. First, the room was filled with fruit flies. Second, the carpet was so dirty it would turn the soles of your feet black if you walked barefoot. Lastly, there were mystery stains all over the walls and furniture. Also, the bed didn’t have a headboard but instead had 2 foam pieces.

The pool was closed, our carpet was sticky and filthy. Someone entered our room while we were out. There were dirty men’s footprints all over the bathroom that weren’t there before we left for the evening. We left at 1am due to the overall nastiness and rude staff.

dirty room and bad odor. no hot water. i had to call back for a folio as the system was down when i checked out; the employee who assisted me on the phone not only barked at me but also was not much help. i typically don't write bad reviews as mostly there is only a small thing that might be troublesome. DON'T stay at this hotel

We just stayed at this hotel the past weekend. I booked it specifically for the restaurant and breakfast option to help with our schedule. False advertising! No bar, no restaurant, dry cereal as the “breakfast”, the pool was closed, no maid service. Ug! It was a busy weekend in Birmingham so we paid like $140 per night. It was complete robbery.

Appreciated the early check in. Nice size for one person. Found the carpet was unclean. On the left side of bed on the floor was the biggest dust bunny I have ever seen in my life.

The hotel is going through a remodel and it appears that no one is cleaning. The elevator hallway floors and room floors are filthy. I did not dare put my bare feet on the floor. The first room they put me in smelled, like cigarette smoke. I asked to be moved to another room and that room smelled sour snd musty. The bathroom was not cleaned and the little shampoos and lotions had been used and not replaced, leaving them half full on the sink. The continental breakfast left much to be desired. Do better, Sonesta.

Check in was fast and easy . The parking lot was littered w/ shipping crates but didn’t see any renovations occurring . Pool was closed for maintenance the 4 days we were there w/o any visible maintenance happening. The halls were dirty w/ scraps of debris etc , a splatt of something on the elevator floor was there for a couple days , ice machine on our floor wasn’t working .never saw any housekeeping. This appears to be a family owned hotel . Feel like they really need to invest more in staffing and the hotel itself

I stay at the sonesta colonade in birmingham ala. Before i booked the room i noticed it had nice indoor pool area, restaurant with what looked like gourmet dining plus a bar. So i booked it. I arrived there and the pool was closed to maintenance, it had no restaurant nor bar. The breakfast was oatmeal cereal yogart toast you make yourself orange juice milk and coffee. No eggs, waffles or meat. The shower rod failed down just by touching a towel. The maintenance guy came and fixed with no problem. The front desk was friendly.

Staff not very friendly and only 1 elevator worked.

Everything was off the room they didn’t give me what I paid for I ended up with a two queen no balcony it was dirty the ice machine was broken just wasn’t what I expected

We have stayed st this hotel for 3 years. We have always had a great experience except this time. Upon arrival we were given a dirty room with towels in shower and food containers in the room. I went down and.asked for another room. The new room all outlets at bedside didnt work and we are cpap users. We made it work though. We didnt sleep much first night as the beds were uncomfortable and hurt our backs and body. We got up to have breakfast and it wasnt a hot food breakfast it was cereal breakfast with yogurt and fruit only. We stayed two night so when we got back very late that night midnight our cards stopped working and we had to get the cards redone. I am unsure what has happened with this place. I think it changed hands. They had sea crates all over the parking lot so parking was limited. We unfortunately will not be back to this site. The 4th time was the last time. I hate that because we love the area.

stains on Bed, couch, & telephone. long hairs on "clean" towels. Dirty light switches. Pool & gym closed but there was no communication that amenities were unavailable. Elevator very dirty & banged up. I checked out ten min after check in.

The third floor has unbearable bd smell, carpet is very dingy and my room had a curtain covered in mildew in front of the dir conditioner tht stunk up the room until I moved it nd cracked the window

Got it for a great rate making it better then it was there vwas going through construction but I would choose this place at the discounted rate

Good value, would prefer firmer bed but otherwise good.

Serviceable as the Sonesta Select are. 7/10 for value.

Easy to find. Our room did have a wasps nest on the balcony, a dirty stain on the left side under the mattress. They also had our peephole blocked with paper. So that kinda scared us. Pool was also closed to maintenance unfortunately.

Wasn’t satisfied with our room at all

The pool was out of service, ice machine broken, no bar or restaurant on site as advertised. Elevator was dirty. Room and hallways smelled like cigarettes. Wall AC is under a shelf/cabinet- no air flow. Shower was broken and had low water pressure. TV was messed up. Sheets and pillow cases had an odd odor.

The hotel was advertised as having a pool and a lobby bar. When i got there they had no bar and the pool was closed. Those were the 2 reasons i booked the hotel.

This hotel shouldn’t be booking rooms. After we checked in we got a note under our door saying we wouldn’t have access to water the next day from 8:00am-3:00pm. They knowingly let us check in and did nothing to compensate us for the inconvenience. Water is a necessity and essential. The outlets in the room also don’t didn’t work and both the pool and gym were under maintenance.

It was very chaotic checking in. A lot of workers upfront and they all seemed confused. Once I got my check in a worker took me to my room to check my remote and made me very uncomfortable and it was just strange. Beside that it was a fine hotel. No pool.

Rooms smelled like smoke and didn’t look like they had been cleaned recently.

The place was clean. Also, the pool, the workout room, an elevator, 2 out of 3 ice machines, the bar, the curtain Rod, and several lights were broken or out of order during my stay. It was odd. So much was broken. I had one towel for my three days there. No one came into the room to do the daily cleanings. The breakfast was cereal with no milk.
