Elevators controls are frustrating and in poor condition. Had to repeatedly get my key card re-set

Staff is great. Location is great. Facilities are great.

Small pool and small exercise room but great breakfast choices

The executive lounge wasn’t good at all. Though we got the executive suite but we had no balcony with our room. The executive lounge would only have tea at the executive lounge. I have traveled around the world and usually executive lounges have some pastries or snacks round the clock for the guests. But this one only had tea and coffee nothing else so no use of paying extra for the executive lounge access. Though we reached almost an hour after checkin time but our room wasn’t ready and we were made to wait 3 hours for our room to be handed over since they only started cleaning and preparing our room once we got there.

Staff was very nice and helpful. Room had a musty moldy smell to. I did try to get a different room but it was not available. Not worth the $900 for two nights. Breakfast was not very good, especially for $23 a person.

Well placed, directly opposite Copacabana beach and the price reflects this rather than the hotel quality. Having said that it was a comfortable hotel. The room was fine, nothing spectacular but comfortable and clean with a beach view. Breakfast was a good buffet. Staff were friendly and helpful. We were a bit disappointed with the length of our check in, it needed a call to housekeeping to check the room was ready even though we arrived at 17.20. It took nearly half an hour for them to respond and when we reached the room there was only one robe and one set of slippers. The body lotion bottle was so clogged we had to wash it out to get it working. The turn down service offered did not happen for two out of three nights. A number of small points like this were disappointing but bearing in mind the location of the hotel the price is good, the staff are good and the room comfortable.

For a JW, you wouldn't think the place would be in such bad condition. The pool area alone had so much chipping and falling off paint and structural defects. Rooms were basic and stuffy. No balconies here so don't spend $ on an ocean view. I stayed next door one night at the Windsor Califironia and it was far better. As a Marriott Bonvoy member for decades this one sucks.

3 days in the Marriott at Copacabana were great for me. Clean room, friendly people and good food.

Rooms could do with updating. Noise from the lobby can be heard from the rooms. Staff were excellent and service was great. The location is also great.

Amazing location, very comfortable rooms and really amazing, friendly and professional staff! Wasn’t even aware when i booked that there was a chair and towel service right across in Copacabana beach. Amazing views from rooftop and since it was winter and a bit chilly the heated outdoor pool was excellent. Highly recommended.

First I have to say that I would definitely stay here again. I had a wonderful stay and all the staff was incredibly nice and helpful. That being said, I have to say I do agree with other reviewers regarding the age of the hotel It does feel old and dated. A refresh is much needed. Although the staff is amazing, because of its age, it does not feel like a JW Marriott. And I would like to recommend, that if possible, stay in an ocean view room. I stayed in one the "inside" view rooms and it does feel a little claustrophobic and dark... The view is to other rooms and the hallways. And no natural light comes in... The Rooftop needs a little love and tenderness, but it is a very nice place to take in the view of Copacabana and have a drink at the end of the day. I really enjoyed being beachfront.

Fairmont is much much better hotle with similar price point!

The carpets in the room are in need of steam cleaning😲 The towels are severely worn and in need of replacement😬 When a customer arrives from a intl flt✈️ please don't nickel and dime 💵 them when rooms are available by charging early check in fees😡 The customer pays you $250-$350 per night for a stay😎

The hotel is quite old, the room where I live had only a view inside the hotel hall. The room requires repairing.

Great stay at the JW Marriot Rio. It was my fiancés birthday and they did everything to accommodate us and make the weekend special. Loved the pool bar upstairs and great location. Will definitely come back!

Excellent location right on the Copacabana Beach. Hotel staff were super helpful. Hotel was beautiful.

The staff were all well trained and accommodating...as well as conversant in English. WARNING: DO NOT USE THE ATM IN THE HOTEL. The conversion rate is criminal and the hotel should be ashamed to have a vendor that abuses their guests so badly.

Hotel was kept to a hivh standard and all staff were friendly and helpful.
