The owner was so friendly and accommodating! We needed to leave a day early due to storms headed our way and he was happy to refund us our last night. All staff was friendly and brought us towels daily! The front office has everything you need should you run short, and a kiosk in case you lock yourself out of your room and need a new room key (my husband found that useful when he locked himself out in the middle of the night). Overall a wonderful stay and right on the beach and next door to the fishing pier (which has 2 restaurants on it).

It was nice that it was right on the ocean. people with pets should only be in a separate designated area. Dogs left in room alone next to ours barked nonstop, along with yelling and pounding noises of their owners caused us to leave a day sooner than planned and paid for.

The property was very old and not updated but it was very clean. This does not refer to the property but our stay was not pleasant due to other renters being VERY loud outside at a late hour!

The stay for the money was good. Bathroom was very small, no dressing mirror, no hand held shower fixture, so ladies bring a shower cap if you don’t want to wash your hair everyday! Parking was bad.

The beach is right there, making it easy to be back and forth from beach to your room. The beach is amazing and there is lots of food and shopping options close by. The room is small but clean. Parking lot is small but not to bad. It would be nice if they would clean the rooms, they drop off fresh towels every day but don’t come in to clean or change sheets. Over all it would be hard to beat for the price.

Horrible remodel

Used covid as an excuse not to service our room everyday , floors are filty, horrible remodeling

The Colonial Inn is an older hote,l but it was clean. The office worker was very polite a our check-in/out. Employees were always busy cleaning and working on the grounds. No one came into the room to change towels, however, everyday there werecfresh towels outside your door in a bag. The room was without carpet which was very nice since the hotel had steps that led to the beach, which was great. Our room was supplied with a broom and dustpan so the sand from beach could be swept. Even though it was an older hotel, I would stay again.

I am glad I was solo because I'd been embarrassed to show anyone else what I had reserved. It is very old and very basic. The walls are paper thin. I could almost hear people breathing, that's how thin the walls were. It is dog friendly, so you can hear them bark from inside your room.

I loved my stay, it was pet friendly, great beach access and the price was very good. Also the rooms were equipped vey nice with towels, coffee, etc. I would highly recommend this motel especially if they are running on a tight budget. I also have decided that my wife and I will make this a yearly vacation spot. And I couldn’t think of any other place I’d rather stay. Thanks Colonial.

Easy access to the beach.

Overall our room was clean and the location next to the pier was great! Unfortunately our room had an old basement smell, very musty and a slight mildew odor. Not sure if there is water damage somewhere or if it's the property age. It wasn't terrible but if you're allergy sensitive Colonial Inn may not be for you!

We had a fantastic stay at the Colonial Inn! We also highly recomend their other property, The Heart of Manteo, which we also frequent. 😃

On the beach. Walkable to Lucky 12, ice cream place. Very clean.

Our original room was in pretty sad shape. The staff was very accommodating and moved us to a different, nicer room. Beds are comfortable but wouldn’t plan to sleep on any of the pull out couches.

Very cute motel, large rooms and comfortable(plenty of towels). It's older but was clean and right on the beach. (pet friendly for a fee $25/dog). The staff was very kind and accompanying to our needs and we even got to check in a bit early. Enjoyed the beautiful sunrise and enjoyed the trip.

For what my husband and I needed, this place was perfect for us. It was very small, and is an older establishment but the room was clean and just right for us. The price was awesome! 👍

Wonderful stay! Would definitely stay here again!

The location of this hotel is great. You’re really just paying to be walking distance to the beach because the rooms are not worth the price.The condition of the property is poor but being so close to the beach it’s probably difficult to maintain. We had a two bedroom apartment but the wall separating the two rooms was extremely thin. I specifically asked for a quiet room and was given the opposite. Our bedrooms in room 122 overlooked the street and dumpsters. The garbage trucks dumped the dumpsters every other day at 4:45am and was horribly loud. That room is also by the stairs and pool so people we had to keep the curtains closed at all times. Think John Candy’s house in “Summer Rental”. The bathroom needed a deep cleaning and the whole property felt dingy. I did not complain to the front office because we were all settled in and nobody wanted to ask to move. We had plenty of towels, the refrigerator is huge and has a nice big freezer. The pool was great and the location is fantastic. We chose this property for the price, the two bedrooms, and it being dog friendly. Even though there is a lot of foot traffic with the pier next door I never felt unsafe even when taking the dog out alone after dark.

Enjoyed the proximity to the beach. Couldn't get one of the TVs to turn on but there were 2 others so it was okay. Appreciated that there were box fans in the bedrooms since ac unit was in living room and didn't really reach into bedrooms very well.

Deplorable conditions of hotel, outlets didn’t work, no smoke alarm just bare wires hanging, floor was disgusting and soft and squishy, walls were cracked and squishy. Sewer flies on the walls in the bathroom, windows were filled with inch thick dirt. Crickets cough between window and screen…..just don’t stay there, the building should be condemned…oh and it smelled like must moldy yuck!

Room did not look like the pictures. Walls separating at seams and the ceiling. AC united rusty and dirty. Room musky smelling. Left second day for another hotel. Manager didn't even ask way just took key and said "bye" Don't waste money on ocean front. There is no view.

Convenient location right on the beach, and an easy walk to many Nags Head locations. Nothing fancy, but that’s not what you come here for. This place delivers on what they should; a good and clean room, working shower at the beach access, and a nice pool for off the red flags are out. If you’re looking for a nice spot right on the water, and one that doesn’t cost a fortune, this is it.

Not our first stay here, we come back because it's perfect for our needs. Friendly staff & clean rooms & a short walk to the beach.
