The rooms were amazing looking in pictures online but not that nice in reality.

It was fine. Room a little small for 4, the poor had loads of insects, it just felt a little run-down.

Good points: comfortable bed, large shower, breakfast included. Not-so-good points: shoddy furniture and surroundings, room very small, only one teaspoon and no way to wash up cups and glasses, dining facilities quite poor.

Helpful with check-in and questions. Breakfast was very good. No AC only a fan. Opened door to balcony to blow in cooler air. Got bitten by bugs. No screens on door or windows to keep bugs out.

Property is looking very “Tired”. Bathroom layout terrible.

Good and quiet location. The facility itself is aging and out of date, our room is downstairs and smells old and dampness, the bathroom don’t have space to put your Toiletrie. The small Air con is not making cool airs, guess it’s just a heater looks like air con, they do have a free standing fan provided, but just not enough for a summer night, we downstairs can’t open windows for safety reasons at night make this worse. We paid 240 for a night during the busy new year eve period, not worth it. The staff is friendly though.

The Settler’s Discovery Motel was a fantastic stay. The room was great, wonderful service with friendly staff, and great food. It was also a short walk to the Whangārei waterfront, and all the fabulous restaurants and cafes. I highly recommend this motel, and would stay again in a heartbeat.

We were a late arrival and the staff had turned the heater on in the room, very thoughtful.

Hotel is quite dated, but has been well preserved!! It is kept up very well. The restaurant is very nice with reasonable pricing and a fair amount of selections. The morning was missing eggs during my stay. That is a staple for me. So I chose not to spend the buffet price for mostly things I preferred it to have. Would be nice to see the hotel incest in some upgrades to keep it self appealing. An enclosed/ heated pool would be wonderful. Also more entertainment /media choices for the rooms. Providing hdmi inputs or airplay devices for those bringing their own media to link into the hotels tv’s would also be nice. These type things would take the then quality of stay up another level. Not a bad stay at all, but could easily take it to the next level. FYI: the pricing was great!!

When i arrived there the toilet bowl had not been cleaned.

I liked the price, cleanliness and area. I didn’t like the noise from people outside room during night. Heating not set up.

Convenient to town, friendly staff, very clean and comfortable bed

We were surprised at the size of the room (small) for the price, suited our purposes being a bed for the night.

Very convenient base for one or two nights. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Hotel was mostly in good condition but showing a few signs of wear and tear.

Booked an 'Executive suite', which kept us amused during our stay...'Executive suite' has a balcony.....The balcony is shared with multiple rooms and overlooked a piece of grass and the main road. Two chairs, no table....no air conditioning but a loud fan if you want it...the upstairs room is accessed by a concrete stairwell (no lift)....On a plus note the staff were very friendly and it was a 10 minute walk to the 'Basin where there are some excellent restaurants...Poor nights sleep as a lot of road noise coupled with no double glazing....Room was clean. Didn't use the pool or food facilities but they where there if you wanted them.

The room was more than adequate for a night. Clean and comfortable. Unfortunately it’s a bit dated and the bathroom is very narrow and small but as I say for a night it did the job.

Easy place to find with good parking. Good reception service and everything was nice & clean.

For the price I paid for one night it definitely was not worth the value. Receptionist was great, helpful & friendly. Bedspread had stains on it & no cutlery in room only teaspoons. Tv remote not working properly either.

Not a great stay. Room had no air conditioning so was hot. It had broken outlets near the bed. Broken light fixture above the bed which caused a light to flash incessantly. Quite a poor experience overall. Will not be returning in the future

Very pleasant surroundings, but on a very busy road. No where to hang things on in bathroom and needs more vanity space there also. Apart from that the room was absolutely fine.

Great sevice. Lovely room .Beautiful Trees surrounding property and great breakfast. Thankyou we will come again!
