Chose this hotel as a 2 room suite while traveling with my wife & mom. It was completely acceptable if a little quirky. odd room layout and stairs in odd places (getting to the bathroom in the middle of the night was ok, but down a long haul and up stairs). Staff was skeleton, but we knew this going in. Not unhappy with value for the money. Just be aware of the quirks going in.

The space was not very clean - the carpet was very stained and damage was visible throughout the apartment. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms were clean and well equipped. We also had to sit and wait for instructions to be emailed to us even beyond the check in time, even though the property was clean and ready for us to use. There is no luggage storage onsite, and the recommended option for storage is all the way across town, which is really inconvenient.

My biggest issue with the stay is that we reserved a 2 bedroom suite with 1 king bed in the first room and 2 single beds in the second room. The room we got had 1 kind bed, 1 single bed and a sofa sleeper in the common room. This basically forced us into not having a functional common room. The hotels.com website CLEARLY lists this property has having 2 bedrooms / 1 king and 2 single beds in each room. This is the primary reason we booked at De Jonker and were very disappointed to not have the option we paid for. The onsite person said this configuration does not exist.
The other issue we had is the lack of ability to store our luggage while we waited for check in. It cost us an additonal 25 euro to taxi from the 'sister property' where we were able to store our bags. It was time consuming, costly and very inconvenient. Thankfully, I checked with the properly first to see what the check in process would be, otherwise it would have been twice as expensive and time consuming.

Really good value for a two bedroom suite in an excellent location by Artis Zoo. Rooms were cosy and comfortable with a small kitchenette and sitting area. Would stay again!

Suite was great for a group of friends. Good brunch places nearby. Easy qr code system

Love the unique hotel. Our stay there was wonderful. We will definitely come back.

Only stayed one night. Property suited us for this purpose.

A good location, close to the central train station, but also various tourist attractions. The unit we had could have used a re-carpeting, the floor was not the cleanest. Also, the bathroom sink was stuffed and, despite my best efforts to explain they need to use a plunger, the sink continued to be stuffed the whole time we were there. Otherwise the hosts were friendly and tried to provide things like towels and take the trash out. With some little improvements here and there, this can be a really good place to stay while in Amsterdam.

Great trip with a good set up for four people but the cleanliness is the main thing that lets it down. Lots of cobwebs that are easily reachable, dead flies on the windowsill and greasy marks on the wall, stained toilet and shower smelt like wet dog.
It’s in a great location with lots of wonderful restaurants close by, tram stop very close but in a quiet area.
Staff are super helpful.

Although the Deluxe Suite was extremely big, a lot of wear and tear is already visible on the walls, doors and floors.
Curtain was tore half off and couldn't close anymore.
Advice to also dust in the less visible places.
All and all, good enough for one night. Would not stay there for longer.

This property was located in a very nice neighbourhood with the Artis tram stop less than a block away. The Zoo was just across the street from the hotel. It was an easy walk to a grocery store and the inner city. The Museum District was a longer walk away.
The suite was worn out. The carpets looked awful (dirty, cigarette burns) so we were fortunate to have our slippers with us. The dark painted walls were chipped throughout the suite contributing to the worn look.
The bathroom was upgraded, the bed reasonably comfortable and the sheets were clean. The kitchen was small and minimally equipped but did the job.
The staff were excellent. They were always friendly and were responsive to our requests.

Honestly ive stayed in hostels that were miles better than this. Location is about a 30 minute walk to the center, SO noisy it felt like people were getting into bed with me, self check in that relies on you having battery which after travelling is not ideal, no one at desk and when they are, they are not trained and have to call others. The clientele did not feel safe for me. For a female solo traveller, I would say an absolute no go. I would suggest that the self check in is made more apparent in the hotel description because that was a nightmare to manage. This would be a very last resort for me to stay again and I wouldnt do it alone and I would bring EAR PLUGS!!!!

Good location to restaurants and sites. Walked everywhere. The air conditioning was not working at the time we were there. Which was inconvenient and uncomfortable.

Host was very informative and friendly with great recommendations. Rooms were good, clean. Only problem was you could smell smoke in the hallway and just outside our door.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in, and the staff is not friendly at all. I got to my dungeon of a room, there was poop on the toilet seat, the shower drain was backed up so much that debris was spewing out, the floors were dirty, and when I told the staff they just ignored it. It’s loud, difficult to enter, and the cleaning service woke me at 8 even though they said they weren’t cleaning until after 10. I highly do not recommend this place.

Very sophisticated high tech hotel. Constant emails during my trip and just keeping up was a hassle. QR code to get in wasted a lot of time answering emails taking away. From my pleasure trip. Room was very nice although a bit dark in the hallway of the room. If your not into technology and having international cell phone service, this is not the place for you.

The property was dirty and the walls damaged, the carpet was due replacing many years ago. Expedia is not much better as they're not looking into it or responding to my emails. Crappy stay. Definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND

The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The location was good. However, the property management didn’t follow thru. The shower was missing the glass door, the safe didn’t work, the deadbolt lock was missing, and need more towel hooks in the bathroom. The entire place was very dark.

The entire hotel is painted in dark colors, which create a gloomy feeling. The paint in the rooms, moreover, has gaps in some areas, giving it a shabby feeling. Terrible door lock system. Indifferent and indolent staff who show rudeness to women. The hotel is not centrally located, which is not in and of itself a problem. It is a block from the Artis tram stop and so easy to get to the center. Quite near the Amstel, with lovely views nearby.

The De Jonker has modern facilities is in a great location. It is away from the tourists of the Centrum but still very accessible by tram. There are many good restaurants nearby. Service was very good.

We really couldn’t fault this place- it had everything we needed, friendly reception staff and a good, quiet location.

Clean, private and lovely property. Very comfortable for a family if four.

I booked the De Jonker because our two favorite hotels in Amsterdam were full. The location is great, close to but not in the center, near the zoo, botanical garden, and Oosterpark. Good dining nearby.
The hotel has no lobby, only a small reception desk. The theme is dark gray and black, and there is no color at all. Sort of gloomy. That said, the room was updated nicely, had a kitchenette, the shower room was excellent, the bed comfortable. The staff was not always visible, but were helpful when needed.

The check in was just fine and they had the room ready prior to the check in time. The place was really nice. Especially the bathrooms. There might have been some slight fixtures that needed tightened up but it was a really great spot. Bed was comfortable and my overly particular wife loved it.

Unfortunatley, our stay was not as good as we expected following reading the good reveiws. We went for a weekend away and luckily a member of staff who wasn’t overly friendly was heading into the propert at the same time enabled us to enter. The reception staff weren’t very welcoming and when we asked if there was somewhere to leave our luggage we were able to in our room which also still had the previous guests luggage still in bear in mind it was 2:30pm with check in at 3pm. Our room was for 4 guests with 2 bedrooms/2bathrooms. The walls looked damaged and the beds didn’t have a proper mattress. The bathrooms were the best bit decor wise however we’re very small. The worst part about our stay was the noise levels in both the evening and morning, one morning we heard another guest having an argument with hotel staff at 7am. Every morning and evening we were awoken at some point whilst in bed by the noise in the corridor and entrance doors. The night before we were due to check out we asked if we could store our luggage for a few hours as we weren’t leaving the city till the afternoon and hotel staff replied “no we do not do that here” I explained previous guests had done so before we arrived as we had seen their bags but no we were not allowed to do so. Instead we had to pay extra to store our bags in the city which was just not the best end to our trip. Overall, staff unfriendly, average rooms and very noisy.

Room was good but very warm meaning we had to leave window open permanently which then meant road and people noise at night became an issue
Good location just outside centre but on tram line
Disappointed there was no availability for late check out or luggage storage- offer of use at sister hotel 2km away!
Not bad but slightly expensive for what it is

Stayed 10 days in this hotel and could say that this hotel is not comfortable for a long stay.
Hotel does not have laundry facilities and no laundromat in the area.
Very limited furniture in the room, probably owners of hotel took as a model picture of the room from Van Gogh museum.
There are no closet or chest drawer or simple shelves only pipe and 5 hangers
Kitchener is missing basic staff like pasta strainer, tostet.
On the positive note area is good and convenient transportation, nearest supermarket 15 min walk. Daily cleaning is convenient. Bed is comfortable. Customer service is helpful and friendly

Nice studio well equipped. Very good bed. Missed cupboard for clothes. Very dark studio painted in dark coulors: white would make the space brighter and bigger.
Very quiete. Would cetainly recommend it.

Lovely, unique property. Quirky layout with multiple levels in our room. Rooms were quiet with sleeping area away from entrance. Very close to a tram stop which made getting into the centre very easy, we also walked in a couple of times to explore the city. Staff were helpful and friendly. A small kitchen area and sitting room. Unfortunately we were a group of three but they had made up the sofa bed for a fourth so we did not get to use that as well as we could. One minor bad point we left our luggage in the room as 12pm check out got back and could not get in. Staff were helpful letting us back in though so a minor note. Would stay again when we go back to Amsterdam.

We had a great time staying here in Amsterdam. As a family with young kids, I was hesitated to take them to Amsterdam hence super careful with the location of our hotel. Came around de jonker, thought I’d give it a go, it didn’t disappoint at all and tbh it was over our expectations and was one of the highlights of our mini holiday in Amsterdam. We got a very nice two story room, with two en-suite, very spacious and high ceiling windows looking out to the nice view cross the road. The area is walking distance to city centre if for my two young kids, we didn’t need any public transportation at all. Loads of restaurant walking distance to the hotel. The reception was super friendly, although the QR code system was a bit of a inconvenience, we had a little panic first arrived, but called them and they sorted it straight away. Would always be our first option going to Amsterdam in the future

Great location. Staff was friendly and helpful. Museums and shopping areas all within a 30 minute walk. Away from heaviest tourist traffic.

A bit far away from downtown Amsterdam but close to the zoo and various restaurants - extremely high ceiling and great amenities. We could hear people outside due to the layout of the hotel but that is because it is a studio. Would recommend.

Very nice place.
Half a block from Tram 14 stop that takes you right downtown.
