We stayed at Meritin hotel as part of our longer journey across Malaysia and Borneo. For a stay in Kuching we can happily recommend Meritin hotel, as it maintained a high standard in most aspects. The price was quite good in regards to its high standards.
Positives:
- Good location, close to the city centre and walking distance to the waterfront.
- Clean and fresh room! This is one of the highest standards I’ve seen in Malaysia so far in terms of room standards (cleaning wise).
- Very helpfull and friendly staff! They helped us with everything we wanted and made sure we had a good stay.
- High speed wifi
Negatives:
- Although they had breakfast available, they had quite few options. It’s not the biggest deal in world, but if you’re a big breakfast person I suggest to book without breakfast and find something better in town. Early breakfast was not available.
Overall a very good stay thanks to the helpfull and friendly staff and good standards of the rooms. Highly recommended for a stay in Kuching!

The location is good. It's a 10-min walk to the water front. There are a lot of restaurants around the hotel. The staff in the hotel is amazing and makes you feel that you are welcomed. The room is pretty spacious and clean. I will definitely stay here again if I visit Kuching in future. Highly recommended.

This is not my first stay at Meritin, I am very happy with the rooms, cleaniness is excellent, air-condition is super cool, beds and pillows were very verycomfortable. Staff at the reception are very helpful and friendly.
The location is also convenient as it is situated along chinatown and food is abundant along both sides of the street.
I will definitely come back here to stay for my yearly trips to Kuching.

My room was very comfortable, particularly liked the bathroom with the walk in shower, unlike some hotels that have the shower in the bath. Being an older person a walk in shower is much safer.
As well, breakfast was included in the room price which is very helpful when travelling.

Room was clean. Staff was friendly. Breakfast is simple and good; the breakfast spread changes daily. The bar below could be a little noisy for light sleepers.

Excellent location, walking distance to diners, grocery stores and seafood joint. It's in a local neighborhood, amazing vibe, you can walk around and explore. Staff are very friendly and helpful, always smiling. However the hotel facility is fairly old. Rooms are very humid (towels never dry, even quilt are kinda wet). Not sound proof, we woke up by either club music or people talking in the hallway..) But it's cheaper so I guess this is what we paid for, the price also tells you about Malaysia's inflation if you haven't been there in a few years.

Good location if you like walking around old shops area, there are quite many food options around the area. Hotel staffs are friendly and helpful. Good housekeeping, was surprised and impressed to receive a hand-written thank you note from housekeeping staff Ela for thanking our long stay there and checking out that we were satisfied with the service. Would love to stay again in this hotel if were to visit Kuching again.

Great location. Good eateries nearby, and opposite a supermarket. Easy walking distance to the waterfront. Good shower and AC. Very comfortable bed. Patchy wifi.
Fridge not working. Very poor housekeeping. No cleaning took place all week, just emptied the bins and changed the towels (greying, frayed and bad smelling). Would have stayed longer but due to the housekeeping issues we moved down the road to another hotel.

There is a free bus 103 less than 1min walk from hotel which can be good for city tour. But the bus came once every two hours, do check the time on the bus stop.

The hotel is fairly new, having opened in 2017. The lobby is bright and well-decorated, which made us very comfortable upon entry. The location is fantastic, being in the city centre with many good local food within walking distance. The rooms were clean and the staff amazing. Special mention goes to Akmal who was always courteous and attentive, and that had made my family’s 4-night stay in the hotel very pleasant and memorable. We will certainly be back!

There is room for improvement on inter-floor and inter-room noise. Power sockets are faulty. Lighting in the bathroom should be made brighter. Otherwise, it is quite a great hotel and value for money. I would consider to stay in this hotel again in my next visit to Kuching.

Room was clean and a few eateries outside the hotel. Location quite centralized to travel around. Except that the room do not top up your shampoos and shower gel unless you requested for it, likewise for slippers. Overall not bad to stay for a few nights.
