We loved our stay here! Definitely want to return to stay at this onsen. We were greeted at check in with a sweet gift for our honeymoon it was so thoughtful! We loved arashiyama and the convenience of how walkable our hotel was to both stations and the town. The beds are so comfortable the room we stayed in was spacious. We loved how traditional this hotel was tatami mat floors and all. The best part was the onsens, we both have tattoos and loved that they had 5 different private onsens to choose from. In the evening dinner-10pm it stayed pretty busy so we opted for early morning soaks and all were empty between 5-7am. Perfect way to start our day. 10/10 stay at this hotel when we come back to kyoto we plan to stay here again!

Wonderful ryokan with baths. Charming, comfortable. Outdoor soak is fantastic.

a traditional stay surrounded by mountains and forest. the facilities were exactly as advertised. the hotel has private baths and great breakfast.
2.5
Amazing hotel for couples and families. Located in a quiet area within a walkable distance from a bus stop and a metro station. I love the no shoes policy and the private hot springs are very nice and can easily disconnect after a long day of walking around Kyoto. Nothing to do with the hotel itself or the staff but expect some loud clients at this hotel.

This is where you get the Japanese experience
We liked the private hot bath and the meals
Very close to the train station and quiet

Splendid! Would return anytime.

Beautiful, traditional Japanese design, spacious rooms, sensational, generous Japanese breakfast and a great Onsen on site (tattoos aren’t allowed)
Can’t say anything bad about this place. Highly recommended.

Beautiful area and definitely relaxing. Very close to train station and could walk to beautiful areas-UNESCO temples, bamboo forest and so much more. The property was so comfortable and relaxing. Staff very accommodating, but would have been nice to have a service person who spoke English. None the less, the staff was so friendly and professional. The onsens were fabulous and clean. Would definitely go again!

If you’re looking for a convenient and relaxing place to stay, I recommend. The train station is literally right across the street (less than a minute walk) and you can also walk a few minutes to the bus station if you want to easily head to the Arashiyama bamboo forest. Staff were very friendly, the private onsens were great! We tried 4/5 and all were different. Public onsen was also great with a sauna and cold plunge. Rooms could be a bit cleaner, but overall a great ryokan experience! Dinner and breakfast was very traditional though so just be aware. The complimentary kimonos you can rent for free are super cute and fun!

A unique Kyoto experience in a ryokan with traditional baths. We enjoyed the hot springs experience. It was relaxing and rejuvenating. The traditional dinner and breakfast were interesting Not a fan of some of the traditional foods, but it is all part of the experience. Great place to try.

Really neat experience and great place for cheap!

The staff are polite and friendly. I like the traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner, as well as the coffee. Togetsukyo Bridge is within walking distance. The hotel and its surrounding area is beautiful.

The hotel itself has friendly and welcoming staff, and they spoke english which made things much easier for me. The public baths are excellent, the food is great, and the rooms are exactly as described. The area around the hotel is beautiful, and a short walk to tourist attractions, shops, and beautiful scenery. I wish I could have stayed longer.

I felt more relaxed than I have ever been in my life. A morning bath and evening bath made my days so wonderful. The private baths were so special for my partner and me. I hope to return someday for an even longer stay.

Such a stunning hotel. I wanted my daughter to experience a more traditional Japanese stay in Kyoto for one night. We came here because of the private onsen options since I have tattoos. This place was such a pleasure to stay at. I loved the breakfast spread as it was very traditional Japanese. My daughter found it a but more difficult to eat as some of the food was not completely to her taste, but I absolutely loved it (I’m half Japanese and raised in Japan, so it was delicious for me). Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

Beautiful spacious rooms on 4th floor! Pink doors! So cute! Love the private onsens! Each onsen. Is unique and some have the open air concept! I love it! Relaxing here! Free ramen late night and during the day free popsicles and yougurt drinks.
Don’t get the breakfast option here it is not good. We all got stomach food poisoning from it. It’s not buffet so don’t get suckered into getting the breakfast here with hotel room. Opt out! It’s the best trip tip staying here! The dinner too was not good! There’s a set course and the first night tofu and raw chicken was gross. Don’t do it! Save your money for the yummy restaurants a few steps outside of this hotel.

This resort was absolutely fantastic. The private onsens were incredible, the half-board meal option was great, and the staff were outstanding. I recommend this place to anyone and everyone!

5 unique private onsens for those with tattoos they were busy but a short wait and you were able to use any of them and late at night they were all available. A kaiseki dinner which I had never experienced was amazing! Staff were so friendly and we even got free Japanese attire provided by the hotel. A truly outstanding place to stay.

My stay was great, but I don’t recommend the dinner. For how expensive it is, I was expecting the quality of the food to be much superior. It was not, go have dinner elsewhere.

Very conveniently located next to the Arashiyama Hankyu Railway station. We enjoyed the private bath experience but were disappointed the water jets could not be turned on. Experiencing the Japanese meals was part of the experience.

Gorgeous traditional Ryoken. Problem at check-in almost ruined it but we worked it out. You check in and receive a cotton kimono, toe socks and slippers. Everyone floats around like it’s ancient Japan. The rooms are lovely and spacious for Japan. The onsen is like an excellent spa! Hot pools indoor and outside in a small garden, waterfall-massage, steam room, dry sauna, cold plunge. Luxurious bath products and complimentary ice cream bars at the end. It’s transformational. However, they were very difficult when o tried to bring my adult daughter when I had already reserved a double room but only for 1. They charged me an extra $95 for almost nothing extra. If I had reserved for 2 people originally through Expedia the upcharge was more like $20. I was bummed, but then the experience was wonderful so I forgave them. My experience explains the several bad reviews here. Seems they were all about a billing matter. The place seems so spiritual, but they have a very strong profit motive.

This was such a special place to stay. We were looking for a relaxing spot to end our trip to Kyoto, and this was exceptional. The food and baths were especially lovely. It’s also walking distance from the monkey forest, which was so fun!

It was a great stay! Staff was great and the baths were amazing!!

The public bathtub felt quieter and more convenient than the private bathtub.

Friendly and efficient check in. Nice clean property. Onsen was lovely and we appreciated our room balcony. Room was very quiet. Would definitely re-visit and recommend to others.

Probably the least friendly staff of every place I stayed in Japan. Not to say they were not nice, but fell extremely short in comparison the rest of my travels. The pools all smelt heavily chlorinated and dried out the skin. Be sure to bring a lot of lotion, as it’ll dry out your skin pretty badly. The food was good. The area was nice.

My friends and I loved our stay at Kadensho Arashiyama Onsen! The place was very clean and it’s surroundings were very beautiful. It’s right across Arashiyama station which made it very convenient with all our bags. Because my friends have tattoos, we all only tried the private baths and even though there is a wait if the baths were used, it was worth it. Very relaxing, and would definitely stay again.

Great

This place is one of the more expensive places to stay, but the service, including an accommodation tax which I have never paid in Kyoto or other parts of Japan on this trip, except here, were not acceptable. The food was also the worst in terms of what we paid for and what we received. Will NEVER return and will WARN OTHERS NOT to book this place. Money grabbing place. Worst of the places to stay in our 20 days in Japan!
