Beautiful hotel with exceptional service. Lovely rooms. Great breakfast. Location is good, with a subway nearby, small convenience store across the street. Chion-in temple is within easy walking distance. Great stay!!

Beautiful hotel and room. Only negative for some rooms would be the sound of the trains that you can see from the upper levels. They do stop running after 11? But start up again early. It’s wasn’t super loud but a light sleeper would be woken.

Incredible place. Hospitality was perfect. Breakfast buffet was the best on our trip. Beds were also the most comfortable. The private onsen was well worth the reasonable price. Couldn’t say enough good about our stay.

Loved the room design. Close to public transportation

The Higashiyama is a beautiful hotel located in a quiet part of city. It is walking distance to many restaurants, tourist sites and to city centre. The staff are gracious and room is so nice you almost don’t won’t to leave it :-)

The foot bath was amazing and a great way to end the night!

Very nice hotel, enjoyed our stay. Convenient location. Staff was great from check in to check out. Food at restaurant onsite was quite pricey but thankfully there is food everywhere close by.

Really enjoyed my stay here. As a tourist, I really enjoyed the shuttle bus the hotel offered as I didn't have to figure out how to get from the train station to the hotel. Staff was very friendly and the room was very clean and nice. Would definitely recommend!

Quiet and peaceful

We had a great stay, and really enjoyed this quiet, zen-like hotel.

My expectations were exceeded! A great location, only 7 min walk to subway station. An easy 15 min walk to Gion district. The room was a perfect size and clean. The largest we had on our entire Japan trip. We were able to launder our clothes at no cost which saved packing room. Everyone was kind and very helpful. I would stay here again if ever back in Kyoto. Thanks for a great accommodation!

I highly recommend Hotel Higashiyama for trips to Kyoto. The location is ideal in a quiet area walking distance to Gion and shrines as well as the subway station. The architecture of the hotel is beautiful and filled with gorgeous design and art in the courtyard and hallways. The service is five star level and I would like to thank the hotel shuttle driver from Kyoto Station and the bellhop for an excellent arrival experience. I hope to be back at this hotel soon!

Property itself is new and clean with good location. However, the room we received had only a frosted window with no outlook. Further, upon check-in, as I’d accidentally made a booking for one instead of two, I was made to pay a supplement. While I accept this, I was charged twice the rate the hotel was advertising on the same day for the same room, making it among the more expensive properties in Higashiyama. Further, they then excluded breakfast from this supplement, in effect doubling the cost my room with no substantial improvement in service to provide for the second guest. Clearly, this is a hotel happy to take advantage of their customer and charge unreasonable and extortionate fees. In extensive travel throughout Japan, never have I felt taken advantage of by customer service, so to avoid this risk I suggest booking a stay at one of the plethora of reputable hotels in the area at more appropriate rates.

This is a fantastic hotel right in the middle of the scenic and tourist region of Kyoto!

Great place to stay

Make sure you read all of the web site, they charge you by the ppl that stay with you, it was just my fiancé and I. Never been charged for a plus one. After I payed got for the extra charges found out that I pay for everyone selfs up grade. I don’t know how they got that mixed up even if I give them my passport with me name on it turned out the room key I was giving at 1st ended up being someone’s room,
