Re-Imagined Historical Country House Retreat

We’ve just come home from our annual family bash at Balmule House and, as always, it was the perfect venue.
Three generations of the family all under one roof in the most welcoming, well appointed accommodation. The bedrooms are well thought out with the flexibility of having most of them set up as twins to accommodate the children.
We were lucky with the weather and the hot tub was very popular!
If you are thinking about a stay at Balmule - go for it!

The house, gardens, greenhouse and walking areas make for a great retreat and have allowed us to host some special events on the grounds. The layout of the rooms, proximity to EDI and the local accommodations make it perfect for our annual trips.

This was the fourth time we have visited, eacch time for a family gathering. House extremenly comfortable, with lovely bedrooms, big dining room and two sitting rooms.

This property is breathtaking, inside and outside surroundings. We had 16 family members staying together over the weekend and fully enjoyed the sitting rooms with fireplaces, the large dining hall with all the candles, everyone was comfortable and impressed with their rooms (robes and coffee makers a bonus) and the grounds outside with the highland cows, horses, cat Buster, and peacock! We had everything we needed and felt very spoiled the whole weekend. We will definitely return.

Balmule is one of the most beautiful places to stay! This place just topped everyone’s expectations and was a surprise to a few guests in our party. Franc was an amazing host & nothing was too much bother. We have booked to come back again in a few months time and we cannot wait for it. We had the best few days with family and friends for pre wedding celebrations!

I booked this as a hen do location and all the team at Blamule were so accommodating, nothing was too much and they even helped reach out to our transport company when we were having issues with them regarding the roads. Its remote enough that you are not bothering anyone but only a ten minute taxi ride to restaurants and bars.
Everyone who attended had a great time, I would highly recommend to anyone!

It’s a beautiful house and so well appointed, there was everything we needed for cooking and we were well provided for with towels, etc. Plenty of space and stunning grounds. Thought it was really great value and everything we wanted for a reunion.
We also had plenty of contact details if we needed anything and ended up getting a lift to the station when the taxi didn’t show at check out!!
Only minor minor thing was the gym wasn’t open but that wasn’t an issue. Very happy, thank you!

Venue was the right choice for our wedding, Franc and his staff couldn't be anymore helpful, communication right from the moment of booking up till the moment we left, they were there but wasn't there, hidden behind the scenes everything was flawless. All our guests complimented on how the venue and the staff were amazing.

Balmule House was our destination to celebrate early, my daughters special birthday. It did not disappoint. The rooms were fantastic, loads of spaces to congregate. We had a Big Country Tribute band play for us one evening called Restless Natives. They were in awe as this was the former home of their hero Stuart Adamson, Big Country's founder and vocalist. The gardens, all of 30 acres are well maintained. All in all we had a wonderful vsit.

Balmule House was everything we hoped for and more for a celebratory weekend. Franc was incredibly helpful throughout the booking process - he kindly held the dates until we were able to confirm numbers, helped with details for planning activities during our stay, and organised a formal dining set up so that our whole party of 18 could sit together for meals. Check in was incredibly easy, and Franc walked me through the house to give lots of information on everything. Thank you!

We booked Balmule House as our location for my 60th birthday celebrations. It was perfect!
The house is set in beautifully private and extensive grounds, including the stunning waterfall oasis. The hot tub was such a treat, even on chilly days in March.
The house was decorated and fitted to an exceptional standard. The artwork was delightful and so varied. The bedrooms were stunning and the living/dining rooms created both grandeur and comfort for our communal gatherings.

Super place to relax with a group of good friends. Beds and baths excellent. Cosy kitchen with everything you could want to prepare your own meals and a dining room that accommodates a crowd. Lovely setting and garden with things to do nearby if you actually want to leave. Highly recommended.
