The property is nice. The beach is fantastic! The food is a 7-8 - they could def do better in the area... but I don't think that's the fault of staff - I think the Riu just really doesn't prioritize this area. On a different note, the entertainment was really fun & absolutely terrific, especially the evening shows (one put in the courtyard, followed by one inside the stage/theater area). The "resort credits" were basically non-existent (when I asked about them, I was told I could have a coupon for $15 off a massage service - totally useless!). Service was great - it really felt like the staff genuinely cared about the guests/guest- experience!

I did like the fact that my coffee cup was not clean they still had lipstick on one of them and that person clean my room , also there was not coffee pack with creamer and auger. Got to have my coffee frist thing in the morning.

Nice hotel, very good experience, the food was fantastic and the beverages too. The only thing, is the rooms, some furniture looks old.

We stayed for 9 days at Riu Palace Mexico and we really enjoyed it..the resort grounds are beautiful and kept well.beach was amazing (even though no umbrellas ) we loved the blue clean waters.food was great a lot of variety.the only con I can mention is the rooms are a little outdated .

I’ve always enjoyed staying at RIU hotels. Staff and service is great. The only complaints I have is the hard beds and no privacy to change if you traveling with kids.

Quick taxi ride to downtown Playa Del Carmen. You will not wait long. Download the RIU app so you can do everything from order room service, refill the minibar, or anything else you could need. Beach is awesome for long walks. Sun chairs easy enough to get full shade to full sun. A few vendors selling things on the beach but they leave you be if not interested. The restaurants and buffets are good, plenty of choices. The staff is pleasant and make your stay great.

Key card didn't work 6 times. We had to ask everyday, multiple times a day. They changed the battery of the lock twice. It was annoying. Food and drinks were not great. The rooms need updating. The staff was friendly.

I’m really not happy with my experience. I was moved to a different resort away from my family without my choice. Then I had to pay for transportation every time I went to the retsort I actually booked.

We just stayed at Riu Palace Mexico for the first time. It was not as "luxury" as some of the other resorts that we have stayed at in the area, but for the price, it was very nice. The facilities could have been slightly more kept. The rooms were clean and nice but be aware if your travel needs require privacy, there is no closed off space to change, etc. It is a very open space! The food options are varied. You can have just about anything imaginable. The drinks, while not being craft cocktails, are plenty! The entertainment is just enough for adults but may not be great for people looking for more excitement. Also, Playacar is walkable and feels very safe.
