The location was easily walkable, right on the lake and close to the train station (10-15 minute walk). The rooms were clean and spacious. Staff were very friendly. The bar was closed while I was there, but the view looked great!

Amazing view of the lake and mountains. Promenade right outside the hotel. Lent us Swiss adaptors, our EU ones don't fit. Close to bus, trains, restaurants.

Everything was great at this hotel. Loved our 3 night stay there. The jazz festival made it even more eventful.

I was in many 5 star hotels around the world but this hotel is not one. I was in this hotel almost 50 years ago and then it did look like a 5 star hotel. Nothing in the hotel is updated since 50 years ago. Everything is OLD, except a few paintings and lights. Carpet, curtains, closets, and many more things are dirty. I even complained about the black mold in the shower walls and no one did anything about it. This hotel at most is a 21/2 star. I was told by the manager of the hotel that owners know about the fact that hotel is old but they do not want to upgrade it. This hotel is othing like the pictures you see online.

We were very well welcomed to the hotel by the reception staff. Our hotel room was pleasing especially the small balcony with the views of the lake and the mountains despite the ongoing building works. The breakfast selection was excellent and the dining room staff have to be mentioned because they exuded warmth and hospitality. Unfortunately our stay was spoilt by the fact that the cleaners forgot to clean our room on two occasions on the first we had to bring it to the attention of housekeeping and only then did it get done late in the afternoon. On the second occasion our room was not cleaned at all and we were in too late to mention it to housekeeping staff so for example beds were not made but more uncomfortably bins were not emptied. When we mentioned it to housekeeping on the day we were checking out house keeping staff said that perhaps it was not done because staff were busy with other rooms and reception made a similar excuse. Whilst that may be the case it does not detract from the fact that we paid the same money for a non-service. Hate to complain because everything else was exemplary but a better system needs to be put in place so that none of your guests are neglected and all of them get the same value for money service.

A lovely hotel, super clean, air conditioning, nice hot water, modern facilities. Staff at registration spoke excellent English. Wonderful grounds with easy access to the Montreux Jazz Festival, which is why I came here. This really is a paradise with one caveat folks: they are building a massive structure literally next door. Work starts promptly at 7am and ends at 5pm. The room was so quiet I didn't hear anything. But, if I sat outdoors on my balcony I could watch them work, which was quite interesting. I had a lake view, which was pure heaven. There's a good span on the premises, and an indoor pool. I will stay here again on my next trip to Montreux!

Hotel management turnover and summer hire workers always in the industry leave repeat customers without any recognition. Everyone was nice and doing their best to accommodate customers but you beed a workable algorithm for room turnover waiting until 5pm standing in the lobby after a long flight wasn’t my idea of a good time.

A lovely hotel in a spectacular location. The staff is very friendly and the hotel amenities top class.

Lovely three night stay. Hotel is old school but in a positive way. All the staff are very attentive and helpful. The public areas are immaculately maintained and our room was spotless. The hotel has direct access onto the lakeside promenade. It's a fifteen minute walk into the town centre and about 1 hour walk to Chateau Chllon.

Beautiful views across the lake. Friendly staff, well appointed room. The build site next door was a little noisy, but nothing that spoiled our stay.

We had a balcony room with a lake view which was spectacular. The hotel has a really good location and the spa was great. There were some areas that could do with some touch ups but overall would recommend this hotel particularly the lake view rooms!

Likes: Room had nice views of Lake Geneva and mountains; Breakfast was very good with a lot of variety. Hotel was close to Bus Stop (but far from train station and main part of town). Needs Improvement: In one room the thermostat did not work properly and was very hot. The other rooms fan was very loud – got a headache from constant noise and needed a Motrin.

The view from the hotel if you are blessed to have a lake view room is amazing. The hotel does appear a little tired in places. The bed was firm for a side sleeper. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Not all amenities were open at the time of our stay. The bar was expensive. While the hotel is at the other end of the lake promenade from the centre, it is a nice walk and not too far.

Although the Royal Plaza Montreux is a little dated we thoroughly enjoyed our stayed. The service was fantastic, room was very comfortable and location perfect!

We are travelling with a service dog. On their website it clearly states that service animals are welcome at no cost. When we checked in one of the ladies in reception was telling the man who was checking me in that I need to pay. When I questioned her she said that you are in Switzerland and the service animals ID is issued in the UK. I said so if someone is disabled in the UK does that mean that they are not in Switzerland? She was incredibly rude. After checking with her manager of course she didn’t charge us. The check in process took around 30 minutes because of this. I also spend my birthday there where I was promised something special for my birthday. Unfortunately that didn’t happen. The whole experience was very disappointing. I’ve stayed at this hotel several times before but this is the first time I felt the need to write a review. When I asked for the manager when I checked out I was told by another lady that there was no manager on site. This was not true the manager was on a break however she lead me to believe that no manager was working on Sunday. I was very disappointed with the whole experience. The staff need training on how to be polite to people and stop mentioning the obvious that we are in Switzerland!!!

Enjoy the location: Right on the lake shore, with lovely gardens outside the restaurant. There is a walking path which goes along the lake which runs right behind the hotel, with a wide variety of birds, tress, flowers, etc. The staff are all lovely, and speak excellent English, always obliging and nothing is ever too much bother. Hotel amenities are nice, rare in Europe- spacious rooms, in room minibar fridge, large beds, bathrooms with a tub and shower, pool, hot tub, sauna, spa. Only critique is the lack of casual dining near by. With the bar/ room service menu being small, there isn’t much close by after one meal with them. Prices are high, as is usual in Switzerland.
