Had to carry suitcases up two long flights of steps. Room has a musty smell and very old fashioned decorations. There is no staff at the location and no place to eat breakfast and no info in the room. Appeared to be some stoned people hanging around and didn't feel comfortable walking to parking lot at night. Bed was comfortable and there is a fridge and small stovetop. Overall a strange place. I felt like I was in the Knives Out movie.

It's been a while since I've been in Saint John and stayed at Chipman Hill. The uniqueness of the historical properties along with the great location and the cleanliness/personal touches make it a great stay. Always recommend.

Fantastic location close to downtown and waterfront. Also close to some great food options.

The air con way too loud. It is necessary to have air con , maybe invest in another unit. The Irving Oil Building leaves its lights on over night. Maybe provide a shade for the window that doesn’t interfere with the air con

I have the opportunity to visit many historic homes. It was treat to actually stay in one. Much of the main floor remains as it would have been 100 years ago when the home was built.

This was one of our favorite stays ever. This hotel is beautifully decorated. It being a heritage home makes the stay even more special. It had modern immunities such as a deep bathtub we wanted to soak in for hours. Very conveniently located. All the restaurants and harbor are an easy walk away. The only downside and I really mean only was the area it’s located in. Wonderful and perfectly safe in the day it becomes dangerous at night. We were afraid our car was going to be stolen.

I really enjoyed staying at Chipman Suites - although when I booked I had believed it was the location closer to the convention centre… the hotel is lovely, and once you get past the ‘no staff’ bit it’s quite freeing. I was a short walk to ‘uptown’ stores, bars, and restaurants. I enjoyed it enough that I stayed again a week later

Very cosy and quaint room. One night stay for me but a very nice stay.

Comfortable stay in this beautiful historic property. Everything was beautiful. The ac was a little weak and the toilet paper holder kept coming door but those small things didn’t bother me. Just mentioning so that they can fix when they get time

Internet pictures splendide. Reality: a small bedroom for room 4 and really not like any pictures for room 6. Desappointment.

Unique former mansion turned Inn. Lovely renovation and common area was exceptional.

Unique hotel in downtown Saint John

Beautiful hotel in the cool part of town.

Place was nice. Staff were great. The only hiccup was the parking. Hotel.com said there was parking and it turns out there is only 6 spaces for the whole establishment. We were traveling with bikes and gear in the car so secure parking was important. The staff did help us out by allowing us to park our bikes in the office over night. Thanks.

Convenient location. Beautiful old mansion updated with attention to detail. Very comfortable. Used kitchenette for breakfast only. Friendly staff. Parking on street. Recommend getting parking permission ticket through owners for dashboard to avoid parking fine.

Parking is hard, but the management explained it well. It's an older property, but just fine. The neighborhood is fine.

The inn was fantastic, lovely with antiques, and it felt like we went back in time. It was great that the place was renovated from an older building. From the store nearby, to people passing us, that we asked questions, very friendly.

Parking is tough but doable

Wonderful room, interesting and remarkable furnishings and fabulous bed. Well equipped and short walking distance to many great restaurants. The communication around parking was as good as it could be given that the St John parking regulations are incredibly difficult to understand and their parking map difficult to interpret.

This property really wowed us. The building was constructed in 1891 and definitely had the feel that it was. It was originally a mansion for a local physician and reimagined into a hotel with Creeky stairs and floors which added to the old time feel and was so fun. The cleanliness was great and nothing short of an almost luxurious experience. Would stay again any day of the week. All of the food and fair within walking distance only added to our pleasure of this stay. The only difficulty is the parking if you choose not to get a pass ahead of time, but it easily managneable.

Parking during the week week could be a problem, but not on Friday evening through Sunday. Also no problem during summer months. School directly across the street has designated spots.

This place is hands down the coolest stay I've ever had. Step back in time to the 1890's and kick your feet up. Unreal experience from start to finish. Bravo Chipman Hill Suites! Also to the person who works hard to keep the place clean, great job! Every surface was immaculate. I definitely recommend staying here.

Excellent

It feels like a home away from home! Very clean, cozy and quaint. The furniture and decorations are consistent with the victorian era of the buildings and in good shape. As an antique building they have done such a great job in keeping the original feel and providing all the modern amenities.

Great location in Uptown Saint John. Chipman Hill Suites are superbly maintained. Excellent communication from registration and check-in staff. Property is very well decorated in heritage style and equipped with modern conveniences

The property is in great shape and a wonderful old building. The rooms are spacious and well appointed as well. While it may seem old that just adds to its charm. I appreciated the self check in of the property. The area however is like some of Saint Johns unfortunate less than safe feeling areas, but that's not the property's fault so I won't hold that against them.
