Beautiful property, super friendly staff. Our second time staying here and will stay again when in this area.

The architecture was rustic mid-century modern and the grounds were absolutely beautiful. The firestoves in the side reading rooms made the atmosphere cozy while the large viewing windows gave us the feeling that we were sitting outside with the sweeping views. Fireflies at nite off the garden room was magical. Staff Andrew and Javier were wonderful. The lodge was super close to Poas Volcano NP and an easy drive early in the morning and the staff worked with us to get breakfast to us quickly that morning so we could make our 8am Poas reservation. Could improve: 1. We could not reach the lodge directly to ask questions and to make a reservation either through the website or through the phone number. We ended up going through Expedia. 2. The room (#4) was amazing but had a musty smell 3. The time from ordering dinner at the lodge to the time it was served was an hour. The food was really delicious (chicken with mushrooms and seabass with mango -- it was just a long wait. The lodge is unique and lovely and we highly recommend staying here.

Poas Volcano Lodge was amazing!!We stayed there for two nights and their hospitality was great!Their staff is extremely dedicated and focused on making your stay a memorable one. They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and suggesting you right activities for you depending on the weather conditions. Even their masseuse, Sefina and Margarie were great at their work, they made me feel so relaxed! I highly recommend this place for your stay in Costa Rica.

Reception upon check in was a little cool but restaurant staff was very friendly front desk seemed a little inconvenienced when asked for ice for the room but the resort very well maintained and comfortable surroundings were beautiful and the rest of resort staff was friendly

A lovely rural oasis. A beautiful property. Lovely dinner. About a 50 minute drive to the airport (at 5 am!). This was our second stay and we will be back.

Lovely hotel. Nice decor. There is not much around the hotel. But only 25 mins to the Poas Volcano. Dirt road up to the hotel.

Excellent location overlooking the Poas Mountain! Great food and ambience and a very pleasant stay!

We loved our stay in the Poas volcano lodge. The lodge and room were cosy, a real home from home, with a British feel to it (the owners are English). Everything was very clean. There are lots of nice touches, such as the library and games room, and some good trails to walk around the farm. The volcano was a good half hour drive away and was shrouded in cloud when we stayed, but we so enjoyed our visit to the lodge we didn't mind too much! The waterfall gardens are only 10 mins away and are well worth a visit. We had a lovely and reasonably priced (for Costa Rica) dinner in the restaurant with charming service. Breakfast the next morning was a little slow, and we had to forego the hot dish as we had an 8am volcano booking, so I would recommend booking the National Park for 8.30am instead if you want a full breakfast beforehand. Would definitely recommend and would stay here if in the area again. It's less than an hour's drive from the airport so the perfect final night option and much nicer than staying in San Jose.

This lodge is lovely, comfortable and friendly. The free breakfast is generous and delicious and the dinners are so good. The decor is wonderful with local wood and stone. Lots of areas to sit with coffee and chat. The rooms and bath are spotless, spacious and beautiful.

We loved our stay at Poas Volcano Lodge. It’s a beautiful property in the clouds. Very different environment from when we stayed in La Fortuna- you are high in the mountains! The weather is nice and cool. The service and restaurant were excellent. Convenient location that’s less than an hour to the airport and very close to Poas Volcano, La Paz waterfall, and several coffee and strawberry farms that offer tours.

We got upgraded to a room with a balcony and volcano view. It’s a beautiful place. It feels like we rented the whole house. Beautiful view all around. Very quite and private. Staff very respectful. They have a restaurant in house with is very convenient and food was tasty. Near volcanos and waterfalls.

Such a unique setting and special architecture with lovely service. The staff was so gracious and welcoming. You could really tell the staff wanted to make their guests happy and to enjoy their stay. I truly loved walking through the public spaces admiring all the architectural elements and craftsmanship. The food was really good as well and they had a really nice selection of wines.

Good, clean, comfortable property located 25mins from Poas Volcano. Breakfast and dining was great and overall had a cozy feel.

Unique stay. A perfect destination after landing in San Jose and are heading towards Arenal. A perfect first night.

Poas Volcano Lodge is a beautiful property! It is so welcoming and it feels like you are coming home when you arrive. The property sits on 10 acres in the hill country overlooking an incredible view of the valley and 3 volcanoes. If you have the opportunity, stay in one of the volcanoe view rooms, you won't be disappointed. Breakfast and dinners in the dining room are slow and intimate with fresh farm-to-table choices. The staff is all local, and are very kind and accomodating. With the slow paced feel, there are still some things to do on the property as well as in the surrounding area. Be sure to grab the boots and walking sticks and wander through the 10 acres, it feels like you've stepped into another world! Cozy up with a book by the small fire in the great room. Do some bird watching with their binoculars. Play games down in the game room. Sit out on the grass and enjoy the views. In the area you can tour a local strawberry farm, tour the Doka Coffee Farm, peek into Poas Volcano, spend a day at La Paz Waterfall Gardens, have coffee at the local coffee house, and so much more!

This place is simple amazing. The main house is a villa with many areas to sit and relax, read, add there's even a pool table if you're into this game. The room I took was a garden room. It's pretty basic but had everything I needed, and I loved the little balcony with the chairs to sit out and relax.
