The property is well maintained, and you are steps from the beach. Even over Labor Day weekend, the beach was not crowded. There was a slight mildewy odor in the house that went away after the house was aired out. Otherwise, our visit went very well.

The location and view from this house were absolutely wonderful. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and looking out at the beach and water. The house was very nice and due to rain during our stay the pool table was a nice addition for entertainment. We had everything we needed and the owners were quick to respond to any question that we had prior to our visit. You won’t be disappointed.

My trip got cancelled by Beryl, so Walter allowed me to reschedule and gave me an extra stay to make up for it. I couldn't get the family back together but I came to have a quiet remote work few days. The house was lovely and I can't wait for my whole family to enjoy it for our rescheduled date. I loved the porches to sit and drink coffee and watch the waves.

This house was perfect for our family. The right number of rooms and bathrooms, great separation. Big kitchen, we weren’t in each others way while prepping. Large table for meals and games. Right on the beach. Everything we needed, really hope to do it again.

Our stay at the beach house was simply perfect, despite a recent storm that had passed through. The views and the beach remained breathtaking, and the home itself was beautifully appointed with everything we needed. The host was incredibly attentive, ensuring any needs were met promptly. It's the ideal place for a memorable beach getaway with family and friends, and we can't wait to come back!

The house is well-stocked, the host is super responsive, the neighborhood is quiet, the location is literal steps from the beach, the water was crystal clear and the sunset view from the deck is unbeatable. 2024 was the 10th annual beach trip for this group, this house is the only house we've repeated, and we'll be back next year.

Exceptional in every way. Not outfitted as a rental, but as a home with every convenience you would have in your own home. Very homy. The place is spacious in all the right places. Large open kitchen where up to 6 or 7 people can congregate to cook or socialize while making cocktails without the feel of being in a tight crowd. Large living room with a lodge high ceiling where 10 people can seat in comfort. Large long dining table to seat 10 or so people and eat together. Kitchen has amazing array of all the utensils, tools, food storage, appliances (large fridge, blender, ice maker, mixer) everything you would need. A large upstairs pool table, game and TV room overlooking the living room (too busy doing other things to use it). Parking for at least 10 cars. House fronts right on a beach that is private by nature of being deadended with no easy access by cars. Locals use golf carts. Surf has a very large shallow area maybe 1 foot deep near a rock breakwater suitable for small children. And a freight elevator to move all your food, luggage to the high first level. Beds not cheap. Good sleep. NO, we do not have a financial interest in this place. Just appreciate a place where the owners have gone aboveboard to outfit, maintain, and provide an exceptional place and location for a group of people to lodge together. We will be back!!!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Everything was there as was described in the booking. We had a beautiful view of the ocean from the deck and windows. Beds were comfortable with plenty of blankets. We definitely recommend staying here.

This was a gorgeous property to spend our family Christmas. We had a few electrical issues due to weather but the owner was so attentive and the or else was resolved quickly . I can not recommend this house more! We will definitely be back.

perfect in 1 word, this was our mental therapy for a family member who has recently gone through cancer and it what the correct medicine, however we needed a bigger dosage, lol - this home gave her the peace and tranquility she needed, infusions called her back home, however this just means we will just have to go back to the The Artist View. The home is nestled in a corner pocket of the beach, spectacular views, huge kitchen, great for the whole family - the children all had plenty of space, my 80 yr old mother even found her a quiet corner to crochet, thank you Walter, this trip meant so much to our family, we will certainly plan for another visit, hopefully soon.

The house was great for 3 families of 4 on a long beach weekend.
We cooked all of our meals there and the large kitchen was very well-stocked for all of our needs.
The house is right on the beach which was very convenient for carrying all our beach gear down for an all-day stay or just hopping down for a morning walk or an evening fishing session.
Homeowner was very responsive and helpful when we needed to find some additional linens for the pullout couch but that was the only thing we found ourselves needing the entire weekend.
Our group has been traveling to the Texas Coast for a beach weekend every summer for 8 years and I think we may have found our first repeat beach house!

This was a family stay driven by our kids prom in Galveston. Although the weather was bad all weekend, we had a great time inside of the home as there were plenty of room, game room and hanes to keep us preoccupied. It was relaxing bieng close to the beach and lessening to the waves run! All in all great enjoyable house to relax in!

My sons' families and I spent two nights to have a special time at Christmas. One family lives in Houston and the rest of us live in Colorado. We figured the 4 kids (ages 6 - 9) would have fun playing on the beach. We had to bring the dog (no dog sitter options) so it worked out wonderfully. The beach is right there. No walking down to a "bridge" over the dunes. There is access through to the beach.
The house has a huge kitchen and dining table as well as a table for games. Upstairs has a TV and pool table. The kids had fun playing up there. There are tons of dishes, pots and pans, etc. The beds were great and the house comfortable.
Sitting on the deck we could watch dolphins jumping out of the water!
When I was searching for a house I wanted something where the kids could just go outside and play. Also, we have to have a bedroom with 2 bunk beds. That is not so easy to find.
We had a friend that was also renting a house near Galveston. A day before they were to rent it, the owners advised that due to the very cold weather, the pipes froze - so no water. I contacted our hosts to make sure we were not in the same boat. Even though this is on Christmas Eve, they were very gracious to calm my nerves.
Everything went very well and we had a wonderful time. The information the host provided covered everything and made it simple to know what was expected.

The reviews for the house are impressive, and rightly so. I think potential renters might benefit from information not included in other reviews. So, that is the information I will include in my review. First, the cleaning staff does an excellent job keeping the house clean, and not just the obvious places such as countertops. Examples of the cleaning staff's detailed attention include floorboards and window sills that are dust free and well swept and mopped floors. Every member of my family remarked upon the cleanliness of the house. Plus, the cleaning staff does not use cleaning supplies that leave a heavy smell of chemicals in the house, a problem I encounter in other vacation rentals. Second, the kitchen layout is great for cooking meals for large groups (10 or more people). At times, we had three people preparing a meal and none of us felt crowded in the kitchen because there was so much counter space to use when preparing meals. The kitchen is fully stocked with any item you might need for preparing meals. Third, the layout and furnishing in the first floor provides plenty of spaces for individuals to relax in. For example, there is a large round table that individuals can use to play cards on while other individuals are eating at the kitchen table or sitting near the fireplace. The owners of the house have managed to furnish the first floor with user friendly spaces without making the first floor feel crowded with furniture and silly little knick-knacks. Finally, there is one item mentioned in other reviews that deserves to be mentioned in this review - the lift. I have rented multiple houses in Treasure Island but never one with a lift. Being able to load all luggage and groceries onto a lift was, as one reviewer wrote, a game changer. Walter and Amanda, thank you for providing such a wonderful and relaxing vacation rental!

Every year our growing family takes a beach vacation together. We very much enjoyed our family vacation at the Artist's View. We enjoyed the gulf view, proximity to the beach, large decks with plenty of furniture, beautiful and comfortable decor, and the very spacious design which accommodated our large family nicely.
The owners quickly responded to all messages and made every effort to make our vacation pleasant. Check in process was well documented and easy, and even had restaurant and grocery recommendations in the area.
We highly recommend this property and hope to return.

We've rented Artists View many times and continue to return for a few reasons. The views from the house are amazing with completely unobstructed sightlines from the Gulf water directly in front all the way around to the bay (and beautiful sunsets) behind, the location is a great mix of ease of access, quiet relaxation away from some of the busier beaches in Galveston and Surfside, and reasonable access to great shopping and restaurants in Galveston, Surfside, Freeport, and Lake Jackson by car. One of the most important reasons we continue to return is that the owners take great care to ensure they are accessible to answer questions, resolve concerns, and focus on adding improvements every year. This stay it was a new outdoor hot/cold shower, a new propane grill, and a completely renovated pool table. At our last stay in the winter some mattresses had been replaced and the TVs upgraded along with some decorative changes. But the amazing view and quick easy beach access never changes. If you are seeking a relaxing location with amazing views, the ocean right out the front door, good fishing, good beaches, and a comfortable home with great amenities I highly recommend an Artists View.

We pulled up to the drive and thought the house wasn’t going to work for us.. but it ended up being perfect. We’ve stayed in quite a few homes on private beaches. This one wasn’t quite that way.. but better. It was family friendly with a beautiful view. My husband was impressed that he could drive on the beach and unload our canopies and coolers. The home was clean... beds were good. There are plenty of pans and pots. The pool table is off level slightly but with a few cocktails you can’t notice.

My family and I did enjoy our stay there because we love being together. The house is beautiful and very spacious. However it was not properly cleaned. The kitchen floor was dirty and the stove was dirty. My biggest concern was that the outside deck lights upstairs did not work. We grilled steaks for dinner in dark with flashlights. Also we needed lights out there for safety reasons. The sheets were clean but the top comforters were NOT. I was happy to see the owner was very considerate and provided propane for the outdoor gas grill. However the grill was extremely dirty and took a lot to clean it before we could use it. The location is prime and I believe the owners put a lot of love and care into this home. The decor is so pretty and just my taste. The kids room was so cute. Nice linens and blankets. Kitchen was equipped and easy to cook in! Mama loves to cook!!! Overall my family had a great time!!!
I would suggest getting new comforters for 3 Queens Beds. And perhaps get a better cleaning crew.

The house had plenty of room (I believe the largest near the beach), is well furnished/equipped, has a perfect view of the beach/ocean and is located on a good part of the beach. The beach is a short walk so no need for a golf cart. If you have a large family and are looking for room to spread out, then this house is a great choice.
